This projector gets the job done pretty well. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxS9P8zTOcmQg-hH0QeUi3dspOLyYgQ6dH Bear in mind it's a mini projector but all things considered the picture quality is pretty good. The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.
Excellent review! Thank you. One thing I'd like to add: I own an Xgimi Aura projector and my experience with Xgimi customer support has been second to none. Communication has been prompt, friendly, and extremely helpful. It's very comforting to know that there's a responsive safety net out there for my expensive China-sourced projector. The Aura is absolutely brilliant. Regarding the Elfin: 8.5' throw distance for a 100" diagonal screen.
@@jtrn2009 no battery but its totally worth the price IMO i have used mine everyday even more then my epson 1060. home cinema projector i have a ravpower 70200mah power pack i use to make it portable
Looks great. I'm just surprised that it doesn't come with a carrying case consider it's portability is one of the major selling points and you're likely to move it around.
An update after I had the projector set up for about 3 weeks. It works really great, the auto focus and keystone is a god send for my use case where it projects at an angle from my book shelf. Using a 91" screen which might be a tad to big for my room but there's a zoom feature that easily adjust the size without having to fiddle with key stones. The one problem I have though is that certain parts of the pictures lose focus from time to time. Especially the lower section (made clear by subtitles not being crisp). So far I've just assumed it's beacuse of the angle I'm projecting from, might look into this more if I get the energy for it. All in all though, great piece of gear.
Thanks for such a detailed and useful review. I bought this projector to replace the one I had. I couldn't believe it.. For such a small projector, the quality of the pictures is amazing.its smart too The only complain I have is I tried to connect to echo studio via Bluetooth but it couldn't, no matter how many times I tried. Iam using optical cable.
How does this compare to the LG PF50KA? I would love to see a head-to-head comparison of projectors in this size and weight as these are perfect for digital nomads who want a large screen experience on the go.
Hi! Thanks a lot for your review! I have one simple question for you: Would you have the reference of the tripod you're using in this video please? Where could i find it? I'm looking for one and this one seems perfect! (i trust you on that point :)) Thanks again!
Does the projector need to be straight on, or could it be placed to the side slightly off centre? Also what colour screen would you recommend white, gray or black in a slightly lit room?
I think maybe you mean the keystone correction ? Yeah their offical website says elfin can automatically aligns the image based on +/-40 degree vertical/horizontal angles.
Hi i have the xgimi horizon, and i wanted to buy an elfin to give it to my brothers birthday, i wanted to ask if the elfin is bright enough? At what level is the brightness of the horizon match the maximum of the elfin? Thank you
Many thanks for the review! How does it hold up against the Horizon in terms of watching movies? Is there a huge difference between the two in terms of picture quality? I have a perfectly dark (pitch black actually) room.
Hi, I am trying to play a movie from a USB key inserted into this device. It doesn't read the USB key as a source (key is fine). Can I only play the contents of the USB by playing it on say a latpop and linking the laptop by USB or HDMI?
Laptop would be connected via HDMI, not USB. USB should work, check it's formatting. Not sure what this projector supports but it could be it only wants FAT32 or NTFS ideally.
@@whatsupbudbud Thanks whattsupbud - I did connect the laptop via HDMI and that was fine,. One problem though - does anyone know how to kill the annoying background music that the unit plays over your presentation? I have my own music music I am using for slideshows, but it ends up being mixed in with the background music delivered by the projector. Very annoying!
@@masterkoi29 hello, do you have any link or sources where I can read more about this business relationship between Epson and Xgimi? Or are you maybe getting confused with Approtronics?
Epson projectors are exclusively 3-LCD and do not suffer from any RBE artifact generation that ALL single-DLP projectors like this xgimi are wont to produce. The only manufacturers of 3-chip projectors intended for home use are epson (3-LCD) and sony and jvc (both 3-LCoS). Please do not group single-DLP projectors with 3-chip; there is no comparison. Single-DLP uses sequential color, which is a quaint 1920s-era technology and as crappy.
Like the rest of its ilk, this projector is single-DLP. Single-DLP necessarily means sequential color, which is a 1920s-era technology that can produce massive amounts of headache-inducing rainbow effect (RBE) artifact for those sensitive to it and can't ignore it. No matter how fast a color filter wheel spins or discrete R, G, and B LEDs or lasers flash, the sequential nature will always produce RBE. Are you not going to comment about RBE or issue a missive about test viewing the wretched projector first in case one is sensitive to RBE? Just because a reviewer does not perceive RBE does not mean no-one does either.
Was this sponsored? We’re you given the projector? Xgimi seems to be buying reviews (and some comments) on smaller channels. Like with Amazon, it destroys the legitimacy of reviews on then platform and also hurts honest reviewers.
@all things tech - Would like to get your thoughts as well on Halo+ vs Elfin beyond specs. Any noticeable / viewable differences comparing the two side by side?
@@varunkumar-uq1mv Not exactly same spec but close enough. Elfin has less ANSI lumens (800 vs 900 on Halo+) and less speaker power (3W vs 5W on Halo+). But yes, a bit more cheaper with Elfin with similar enough specs to the Halo+.

Hi!
What do you think Halo+ or Elfin?)
Battery isn’t important for me.
Thanks for the video! Would you recommend this or the halo plus?
I'd like to use this projector for a small church to display white letters . Is it going to be bright enough?
I have one and I love it.

What type of screen would you recommend for the elfin? Thanks!

What about heating issues
Which is better - samsung the freestyle or xgimo elfin? Which will be better for viewing in a room with daylight?

It can project from either side of the screen.

Does it work if no wifi and directly mirroring cellphone?
Does it reverse the image?

i’ve got a z6x. can i put the elfin firmware on it?
What is the HDCP version on this one? Will it support Fire Stick 4K and okay 4K videos??
Yes without any issue
How does it compare to XGIMI Halo+ ?
It’s basically the same projector. Just different design. And the Halo+ has a built in battery. So depends what you want to use it for?
What's going on with no support for the Netflix app? I had an android tv (Sony) and it has those basic streaming apps

What would be the best projector to buy under 1000 euros? I need max 1080p.
If u are spending 1000€ then horizon pro comes at 1400€ , during Black Friday or any seasons ....it’s awesome 4K projector

is it HDR10 or HDR10+ ???? coz at some places it showing HDR10 ....
