All I can remember is Tom Durkin's appearance on Match Game PM was after they changed the set and Richard Dawson left the show because of the 'Star Wheel' It was at least 1979 when he appeared as a contestant. I can mention four celebrities that appeared on the show: Bart Braverman, Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, and Connie Stevens. Not sure if Bill Daily was on or not.
This is probably Mr. Durkin's funniest race call, and my favorite of his calls is the 1988 BC Turf in which Great Communicator would '....not...be...denied...' but his BEST call was that of the '89 BC Classic when he made a race out of the blow out by Sunday Silence over, well, you know. :)
this is absolutely side-splitting! the third effort is so irreverent but so hysterical. does he know how good he is?! between the super serious calls and this, doremi, mother-in-law and ARRRR, he runs the table...
Then there were horses named Cunning Stunt, Bodacious Tatas, Big Ding, and the involuntarily renamed "heart one" who was "Heart On" before that. I wanted to name two horses "in front" and "gaining."
there's too many of them really say one call how about aarrrrrr or the 2002 test Stakes or doe ray me fa so la ti Doe Rachel Alexander beating the boys and the Travers bird Jerry Bailey when in seven races at Gulfstream and I'll leave it with the 95 Breeders Cup Classic with cigar!!!!
Someone at Saratoga about 6 years ago named a horse "Shiny City Shoes" to see if Tom would say "Shiny Shitty Shoes". Every time he said the name he said "Shiny ... City ... Shoes..."1
Do you have any idea, or remember, which date Tom Durkin appeared on Match Game??? I am trying to find the date/appearance and GSN did not help Thanks!!!
This man is a great American horse racing commentator.
" I gabe the owner exactly what he wanted"

That image of Tom reminds me of his Match Game PM appearance back in the late 70's or early 80's that GSN has aired many times in the past.
AWESOME TO THIS DAY
For anyone wondering, the race was April 25th, 1989 Hialeah Park Race 8
I really enjoyed this vid, thanks Becky.
Loved Tom's Arazi juvenile call. More horses should come with a "menacing rush".
Gulfstream 1989 you're absolutely right
YESSSSSSSSSAAAAA!!!!
Yeah this one was on Planet's Funniest Animals. I had to watch this one over.
A horse named Ton Wa Ka Wa Ma Ni once ran at Aqueduct
Then there were horses named Cunning Stunt, Bodacious Tatas, Big Ding, and the involuntarily renamed "heart one" who was "Heart On" before that. I wanted to name two horses "in front" and "gaining."
I saw this on America's Funniest Home Videos!
Never forget the 2009 kentucky derby
I like how there are photo bombers in the back.
Young tom
One of his funniest, yes. Along with Arrrrr. And more than a few others.
But his best race call, the 1995 Breeders Cup Classic, at Belmont. Cigar.

@ThePixiePoet 1987
That he may be my foul mouth friend. But borrrrrring as hell.
Have listen to how a REAL race caller calls a race....Aussie style !!!!
Durkin's call of Mine That Bird's Derby win was God awful.
So was Larry Collmus’s 2022 Derby call- it happens to the best
Yes it was but you can't say that about vary many of his calls in 30 years of calling races at the Top level
