Thin silk Long John pants or shorts (I wear these if I don’t want as much warmth) are great under wool or cashmere trousers. They stop skin irritation, add extra warmth, keep the trousers cleaner and are so much easier and faster to wash than woolies (delicate cycle, hang dry). I keep a black pair and a nude pair around during winter, to wear with my wool trousers. I wear long-sleeved silk tees under my sweaters, too. They are expensive, but a great addition to a natural-fiber wardrobe like mine, and last for ages. Women’s always have low necklines, so I just got a white and a black men’s versions of the tees for those sweaters that have high necklines, men’s necklines are higher, crew-cut. I have several average-quality wool (not merino wool) sweaters that I love, but they itched me like mad above the scoop necklines of my silk undies in the past.

With Sezane is even harder because there’s no reviews on the website OR clear photos 😂 I mean the photos are gorgeous, but they don’t show details or important things we need to see on the garments. Pants are super tricky, since I came to the US it has become really tough to find good ones.
I love pants from Aritzia and Theory. I am petite and I get annoyed if I need to spend extra money and time to hem them, so it’s nice that these brands have cropped or petite version. I am starting to explore pants from Sezane so your review really helps!
I always wanted to try Aritzia pants, the “effortless” ones. They look so nice but because they’re polyester I never felt they were worth the money. I do have a pair from Abercrombie that’s in polyester (crepe) but actually feels great and so durable - I’ve worn over 30 times and washed at least 4-5! I love that they have several lengths and a curve love line. I will check out Aritzia again and maybe this time I’ll take the plunge. I really need a pair of tan/beige trousers! Mila, I’m old now, but when I was your size, I had the same troubles as you do with pants. When trying on pants that pulled a bit right at the hipline but otherwise fit well, I would look to see if there was extra fabric at the hemline. If so, I could use some of that fabric to create a gusset in the crotch. There usually wasn’t enough fabric to make a gusset, though. So… I made myself a few prototype styles of pants in muslin, tweaking the fit and altering the crotch area for a custom fit. I made up a few pairs in different fabrics, and resigned myself to the fact that I would always need bespoke pants. I created patterns from the muslin prototypes, and was able to then supply a tailor with patterns and fabric from then on. A good tailor can do all this for you - except possibly for the fabric shopping. It’s actually easier than searching constantly for great pants. 😊
All my Theory wool pants are cut well for curvy girls. I've worn them over 100x and they still look crisp and brand new, even when I machine wash/dry. They are a little longer side but easily hemmed. I can't afford them new but have good luck finding them resold. The way the fabric drapes is just gorgeous.
@@rachelWDV3485 I got mine used for $40 and $30 at a thrift store but they were unworn. I wouldn't have tried them otherwise but they got hundreds of wears each!!!

The ones available are wonderful, but I think the ecru and the rosewood, for example, might show bumps more easily. @milainnewyork Calvin Klein professional pants usually fit me well. That is the main brand I get those. Also, as crazy as it sounds, Target sometimes has good ones (I mean, the ones with hidden elastic in the waist. Another plus is that I never have to alter them). I do have to say though, hardly they are made of natural fabric.

I have the Matthew pants and Damon trousers and love them. I am also curvy and 5’5” (165 cm), and both styles are fine in terms of length. Another Sézane pant that I purchased last summer was the Ross Pant in ecru. It definitely flew under the radar but I LOVE them. They are a great year round pant, opaque, elastic waist and on the casual side but can be dressed up. They are more a tapered leg style but sooo comfortable. I get compliments every time I wear them. I very much hope they come out in more styles in future drops. Great review video! Thanks again

Oh really? I’m shorter than you, 1.66cm and I didn’t need alteration at all for mine, my legs are probably longer than yours or perhaps you have a longer torso than legs? I did mention in all my Matthew videos that the pants are not good for petites, but seems good for 5’5” and up. Perhaps you sized up for yours and that’s why you needed to get it hemmed? I’m on my 3rd pair (size S) and they all fit without the need to hem, I’m surprised you had to get yours fixed

I also got the dan trousers in navy i recently hemed they because they were super long i am 1,66 cm also and since then i am wearing them on repeat. I got 36 eu size and i had a little gap at the waist but if i wear a knit tucked in its fine and realy comfy. I also got last winter the wool florentino pants and they fit perfect and they are really warm

Thank you Mila! I love Damon too, I don't really mind the lining in the gray wool, and the black ones are just perfection! Most other Sezàne pants I would need to get hemmed, since I'm very petite. The sizing can be all over the place! I am trying to remember to order in two sizes just in case.

