I was heartened to hear, "These positions are not as straightforward as they seem." It's horrible when you are in a winning position with huge pressure on the king with numerous pieces but you can't find the combo to do it and, at least in my case, stuff it up!
I lived through this many times too, always believing that I had been extremely dumb not to see some continuations.
“This attack is so good it must be mate shortly...and I’ve blundered my queen”
I forget who said it but there's a famous quote in chess that "the hardest thing in chess is winning a won position"
th-cam.com/video/4JH322-hqxw/w-d-xo.html amazing double sacrifice. M Hewitt vs W.Steinitz 1866
Cheapshotfail. I think it was either lasker or capablanca who said that. Great quote it's so true
I absolutely love the way Danya teaches. He is always thorough but does ramble and he doesn't make anyone feel bad for asking a stupid question. You can tell he loves this game and he loves teaching!
You meant doesn't ramble?
Thanks for demonstrating the practice of post-game analysis before just diving straight into the engine, then also the pleasure and learning you can subsequently get from an engine. Great lesson!
This is one of the best speedrun videos to date. Absolutely UNREAL engine ideas in the end for added pleasure. Wonderful job danya thank you
I love your unbridled enthusiasm when the engine finds a ridiculously cool sequence. 😀
I have started analyzing my games without an engine first and it has done me wonders. I appreciate it! If you don't do this, I really recommend trying it!
Can you elaborate? I just don't understand how that is beneficial for me as a 1600.
@@Kokurorokuko not sure what you being 1600 has to do with anything-analyzing without an engine is valuable for beginners like yourself all the way up through magnus level because it forces you to really think about the position and form your own conclusions before verifying with the engine
What do you mean you can't benefit from it because you're 1600 haha. Dude anyone can analyse their games I'm not sure if your trying to act like being 1600 is too high rated or if you're saying you're too low rated. But I'm 1350 and always analyse my games it definitely helps. At 1600 I'd imagine there would be even more interesting things to analyse than there would be in my games and then it gets more interesting the higher rated you get. Chess like life is about learning from mistakes and that's what analysing your game does tbh
@@crazyboysince1998 I mean, it's just so hard to tell if your move was good or bad if you have no experience. But I guess I should try.
I like the sarcastic "simple line right there" when analyzing at 18:00
I've honestly learned more about chess from these 3 speedruns than I have from everything else combined.
Always amazing to see what can be lurking in a position.
Really enjoying you analyzing with the engine on Chessbase in depth. It helps people see how to analyze with the engine properly. Maybe you could load your games into chessbase more? Thanks danya
A new Danya video? My night is made. Can't describe how much I look forward to these!
I think doing playlists for the different oppenings would be a great idea
That poor pawn just got yeeted into enemy territory.
My dopamine spikes violently when I see the new upload red dot by my Danya subscription
Beautiful game and analysis showing the various attacking ideas really help to understand the position. Great teaching from Danya as always!
Such an informative video. Thank you Daniel, it's really cool to see you go over the engine analysis as well. I learned a lot.
I always appreciate when Danya tells us we shouldn’t expect to see what the engine does, I always feel like an idiot when I go into game review and see all the “obvious” stuff I missed 😂
the most motivating part of this is that two 1700s in a row have just completely missed mate in one - maybe I'm not as bad as I thought lmao
Steinitz Science one million percent. Thank You on extenda mix.
Danya is awesome and so serious and enthusiastic about chess yet still throws in these little jokes its hilarious! "The unstoppable threat of checkmate" ... Mate in one "I think that wins for white" lol
Love your videos Danya I've been watching for a few months and my elo has gone from 900 to 1200. Thanks for the great content
Really nice to see how an engine can be used to see really interesting stuff even at a high level, like GM Danya’s.
