@@845_Mk6 There's an entire world being missed by not having a shifter. Vintage F1 immediately comes to mind, not to mention road cars. Do you only drive formula cars when you sim race?
@ I do mainly drive open wheel on asseto but I’ve got plenty of mods to dabble into other disciplines I use a thrustmaster wheel and the th8a shifter for the last 6 years it’s been amazing they’ve lasted almost daily use for 6 years
I think maybe with Senna's throttle technique you could have gone even faster, as that prevents the rpm to not lower much and prevents some of that turbo lag
Nah, most likely not. The real life conditions and microscopic changing reactions of the car cannot be fully replicated in game. Even if it could, this style is super specific to senna and he could only really make it work with his particular setup preferences and also because he had been using that style since his early karting days, so he knew how to make it work for him. It’s better to drive the way you know rather than completely and radically overhaul it to use an extreme technique.
The technique helps with turbo lag but is mainly used to keep the rear of the car loaded through the middle of corners. Ben Collins (ex-stig) talks about it in one of his videos about how it was used all the way back in his f3 days while racing brundle
Also pretty difficult to do without a h pattern cos you can’t blip in neutral or with clutch down to rev match. Also have to cycle through all gears individually which keeps revs low.
@@Tom0316_ RPM and turbo lag was probably a reason Senna blipped the throttle, but he did it without a turbo, and what he’s likely doing is finding the cars limits.
So We here Monaco 1988 Pole Lap LONG AWAITED❤️ If we talk about More Retro Poles -Italy 2008 - 1:37.555 (S.Vettel🇩🇪 , STR3) -Britain 1950 - 1:50.8 (G.Farina🇮🇹 , 158) -Germany 1976 (Last Pole in Nordschleife) - 7:06.5 (J.Hunt🇬🇧 , M23) -Belgium 1995 (Last V12 Pole) - 1:54.392 (G.Berger🇦🇹 , 412 T2)
Incredible lap as always. I think a couple of wall taps are quite fine. One thing to note though is that the auto-blip assist definitely has a time penalty. I reckon there is a lot of time to be found esp under braking with manual clutch.
Mclaren released the race setup for the car. He was using like -2.25 and -0.5 rear camber, typre pressure were front 19, 17 rear, it also gives you the gear ratio's but you need to combine the step gear and final together. It gives you suspension, ARB tension etc. It also gives you front ride height of 43mm and 67mm on the ear. The springs were 77.5nm front and 92.5nm rear
It's fine Tom, on this track and with that car even if you brushed the wall a couple of times it's not a big deal... that last lap was amazing, well done!. I suggest Malaysia 2017, in order to beat Lewis you have to do a sub 90 seconds lap; I would like to see if you can do it.
Any of the 2010 Renault laps of Robert Kubica could be a really good shout. His lap to get P2 on the grid at Monaco was special, perhaps one for the future?
You are very good, well done👏👏To understand how fantastic were the things that the legend Senna did on the track, we have to put into the equation the pressures his body was under, the risks he took on a track like Monaco, which is very easily to destroy the car and not be able to run the next day.. and many other parameters such as the safety that was very average in those days..Many of his laps was from another planet absolutely..Boss of F1 forever✌️
With a shifter, to me at least, I lose almost a second to the paddles. The timing of the clutch-throttle press, braking with the right foot, one hand at the wheel most of the lap. Those things matter a lot.
Tbh for this to be close to irl as possible ( I know it’s dumb to by a H-pattern for 1 vid is dumb) but you’d have to have that, because it makes it quite harder to drive, along with heel and toeing would make this 100x more harder especially if you’d have to learn it
You hate those F2 cars, so I am not going to suggest any Jim Clark or Jackie Stewart pole laps. How about the 1997 European GP? Can you make it 4 cars with the exact same lap time?
You can say a lot of bad things about F1 today, but one thing that is much better than this is the field spread. In this example there is a gap of almost 1,5 seconds between the first and second car. in 2024 the slowest qualifyer was only around 1,5 seconds of the first. I know a lot has changed between then and now, like simulators, budget cap etc. But the overall level of F1 is much higher. The slowest driver to qualify was a whopping 6,5 seconds off pole.
i think your neck fx settings are messing with the angle it looks like your car is driving, it's delaying the veiw and feels disconnected from the car. Nice video, just a thing to change for future hotlapping vidoes to help with not banging the walls as much (;
a shifter is indeed expensive for 1 video but a shifter with manual clutch would be fun and interesting to watch.
Like what I feel like it’s a lap time thing idk why you wouldn’t have a shifter with the type of set up

true but its still not real life so its harder to implicate it to the game

Thanks!
It's crazy to think how senna did it with a limited time and real risks
First Lewis Hamilton Pole Lap for Mercedes: China 2013

Fernando Alonso’s first pole lap with Ferrari

Tom, you should've tried rFactor 2 just for the Senna lap. rFactor 2 has Monaco laser scanned and a paid MP4/4 Mod.
The Monaco laser scan is for the current layout which is a fair bit faster than how it was in ‘88. Good for any pole laps from 2016 onwards though
@@Anon24052 yes you're are right. The piscine chicanes where modified as well as Rascasse corner. Both were much slower in the 80s and 90s

É muito gratificante ver que a galera admira o nosso Senna, orgulho de ser brasileiro, parabéns pelo conteúdo, obrigado! 🇧🇷
I attempted this same challenge earlier this year with fully unassisted manual! I beat Prost but could not beat Senna at all!

The senna series is awesome
The official F1 game should have old F1 cars from a random season in it may be as a unlock when you win the championship.
I think the main difference here is that those cars could not cut any of the chicane after the tunnel... the curb was massive...
I wonder if you'll start diving a bit into the endurance world, maybe start off with Kobayashi's Lemans quali record
Any of the 2010 Renault laps of Robert Kubica could be a really good shout. His lap to get P2 on the grid at Monaco was special, perhaps one for the future?
I don’t know if it would be possible with the weather but I would love to see the Monza 2008 pole lap.
I've been hoping and waiting for this one!!! Thanks for even attempting it... I know it was a big ask, but thank you 👍👍💯
Cheers

Do Felipe Massa first pole for Williams in Austria 2014
rosberg's pole lap at silverstone 1985 would be sick
Cool video and really cool to hear the iconic engine sound from the Mclaren MP4-4
You could try to replicate schumacher's last pole lap in a Ferrari❤

0:30, are you getting these lap times from the F1 official website or somewhere else?
Seems like the official f1 website
@ Woah I had no idea F1 had an archive of race results since 1950 😳
Suggestion for Can you beat the pole lap: Niki Laudas 1975 German GP Pole Lap
no way bros using shift paddles instead of H-pattern 💀 that just takes all the skill out of
i mean even max touched the wall a few times in his Monaco pole. i personally wouldn't hold it over you tom. great video.
Have you ever done the first F1 pole position lap? Could be fun to go back to where it all began
I actually did this with an H-Pattern and Clutch :D
Love the camera movement
try to beat the very first pole lap in f1 ever of nino Farina in silverstone in 1950
Massa Interlagos '08? 🙏

Senna's proud of you tom you can do it
Please do nordschlife with the 70s F1 cars. Just see how fast those guys were back then

can you add rain in that game?
I never played it but the pole lap was set on wet track

What game is this and what platform?
Well done !!!
Ayrton Senna ...#Legend
The mp4/4 have a manual gearbox ... I can see that you dont have a shifter so... try with a H pattern shifter and use the 3 pedals next time, son.