Thank you for this video (and also all the previous ones). In fact I have tried some of Sézane's trousers after having seen how nice they fit you. One pair that was not mentioned but seems to work quite nice for larger hips compared to waist are the Marino trousers. I recently ordered them in size 38 and have somehow taken a liking for them. However, they are quite long and need to be shortened . (As a reference: The chuck trousers fit perfectly in 38, the martin trousers are also best for me in 38 and still ok in 36. )
Ohhh Marino trousers are gorgeous! The buttons around the hips have always intimidated me though 😂 I feel it would bring too much attention to the area. I have seen them in person and honestly, it’s one of the most beautiful pair of pants I’ve ever seen! They look super dressy though, so I am not sure if I’d wear a lot. I never tried Gustavo, they have a lower waist compared to these I reviewed. I’d love to try them but the material didn’t get me very excited. They look nice though, I’ll definitely share if I get to try them! If you do, please let me know ☺️
Oh I just have ordered the Martin cropped and I think I have to get the Matthew as well- they looks so comfortable. I was thinking of their brut sexy, but honestly I am just 4 months after c section and find my jeans (Levi’s and Everlane) a bit uncomfortable and wearing my work pants for walking with my little one 😂- maybe my Gustavo (Camel with wool) is a bit too formal.
I know, right? They’re so comfy! I wish Sézane would make them available in petite too (all their pants actually!) Even for me they’re a bit too long and I’m 5’5” - Loulou is not as long actually, but for petites, I believe you’d have to roll the waist or get them hemmed. Someone mentioned here that they took Matthew to a tailor and they hemmed for her - it looked a little bulky as they originally have no stitching, but apparently it’s possible!

Ohh were you able to? There’s no stitching at the bottom (it’s laser cut). My friend and I went to the Sezane store last year and she purchased Matthew hoping that Sézane would hem them for her (they actually offer that service). They didn’t accept the pants saying that nothing could be done. Also, my mom is a seamstress and I asked her if I could do mine, she said the same :( glad you able to do on yours! How did it turn out? Do you like the result?
Sounds to me like the excuse was "we can't shorten them in the same method they were originally cut", but there shouldn't be a problem with just rolling the hem up after cutting..

@@milainnewyork when you look at them it looks as you say a bit bulky but when you wear them it is not an issue. To me it was worthy because of the comfort. I work from home so comfort is the most important thing. I am waiting for the loulou in knit to try and see if I also keep those.

When I bought them I ordered size 36 just like the Damon. In fact I’ve been liking Betty a little more oversized lately, I feel it drapes better and allows me to wear something underneath if I need to. Which Sezane trousers did you find the tightest on the hips and loosest on the waist? I ask because I have the opposite problem, my hips are very narrow, so my waist is proportionately wider. Maybe Damon could be too loose around the hips for you, but I believe the others should be just fine. They’re not quite cut for small waist and wider hips, it’s the fact they have elastane and are high waisted that makes things better for me. If you find out the best size for your waist, the hips might be a little loose but I don’t think that’s a problem (especially if it’s a flowy fabric like Loulou or Theophile). I think Emilio, Martin and even their jeans would be great options for you!

I mentioned in the video that they’re not possible to be altered but someone just commented saying that she took them to a tailor and they did it. The problem is that it turned out as imagined, a little bulky at the hem (they don’t have stitching originally). She was ok with it since she wears at home, but I would particularly prefer them without the bulkiness/stitching. Sézane refused to bem/alter them, just FYI! Loulou trousers are more petite friendly 🤗

The regular Loulou trousers are super long, I had to hem them and I’m 5’5”, definitely not petite friendly! The knit version is not as long but you’d likely need to hem or roll the waist if you’re shorter than 5’4”
I ordered my first Gaspard and it's obvious that the quality is top tier. Its so so comfortable, it's soft and fluffy and warming yet not heavy. The buttons and the button holes are beautiful, and the colour gorgeous. But it looks awful on me. I don't understand it. It looks like a straight up sack on me. So so disappointed
I’m sorry you feel this way about Gaspard! It’s probably how you styled it? It looks like a sack on me too until I french tuck or tuck in completely. It depends on your proportions though, this might not be the same for you, but pulling up the sleeves/unbuttoning a couple of buttons may help. Also the bottoms you’re wearing play a big role here, what did you try with Gaspard, jeans, pants , skirt? Would love to share some ideas so you can love it on you! It’s a great knit and I think if we style it right, it’s a wonderful and super versatile piece to have ❤️
Someone just mentioned that they were able to get them tailored! The hem doesn’t have any stitching so by having them altered, the tailor would have to roll the hem and sew it as a regular pair of pants. I think it’s worth checking that out! They’re pricey though so not sure if it would add up too much 🫣