For a newbie like me I hope to use one to help me look at my basic mistakes but also to understand some gotchas that lead to yuckiness. Tried watching videos about how to use an engine properly but, well, suffice it to say I wish GM Danya would make one showing how beginner, intermediate and advanced players could best leverage this technology.🙏🤞
I just love after game analysis of this game.. Crazy tactical game..👌👌👌
Thanks again Danya! I'm starting to see improvements in my game just because of general principles i've learned through your videos. I'm very much aiming for creativity over openings because of you. also, i played nd1-b3 just for the fun of it (it's not working out great yet!!1). I love your work man
He did blunder partially because of pressure. But there is also the fact that playing openings like the french don't develop much tactical awareness as you will typically get closed games where correct moves are often subtle and rely on strategic ideas rather then tactical lines. You can find evidence in the opponents unwillingness to play into anything outside of his precious setup by seeing his response to Nf3 not taking the pawn, as that would open up the position more and he simply can't handle playing those kinds of positions.
I am so glad I finished watching the video and played this exact line and won :D
Danya after every match: I did not play it the cleanest way
because there's always a cleaner way
I'll be cheering for Danya in this one. No spoilers in the comments, please.
He wins
He lost
Stalemate
He draws
1.e4
His fan audio levels increased dramatically when he opened his engine
I was just looking for a Daniel video while I eat! Yesssss
Yet another brilliant video. I can't thank you enough 😃
Nice game and crazy analysis!
The classical tunnel vision blunder. I prepared a fork, i gotta play it and then take one of the rooks. WHOOPS got checkmated in the meantime
That was extremely entertaining and educational.
What a game, great analysis, thank you.
Who needs to sleep when Danya uploads anew video
Move 6, Danya: "And this position is already pretty bad for Black"
5:20 thoughts on Ne5 here? Threatens to win black's bishop with pawn push and also prevents it developing right away. Also prevents f6. looks like it hangs the d6 pawn but Nxg6 would be winning no?
I'd love to see Danya playing the Reti gambit against the French defense sometime.
I second this
The engine is ruthless. Sometimes the engine suggests moves that look bad, and those moves are the most dangerous, because our first instinct is to ignore the bad move and continue with our ideas. The final line woth Be3 was insane and would result in any player below 1800 falling for it
"Okay now I propose that we don't procrastinate" so true
It's so cool to see the Prophet being corrected by his Prophet
insane analysis, this position was packing
a nice game and crazy analysis x2
15:13 I tried this irl, they called the cops for some reason.
At 4:16 why not a3 followed by Qxd5?
At 4:20 , couldn't you play a3 or c3 to kick out the knight and then Qxd5, winning a pawn and protecting d6?
yes and it was actually explained in the analysis, Danya admitted
Again 1800 blunders mate in 1. Incredible.
This is so great
I always struggled with this position now I sort of know how to play it thanks
The engine lines were something else in this one. LOL
dam them engine lines tho 😂
5:25 why didn't Daniel consider Ne5?
Great game with disappointing missed checknate by opponent, but stunning ideas from the Engine at the end. Wow.
1:30 I don't get how "black is not well developed" after Bxc5. He has 2 pieces developed (Bishop and Knight on c6) and a solid pawn structure while whites pawn on e5 is not defendable by another pawn .
I agree that he might have phrased that badly. The point is more that black is awkwardly developed. More specifically how the queen and bishop is placed to be vulnerable to na4. Also the dark squared bishop is very locked in, and it can be very costly to lose the dsb in a french structure.
Didn’t you have a3 or c3 instead of Bf4 picking up the pawn on e5 like you mentioned earlier after the knight leaves
Losing is good for the winner inside of me......the art of the game has changed because so many use an "engine" for post game analysis ....I study master games from the old old old days.... Alekhine Blackburne Capablanca Botvinnik Morphy Fischer.....I do like to study naroditsky and radjabov.... that what helps me ..... thank you for posting this information.....
9:00 It's surprising to me that 1700s aren't seeing the threat of mate in 1. Or they are and they just spite take still? I am only 950 and I am able to spot these threats.
