    Some excellent exsamples Gearfacts. Nice work. Not got round to sampling on it yet. Spent the evening after work auditioning all the patches and writing down the ones I like. It would have been easier to write the ones I didn't. Didn't get to sleep till 3.30am! Tremendous fun. The obvious thing first would be to sample my mono synths and enjoy them in polyphony. Keep them coming. Fab job as always.

    I’ve just found your channel while researching the mz-x series. What’s your thoughts on the 1000V compared to the MZ-X series?
    One of the things I really like about the videos that you dive deeper into the devices is that you are showing that very often there is a lot more then what you get from a first Impression.
    My first keyboard was a yamaha DJX. Your videos showed what it’s capable of and when I owned it I had no idea how to use it. Really enjoyed watching them.
    I’ve learned that It’s really
    important to use your creativity and find a way that each instrument works for you. I use a lot of other software and gear but I still find these Casio devices useful for for very specific purposes that the other equipment might not do so well.
    Thanks for the great vids! Keep on diving 😀👍🏻

      Wow it sounds like you've received the message of this channel exactly as I hoped people would! Thanks so much for watching and for 'getting it' :)
      As fr Casio CT-S1000 vs MZ-X series boards, I'd choose the CT-S1000 because of the chromatic sampler rather than button samper (though that's a matter of personal taste), superior basic soundset (the MZ-X series does not have the AiX processor) and greater portability. The MZ-X boards are painful to use too, they offer so many features but systematically suck the fun out of every single one of them as you explore the keyboard. I think the MZ highlights a big, long-term problem for Casio - great ideas badly, disastrously implemented. The CT-S boards address this issue to some extent, they're easier to program and simply more fun to use. And after all, that's why we do music!

      @@gearfacts thanks for the reply! I’m going to dig much deeper into my s1000v now. Your videos have been a big help with explaining its potential. I’ll admit I overlooked a lot of it because it was not knob per function like other synths I’m using. I’ll have to spend some time setting it up for the way I like to work. I see what you mean with the MZ-X. Great potential but poor implementation . It shouldn’t take 5 minutes to adjust an envelope 😄 and many of the synthesis options are in a very non-standard way. They should have included an option to speed up the knob turning. I will say the pads were really great. Very easy on the fingers when tapping. Thanks for your feedback! You definitely have a long history of experience. I like your approach with being detailed and to the point .. but still leaving the final opinion to the user. 👍🏻

    thanks for perfect demo, i am sure i will have fun in studio, but can i use it on a live gig? On korg and yamaha arranger keyboard you just choose style tempo and instruments and you can start - here it might be very complicated - first register everything etc.? Please tell us more about it..

    • @HubertEtAlice
      @HubertEtAlice 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree. There aren't enough buttons. The problem is that you can use the 5 assignable buttons under the screen either for regs it for style controlling, but not for both at the same time. This could be tricky for live performing.

I did format my usb and then put a registration on bank 1 via media as I have the keyboard at the moment... Only the registration name is saved except for the setting itself what am I doing wrong ??

      @@gearfacts Bluetooth audio is only in one direction but I have not understood whether it goes from the keyboard to an external system or the other way round. It goes beyond my understanding why Bluetooth audio is not bidirectional (but Bluetooth MIDI is).

    I thought I could use wav files via a USB stick, using samples to load onto the keyboard, but according to Jeremy See, it doesn't receive audio data. Is that right?

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      According the manual it'll take wav files. I just used the casio default files because they load a bit more quickly. Bear in mind that the wav files might need quite specific specifications (eg. the stick must be formatted by the actual keyboard, not your PC), Casio tends to reject anything that's not absolutely as per their specifications.

      *.wav is universal, but it comes in different resolutions (like pictures) and I think the Casio will only accept 44.1khz, 16bt stereo. Luckily, this is the most common type :) @@heliotron8042

    How did you get the sampled sound into the casio? Every time you said I'm gonna sample, you just started playing the sound on the casio. I'm still confused as to how the micro korg(or whatever else) connects to the casio. Also, how else can we sample? There's no onboard mic, right?
    Hope you can clarify. Thanks!

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sound being sampled goes in through the AUX-IN socket at the back, right next to the headphone socket. And no, there's no onboard mic.

    Hi Glynn this is dynamite. I am wondering why the official introductory videos put all the emphasis on the speech synthesis and don’t talk much about the sounds let alone the sampling capabilities of this keyboard. Yamaha missed the train here. Looking forward to the next vid

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, the more I look at this the more I think it's going to be a bad year for Yamaha keyboards, which is just the opposite of what I was expecting. I've been looking at the voice creator app that Casio have made for this keyboard and unfortunately it requires an obscure adapter to connect to the keyboard. It won't even use the app over bluetooth. This is all early info though, I'm hoping there'll be a simple answer. Then I can demonstrate yet another interesting feature of this almost-revolutionary keyboard.

    • @HubertEtAlice
      @HubertEtAlice 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gearfacts The "obscure adapter" is a cheap micro USB to standard USB, then you can use a regular USB cable to connect your phone or tablet to the keyboard. If you are using an iPad it'll be a micro USB to Lightning adapter. It is true they could have put the adaptor into the box (given it'll cost only a tiny fraction of the price of the included Bluetooth adapter).
      And you're right, there aren't enough buttons to control the wealth of functionalities of the CT-S1000V. We need the CT-S1000V sound engine with the front panel of the PSR EW425.
      Besides, the price is probably too high for a Casiotone. With 100 USD more, one could consider buying the PSR SX600.
      I'd like to see more in depth demos of the E473/EW425. It's a shame Yamaha have made the less sexy advertising campaign for a keyboard ever. These two keyboards are worth more than their face value.