The ones available are wonderful, but I think the ecru and the rosewood, for example, might show bumps more easily. @milainnewyork Calvin Klein professional pants usually fit me well. That is the main brand I get those. Also, as crazy as it sounds, Target sometimes has good ones (I mean, the ones with hidden elastic in the waist. Another plus is that I never have to alter them). I do have to say though, hardly they are made of natural fabric.

I have the Matthew pants and Damon trousers and love them. I am also curvy and 5’5” (165 cm), and both styles are fine in terms of length. Another Sézane pant that I purchased last summer was the Ross Pant in ecru. It definitely flew under the radar but I LOVE them. They are a great year round pant, opaque, elastic waist and on the casual side but can be dressed up. They are more a tapered leg style but sooo comfortable. I get compliments every time I wear them. I very much hope they come out in more styles in future drops. Great review video! Thanks again

Hi Mila, I bought the Matthew pants. I am 1.68 m and I brought them to alterations, since 8 cm needed to be cut of. No problems at all doing that. Looks perfectly fine. Maybe you can mention this in one of your next videos, since the pants are too long for a lot of ladies. Petra
Oh really? I’m shorter than you, 1.66cm and I didn’t need alteration at all for mine, my legs are probably longer than yours or perhaps you have a longer torso than legs?
I did mention in all my Matthew videos that the pants are not good for petites, but seems good for 5’5” and up. Perhaps you sized up for yours and that’s why you needed to get it hemmed? I’m on my 3rd pair (size S) and they all fit without the need to hem, I’m surprised you had to get yours fixed

Lovely video!! I have 3 pairs of the clara pants and i love them. I also got the dan trousers in navy i recently hemed they because they were super long i am 1,66 cm also and since then i am wearing them on repeat. I got 36 eu size and i had a little gap at the waist but if i wear a knit tucked in its fine and realy comfy. I also got last winter the wool florentino pants and they fit perfect and they are really warm
I always wanted to try Clara, maybe I should order a pair to try!! We’re same height ☺️ Dan is great but it was super long on me too, I ended up not keeping it but I remember loving how it fit! Thank you Mila! I love Damon too, I don't really mind the lining in the gray wool, and the black ones are just perfection! Most other Sezàne pants I would need to get hemmed, since I'm very petite. The sizing can be all over the place! I am trying to remember to order in two sizes just in case.

Thank you for this video (and also all the previous ones). In fact I have tried some of Sézane's trousers after having seen how nice they fit you. One pair that was not mentioned but seems to work quite nice for larger hips compared to waist are the Marino trousers. I recently ordered them in size 38 and have somehow taken a liking for them. However, they are quite long and need to be shortened . (As a reference: The chuck trousers fit perfectly in 38, the martin trousers are also best for me in 38 and still ok in 36. )
Ohhh Marino trousers are gorgeous! The buttons around the hips have always intimidated me though 😂 I feel it would bring too much attention to the area. I have seen them in person and honestly, it’s one of the most beautiful pair of pants I’ve ever seen! They look super dressy though, so I am not sure if I’d wear a lot. I would love to try them one day, thank you so much for the idea and for the size reference. Super helpful ☺️

I never tried Gustavo, they have a lower waist compared to these I reviewed. I’d love to try them but the material didn’t get me very excited. They look nice though, I’ll definitely share if I get to try them! If you do, please let me know ☺️
Oh I just have ordered the Martin cropped and I think I have to get the Matthew as well- they looks so comfortable. I was thinking of their brut sexy, but honestly I am just 4 months after c section and find my jeans (Levi’s and Everlane) a bit uncomfortable and wearing my work pants for walking with my little one 😂- maybe my Gustavo (Camel with wool) is a bit too formal.

I love knit trousers like the Matthew, but the length would be a problem, I’m a bit shorter.
I know, right? They’re so comfy! I wish Sézane would make them available in petite too (all their pants actually!) Even for me they’re a bit too long and I’m 5’5” - Loulou is not as long actually, but for petites, I believe you’d have to roll the waist or get them hemmed. Someone mentioned here that they took Matthew to a tailor and they hemmed for her - it looked a little bulky as they originally have no stitching, but apparently it’s possible!