Love you danya
why not rb3 to attack the queen on b6 after nc2 forking the 2 rooks?
*simple line right there*
If I had these positions I think I would play c3 to kick the knight instantly. I can go for the attack but if I miscalculate and my attack fails, Nxc2 wins material and I will probably lose, thus I usually choose the safest no-risk approach. Of course Danya calculates everything and goes for the attack directly lol
Your opponent makes it through a crazy opening and then blunder mate 1 after a think classic
"simple line" 🤣
Maybe he just had enough of defending - feeling like he was playing the fish 😏
Also many sick computer lines! Some of the concepts are so out of the box 🤠
14:32 Not sure if Rb3 is such a good move because of Ba4
How can we play against you on speed runs?
Those engine lines were bonkers wtf
I can't believe I've found a move GM Danya had missed, but couldn't you at 4:20 get rid of knight with a3 and take Qd5 protecting d6?
I saw that too I’ll check with an engine tomorrow
We were right!! It works
Darn, your tomorrow comes fast ;)
@@animantus Lol he analyzed it later in the video 😂
@@petergriffin8767 Yeah, you're right, now I've reached that point of video too, but the point remains ;)
It always amazes me to see 1800s blundering mate in 1 like this. Like, did he not see it?
He probably saw it but he imagined Danya saying, “do you want to be slowly roasted to death or be immediately executed?” And he chose being immediately executed.
@@jonathanangladadavis lol. I would still prefer slow roasting, every move you survive against a GM is like a win.
One thing I do when I’m in a super losing position is instead of resigning I just give away the checkmate. It’s kind of a little gift for my opponent. It’s like me saying, “okay you got me. You played better than me this time. Here you go”
Maybe wasn’t the case here but it might explain some of these other late game “blunders”
If I don't resign I'm trying hard to win. Playing losing positions is educational
This is how the games for these ranks should look like. The opponent made solid, human moves.
The notion of players below 2200 outplaying Danya in the opening because "it's all theory" or "all moves were logical" is ludicrous.
This was a textbook example of a legit game where Danya's opponent has a vague idea of the theory & healthy moves but still never puts Danya in trouble because he doesn't understand chess beyond that superficial level.
There are plenty of players at that level who knows the basic theory of their openings, myself included. There was a stream, where even a SuperGM Karjakin played against some friend who was 1900 and was outplayed in the opening, because that 1900 had some theory prepared in the Najdorf, but he completely collapsed in the middlegame when that theory ran out. To say that even a player like Danya can't be outplayed in the opening against a prepared opponent is ignorant and Danya would disagree with you as well.
Been using the steinitz successfully in my games as of late. I feel like it really takes French players out of their game
Can you play the classical french as black?
Not sure how he missed the mate in 1. As a 900 I clearly saw it after you pointed it out.
👍👍👍
❤️
fewer engine lines pls
Danya pleaaaaase regroup the games by openings it would be extremely helpful I like the idea a lot
You could make a playlist of all his videos based on a certain opening you find interesting
"I think the french is a good opening" 🤓🤓🤓
Good one bro 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 got all the minor pieces laughing 😭
Lol, in his earliest videos he says something like, "one of the most important ways to analyze your games is with an engine. Always evaluate your games through an engine!" to "I DoNT bELiEvE iN EnGinES"... It's kind of silly.
Then he proceeds to pretend he's not staring directly at the best move in each position while saying, "I think this is probably the best move in the position"
Like bro, why pretend stockfish isn't running on your screen? It's childish
Boy at this level the defense can be pathetic. It's all about their huge cancerous childlike egos, they only think about their possibilities.
Just in time for the midnight blunt
I always advance against the French.
Most European warlords agree
This video is even better the second time.
Next speed run will be one opening only 👍 Kid and kia
Isnt this smurfing
First
First!!
Imagine a universe where two rooks on the back rank and nothing else is enough to checkmate just a lone king
Nxc2. Prophet strikes again!
