@@Doodlebud Yeah, it's a blurple, not a royal sapphire blue. Sapphires can be pretty much any colour, but the title Doe state that it's 'Sapphire Blue'. I like it almost as much as I like Kon-Peki; it has similar properties, just .. blurple.
I've used Diamine Sapphire blue and I like it, but I found it tends to bleed on many papers more than most of my other inks, my favourite blue is Noodlers Luxury Blue.
I LOVE Pure Pens! Saltire is a gorgeous blue. Celtic Sea looks great in my Prussian Blue Diamond 580. They make so many fun inks. Your ink videos are great. Us pen nerds love ‘em!
I like messing around with inks but doing the standard ink type review where I do dry times, smear tests, different papers, etc.... I just can't do it LOL
I’ve been using Campus Sara Sara looseleaf paper and Kokuyo Soft Ring notebooks. I like them a lot, not as fancy as Tomoe River, but better priced and practical.
FYI - Kokuyo has refillable notebooks with loose leaf paper like your Muji notebooks. I actually tend to use Maruman loose leaf, though. I like it better than the Kokuyo paper! Kokuyo campus is very student oriented so a lot of the papers have a large margin at the top and a place for the date, which I don’t prefer.
Good to know that you're bad at something, DB! 😆 My pen collection is growing. I now have a Kaweco and waiting for a Muji and Jinhao 9019 to arrive hopefully on Monday together with some Campus loose leafs. Monday Funday! 😇🩵🙏🙌
Hi DB glad you’ve discovered Pure Pens inks. They’re all pretty much superb. Their dark Green is amazing as is Glens of Antrim. Like the 2 you’ve reviewed which I don’t have. Their star buy is Celtic Sea I think their most popular ink. Very pen friendly. Really liking their Saltire blue
Interesting to see you checking out Pure Pens for their inks. I've got a few bottles from theirs and i've generally been enjoying them. Also, I wonder if the Saltire just doesn't travel well. I'm in the UK and my bottle somehow leaked even though it only traveled by land, where as none of their others did.
Hi DB! Thanks for the thorough ink and paper review! I really don't mind a purply sapphire, as I am a BIG fan of Pelikan Edelstein Sapphire, which is not dissimilar to the Diamine ink you had. Variety is the spice of life!
That was fun. Your Sapphire Blue looks a bit different from mine, which is a bright colour which I greatly prefer to J. Herbin Eclat de Saphir. Still not as good as Waterman Serenity Blue, though, for that eyecatching style.
It still didn't show up right in the video, but mine is very lavender colored. Thats ok if you want a Lavender/Purple ink, just wasnt what I was hoping for. I'm not a big fan of Serenity Blue. Its a very well behaved ink, but the color just seems "Meh" to me.
Hoping you can recommend some good notebooks for me...I'm going to be the Stormwater Program coordinator for my university, and it's kind of a huge undertaking. I need a nice, not spiral-bound notebook (these get destroyed in my bag!). This is for notes that I take for myself during meetings, discussions, inspections, trainings, etc. I'd prefer a table of contents, and I want it to actually look nice and be durable. A hundred pages minimum, that should get me through a year. The closest fountain pen store to me is in Toronto, but I'm in the US, and don't really want to travel 4 hours and across the border just to look at notebooks.
You have great looking handwriting! I assume you work on it. Could you make a video saying how you improved your handwriting over the years you have been on TH-cam?
o'omomo, long "o" like "ou" or saying the name of the letter "o" twice in a row, which is always confusing in the transliteration. The most obvious meaning is "big peach", & I don't see why that _wouldn't_ be what it means
Now I wish I lived closer to you - my Diamine Sapphire Blue is running out, and I really like it (o:
Its nice, just not what I was expecting. Seems to me like the name doesn't quite fit the color I guess

I mentioned your channel when I visited the shop earlier this week. Thanks for the recommendation! I even found a few bottles in the bargain bin!
First stop.... bargain bin!

@@Doodlebud you should come up with the Doodlebud Ink Review.
I use Campus notebooks a lot and their looseleaf paper works great with most of the inks I have.
That's good to hear! I'm waiting for the loose leafs to arrive on Monday. Never tried it before. ❤️👍

So far I've been really liking it. Really wet pens/inks are too much for it, but for regular daily notes etc, its pretty damn good!

The zoom nib reminds me of the bobby nib, which is like a mini fude nib

That Houseplant verse in the bottom corner is a haiku! That's so cool that they put a haiku on their notebook.
I very much like this terrible ink review, thank you!
Thank you. The thought of doing the "standard" ink review/tests makes me not want to do ink videos 😆
Thank you for performing water test.
Oo, I love pure pens, they do my favourite orange ink. Pendine Sands. It's absolutely beautiful.

Its gotta be the packaging

Ooooh that zoom nib. Gonna have to find the other video. That's right up my alley.

So "take home message": Baystate Blue is supreme evil, it bleeds through paper, and burns into the plastic of the pen.
The ultum is probably safe

Kyowa: For great justice.

It's plumbers tape and you are right it doesn't work.
Didnt look like plumbers tape on mine. Was just basic clear scotch tape type
