Linguistically, musically, magnificent diversity, the young man from Nigeria and the lady who closed the show, were standouts - for me. All were wonderful in their own way.
*_Beautiful_* is just too small a word to describe this collection. The delicate transitions from one song to the next make each performance stand out --- yet all are a part of a memorable experience for this listener. The final haunting notes of Lithuania's Vakarė Jarmalavičiūtė had me fumbling to find my cursor to replay the whole. Happy, happy 2023 to everyone!
What a way to kick off this year! Some amazing powerhouse performances here that are worthy of being sung in the Final! Thanks Pure, as always, for your time and efforts in putting these together!!
Vakarė Jarmalavičiūtė gave me goosebumps. I'm unfamiliar with that old folk song, but her voice and interpretation were impressive. Bonus: spotting Tarja Turunen on the jury of The Voice Senior Finland
I too was impressed with her singing that song. "Tai Gražiai Gieda Lakstingalėlė" translates to "The nightingale sings beautifully". This folk song reminds me of the Ukrainian song "The duckiling floats on the Tysnia" about a young man who goes off to war.
4 TALENTO DEMAIS! Great start for the new year! I enjoyed this one from beginning to end. And as an old guy, I appreciate it when add an old guy or gal to your mix from the senior shows. As always, nice work, Pure!

Happy New Year, my friend!! 💁🏻♀️💕 You’ve certainly set the tone for the year with this incredible compilation! Norway and Nigeria have kicked everything off handily with some amazing talent, and the last one from Lithuania was a stirring rendition. So hauntingly beautiful!! 👏👏😍
Yes, obviously a very meaningful song, and close to the hearts of Lithuanians. Anyone from Lituania, please tell us more about the importance of this song please.

_English (edited)_ ---
The nightingale sings so beautifully
In the green cherry-tree garden
On the apple-tree twig
The young brother is standing
Leaning on the level crossing
On a black horse
My brother, my young one
The mother is waiting for you
To come back from the war
She is sewing a shirt for you
And crying sorrowfully
My young son will be back soon
Please let her sew and cry sorrowfully
I won't come back anymore
I won't saddle my horse anymore.
_Lithuanian_ ---
Tai gražiai gieda
Lakštingalėlė
Žaliam vyšnių sodelyj
Ant obelies šakelės
Oi stovi rymo
Jaunas bernelis
Ant pervažo tiltelio
Ant juodbėrio žirgelio
Broleli mano
Jaunasis mano
Laukia tavęs motulė
Iš vainelės parjojant
Marškinius siuva
Ir gailiai verkia
Pareis sūnelis
Iš didelės vainelės
Oi tegul siuva
Ir gailiai verkia
Jau aš daugiau negrįšiu
Žirgelio negražinsiu.
