But with Yao, it is definitely a sweet and simple relationship with positive vibes. They say Yao can't protect her; there are so many couples whose strongest part is the woman, which does not make a relationship less worthy. She chose him to escape from her parents and to not be controlled in the future. It was not a bad thing; he was honest and loyal to her, and it worked for her. In fact, if there were no drama going on, I think this marriage would have worked if she hadn't broken up that too with less tension
But you have to admire him to say "Whatever you choose is right". He's not influencing ShaoShang, just laid out facts for her and was ok even if she will still choose Lou Yao. That's why it's more swoony that he always will choose her happiness over his.

The first time Yao showed any backbone, was when he grabbed SS hand and went back to break their engagement
SS finally relented and gave up Yao after Ling Buyi’s speech. Although he makes a lot of sense, he still had a conflict of interest 😂