Hi Mila, can you expand on why the Mathew cannot be hemmed? I did it because I am petite and do not notice anything unusual.
Ohh were you able to? There’s no stitching at the bottom (it’s laser cut). My friend and I went to the Sezane store last year and she purchased Matthew hoping that Sézane would hem them for her (they actually offer that service). They didn’t accept the pants saying that nothing could be done. Also, my mom is a seamstress and I asked her if I could do mine, she said the same :( glad you able to do on yours! How did it turn out? Do you like the result?
Sounds to me like the excuse was "we can't shorten them in the same method they were originally cut", but there shouldn't be a problem with just rolling the hem up after cutting..

@@milainnewyork when you look at them it looks as you say a bit bulky but when you wear them it is not an issue. To me it was worthy because of the comfort. I work from home so comfort is the most important thing. I am waiting for the loulou in knit to try and see if I also keep those.

They are pricey here though ($200 here with taxes), I would personally not keep them just to wear at home if they didn’t fit me as is. One of the things I love about Matthew is that it’s so versatile, I have worn mine over 30 times for sure 🙊 my favorite pair of pants!!

So sad Emilio was not the best fit for you. I thought we have similiar figures and it might be perfect on you. Do you think 36 would be too small? When I bought them I ordered size 36 just like the Damon. However they fit better without any gap at the back while Damon has more visible little gap and I find sometimes I need a belt to hold them in place:) I am afraid size down in Damon would be too tight around my hips.

Because the bottom has this black “line”, I felt it would look too cropped, so I sized up. In fact I’ve been liking Betty a little more oversized lately, I feel it drapes better and allows me to wear something underneath if I need to. I’d say it’s true to size (not like the navy), but I preferred to size up this time!

She’s amazing! Anything she wears looks fantastic 😍 I had the same pants but didn’t wear enough so I ended up selling. They’re nice but I never felt the suited me perfectly. That’s ok though, there are other styles that work better for our body type ♥️ clothes are supposed to fit us, not the other way around. Do you have a favorite pair?

Which Sezane trousers did you find the tightest on the hips and loosest on the waist? I ask because I have the opposite problem, my hips are very narrow, so my waist is proportionately wider. I think all these pants would suit you in terms of waist/hips. Maybe Damon could be too loose around the hips for you, but I believe the others should be just fine. They’re not quite cut for small waist and wider hips, it’s the fact they have elastane and are high waisted that makes things better for me. If you find out the best size for your waist, the hips might be a little loose but I don’t think that’s a problem (especially if it’s a flowy fabric like Loulou or Theophile). I think Emilio, Martin and even their jeans would be great options for you!

I mentioned in the video that they’re not possible to be altered but someone just commented saying that she took them to a tailor and they did it. The problem is that it turned out as imagined, a little bulky at the hem (they don’t have stitching originally). She was ok with it since she wears at home, but I would particularly prefer them without the bulkiness/stitching. Sézane refused to bem/alter them, just FYI! Loulou trousers are more petite friendly 🤗

The regular Loulou trousers are super long, I had to hem them and I’m 5’5”,
definitely not petite friendly! The knit version is not as long but you’d likely need to hem or roll the waist if you’re shorter than 5’4”

I ordered my first Gaspard and it's obvious that the quality is top tier. Its so so comfortable, it's soft and fluffy and warming yet not heavy. The buttons and the button holes are beautiful, and the colour gorgeous. But it looks awful on me. I don't understand it. It looks like a straight up sack on me. So so disappointed
I’m sorry you feel this way about Gaspard! It’s probably how you styled it? It looks like a sack on me too until I french tuck or tuck in completely. It depends on your proportions though, this might not be the same for you, but pulling up the sleeves/unbuttoning a couple of buttons may help. Also the bottoms you’re wearing play a big role here, what did you try with Gaspard, jeans, pants , skirt? Would love to share some ideas so you can love it on you! It’s a great knit and I think if we style it right, it’s a wonderful and super versatile piece to have ❤️

Someone just mentioned that they were able to get them tailored! The hem doesn’t have any stitching so by having them altered, the tailor would have to roll the hem and sew it as a regular pair of pants. I think it’s worth checking that out! They’re pricey though so not sure if it would add up too much 🫣
