Thanks so much. My lapageria was not doing well. Repoted it as you suggest and a miracle happened. Many new shoots, My lapageria is now very vigorous. Thanks, thanks, thanks.
hey Pierre, I bought one from Gilberto about a year ago. My balcony in Sydney is very windy and I was convinced I was slowly killing it, but in the last month it has suddenly sprouted all this new growth and now looks very happy. So I'm just keeping up the water and the Seasol and crossing my fingers.
I purchased one of these from Gilberto by mail about a year ago. I've got it on a climbing frame on my VERY windy east-facing balcony in Sydney, where it only gets about two hours morning sun. I keep thinking I'm killing it, then it surprises me by sending out lots of new growth. Any ideas how long before I might see a flower?
Most likely the windy balcony is a problem, so try to protect it from the wind. (easy for me to say) Then its soil, moisture, fertiliser and light. So try to mimic what Gilberto does in the video. You could also ask him directly, or if not, I can ask for you next time i talk to him.
Yes, nothing I can do about the wind I'm afraid. But it's looking very healthy which is encouraging. If you could ask Gilberto how long before the first flowers appear I would be interested to know. Thanks Johnny!
David Butler Hi David, hope you don’t mind me chiming in, but I had my first flowers when the plant was 3 years old and kept in my cool greenhouse here in Scotland. Only a few flowers, but they were glorious!
@@eccremocarpusscaber5159 Don't mind at all, actually love to hear things like that. It is amazing what gardeners can grow if they really want to. And in Scotland, I imagine that Lapageria are not grown by many. Great to hear from you.
Gilberto provides an information sheet on that, he sends that out with plant sales, I will see if he is prepared to share that separately. Or perhaps do an ongoing care video.
Where can you buy these plants. I used to have one and it died. I tried to find another one from the same outfit I bought that one and they did not sell them anymore.
Freeport Il. I know it's cold here. I kept it in the basement and it was fine and then I moved it upstairs to the living room the next year and it died. I think it liked the basement better.
Excellent video....regards from Chile 🇨🇱

Thanks for that, I will pass the comment on to Gilberto who is the real star of the show...
Pierre CARTIGNY what do you mean “as he suggested?” Did you use the same types of soil?

How do we get the instructions to care for Copihues that he mentions at end of video?

johnny A Oh I see. I’m in San Diego, California. Not sure if you ship here. But it would be great to be able to get those instructions!

Hello Christine, where are you located ?
Freeport Il. I know it's cold here. I kept it in the basement and it was fine and then I moved it upstairs to the living room the next year and it died. I think it liked the basement better.
The only places we know are in California (Sonoma Horticultural) and they do not send by mail order.
Thanks for the info.
Hello Christine Sacred Succulents typically has them and the owners have great plants.
