The places/history that you guys show us is truly wonderful. Personally , I would never know about or visit a fraction of the places that you guys visit and share with us!
    Thank you all.

Thank you for the laughs Gareth...weyyy... Energy certainly does permeate into the current fabric of this place. Castles are great there is a castle that still has a moat around Hastings I think. Thanks to all fab episode.

I used to record in Battle near Hastings and always thought there was a vibe down that way!

Hayup Gareth great stuff best way to diffuse them past battles with laughter!
I thought you where over well held.
There was certainly a lot of takeover running up to the mid 1600,s hah.
Energy in the fabric of the place an the walls, my dad believed that particularly older buildings with lime plaster held the past more vividly an this was based on past on to him knowledge of older artisan plasterers, plus his own appraisal! indeed our old farm house he was careful not to do too much other than necessary repairs, when we sold the place to a young builder, a year or so past an the chap phoned my dad for advice that seamingly he had stirred up some old spirits through over alteration of the place, my dad advised to honour the past structure more an it all calmed down! Odd but true.
I recall Breamore house was taken by Henry the 8 th, he wanted the place so chopped the geezers head off, I guess it saves the bother of negotiating an onward chains an all that back in the day.
    Cheers

I think bringing laughter to dark history is definitely important!

“I’m in shorts again; I don’t learn, do I?” - lol. However, on my end, learned the history of the song (and thanks for the song, Phil). Also thx for the hx, men. See you later :)💪

Long before Wakefield became a City and eventually the County Capital of the West Riding, Sandal & Agbrigg was the Capital of the Wapentake, So it's likely that the whole Sandal Ridge was Fortified though as far as I know there's not been any investigation into that. Next time you come to Wakefield, check out Cannonball Hill/Lowe Hill (Lion Hill in Germanic?) across the river, good pints in the Holmfield Arms too :)

No rail lines? That was a great bit of history and nice footage. Sorry that you guys had to learn about such a long line of leaders and wars. I never liked that part of history, European or US. However, as a young child I recall learning those two songs you guys noted: up and down and ring around the rosy

I think all nations history is built on mass death, basically. Not uplifting!

Its rumoured that when the Castle fell to Clifford in around 1317 due a dispute over a woman, the Warrenes escaped through a tunnel in the Keep Well that went all the way to the Cellars of the Great Bull Inn on Westgate.

I agree. Have we changed st all? Can it be fixed or will it always just be human nature?

history seems to make less and less sense to me now. Why would thet destroy the fortifications after the capture ? why not utilise it for their own benefit . And those huge curved stones really do not look like they were built by a horse and cart population of about a twentieth of today , but great video nonetheless thanks Gareth and the team 💖💖
