Is that her first time holding a speech?

Did anybody else think she didn’t prepare anything until the last minute, printed off a few random quotes and a bunch of lists of irrelevant things and then realised she also hadn’t been trained in speaking publicly? I think all the speakers on both sides have been great so far but Dr Huq was a huge let down for the proposition.

I understand what Dr Huq is saying. PPE is for the museum.

I think Rupa Huq is making a string of silly arguments.
First, all of the politicians also had similar primary school maths, learned English with the same 26 letters of the alphabet, etc. Just because you have learned the same toolset doesn't mean you think alike. Yes, learning primary level power-tools and collegiate power-tools enable success in life, and they can be used for good or evil, for conservative or liberal. Don't blame the instrument.
Second, the point that both conservative and liberal British politicians learn PPE seems to counter her argument, because it demonstrates at least to some extent, that people can reach different conclusions and philosophies from the same academic immersion
Finally, she is confusing "cause" with "separate symptoms/effects emerging from a common cause." The elite problem in the UK isn't caused by the PPE major. The elite-limited gene pool in the UK is caused by the funneling of wealthy/connected people to Oxbridge on a fast track to political power. The fact that all these folks choose a major that is conducive to power is not the cause, but rather a cross-correlation driven by the common factor of an elite fast-track of folks who go to the same schools and choose the optimal major for their ambitions. If you canceled the PPE major without addressing this root cause, they would just pursue a different major.
