As a hand-knitter I just cannot fathom the fibre-blend on the Gaspard or any of Sezane's mohair or alpaca blended sweaters. They claim you need all that polyamide to retain its shape, to add "softness," or durability. However, for the consumer the way better solution is... skipping the polyamide and upping the merino. Merino is naturally soft and crimpy (e.g., naturally elastic) - providing all the softness and elasticity the other fibres will ever need. As for durability - c'mon, a cardigan is not a sock - if it needs 30% nylon to be durable then I'm wondering what quality of wool is being used? I'm also sceptical in terms of care - every different fibre has the potential to wear differently, wash differently, hold dye differently, so I"m always wondering what the blend is going to do for me. e.g., Will it just make me unnecessarily sweaty? OR Will it offer more warmth for less weight? Will it be more colour-fast or hold its shape better? e.g., some wool cotton blends might offer those advantages. Tldr: in my experience there's very little value in synthetic blends for the consumer.
Fellow knitter here, I totally agree. When I see people online giving their advice on the itchy Sezane knitwear to avoid and how tolerable they are, I’m like, don’t tolerate a piece that you paid so much for! Just skip it already
@@AudreyZhu I bet you were as shocked as I was the first time you read the fibre composition. Like omg, I can't imagine any hand-knitting wool mill having the nerve to try spinning up such a nylon-heavy blend - not even for sock yarn. And then imagine spending a month of your hard-earned free time knitting a sweater out of it - that ends up being less breathable than it should be and itchy to boot? Agree x10000000 "just skip it already!"
This is so true. I have some amazing merino wool cardigans and sweaters that have lasted me for close to a decade now and still look great. The same is true for merino/alpaca blends. My favourite 70% merino / 30% alpaca sweater is freuently worn and almost 8 years old. I very much doubt that Sezane's poly blend can beat that in terms of durability.
I'm thinking maybe the thing is the synthetic blends can be washed in a machine on a delicate/wool cycle, rather than handwash? Either way, totally agree. I only buy their merino wool or cotton sweaters. And I always prefer alpaca, merino, and other natural wool/hair fibres.
Ho comprato una gonna tabatha in viscosa ed era carina...ho acquistato la stessa gonna con differente pattern ma in seta...un altro mondo! Molto più bella. Solo 5€ differenza@@pixi78
I agree. The archives, like any other sale is not a gift to customers, it’s a way to clear stock that was overpriced or did not appeal to many people because of the design. I will take a look and only purchase the rare item I see that I like but refused to buy at regular price.
Hah, yes about the Archives. I've only purchased 3 things total in 3 years and they were very carefully selected. I must say the made in Italy, 100% lace cotton cardi I snared last year is just impeccable. It has beautifully sewn button bands and... gasp... *glass* buttons -properly installed with a shank and real button thread. However, in those same 3 years so many things have been a bit "why did that have to be made?" or "even on sale I wouldn't take it," so yeah, more the exception to find something worth buying.
Exactly!!! They used to do it only once a year and I swear I’ve already heard about it twice this year? They have produced way too much and end up with overstock 😅
@@oceanesdiary Agree with the over production. I was a bit shocked by how much is still available in the Last Chance section - for all seasons. And so much of it is samey-samey. If the denim sack dress didn't sell, why produce it in a garish purple print? I've also noticed the collab pieces and Editions are pretty hit and miss. I think they'd do better to consider their customers' lifestyles and whether it's really necessary to produce so many pleated polyester maxi dresses, sequinned minis and items with zero bust support etc etc.
I own Gaspard cardigan in red and do not regret the purchase, it’s stunning. However, I was CRAVING Justine basket bag so SO much! I was hunting it down on resale and eventually gave in and bought it new off the website a month ago and I LOVE IT!! It’s amazing!!! I wear it every single day since I received it, completely forgetting all other 30 high end bags I own. Definitely was the best purchase of the year (mine is with gold handles). Definitely recommend. I could not be happier.
I'm really glad you're publishing these videos because I have been really feeling like Sezane is going the wrong way with the brand reputation it has built off its previous offerings. I couldn't agree with you more regarding the raffia bag and Pippa dress totally not being worth it! I tried on the dress in the store and it honestly felt like such cheap material that was so susceptible to finger marks in the fabric and wrinkles but the color was beautiful; it still was not enough to justify the price and lack of quality. Also, the Archives are just insulting to any fan of the brand. The items are awful, the prices remain high, and the hassle to get anything is not worth it.
I can honestly say that my most regretted Sezane purchases have been my own fault, rather than Sezane's! My biggest mistakes have been keeping archive items because they were a 'bargain' or they took me ages to hunt down (as seems common 😂) or because I kept pieces that don't suit me or my lifestyle but I succumbed to the hype, or the beautiful marketing or because they looked great on someone else. I've sold most of those items now, and hopefully I'll be wiser about future purchases. I'm still obsessed with all my cotton, linen, silk or gorgeous lace and embroidered shirts though. I'd fight anyone who tried to take those away from me!
I love Sezane and after about two years of trying a lot of their items, I figured what works for me and what doesn't. Agree with most of your selections, but not necessarily because of price...but more fabrication. I now ALWAYS check the composition and only buy natural fibers. I also don't buy from archives and TRY not to get swept up in every new release. Overall, I love their styling and feel super happy when I am wearing Sezane (prob 50% of my wardrobe). Thanks for the thoughtful video!
I LOVED this insider look into Sezane. Im a fairly recent purchaser and became quickly obsessed with the brand until I started having the same questions as you, and curiously about many of the same items! Yes please to a video about the items you loved-we might all agree with these as well:)
I agree on everything except the Will jacket. I have it in two colours and would sometimes like to have more 😅 their secret are the large, deep pockets. You don’t have these on most similar models from other brands. They fit so much that I don’t need to any type of handbag, which is very useful during walks, festivals etc!
I love their style and I think the website and the photos are artistic and nice to look at. But their photos are often filtered to give you that vintage and warm feeling, and I don’t have the body type of the models. So often times they’re selling a lifestyle/vibe rather than clothing. I’ve known this brand for 5 years now and have still only bought a belt and a pleated skirt 😂
I’ve been a Sézane fan for a long time (looked it up and did my first order 7.5 years ago!!), I have definitely seen a change in them as they’ve become more popular as you and others have pointed out. Regarding their archives, they used to be much better: better pieces, more reasonable discounts (20% off isn’t really interesting unless you were going to buy it anyway) and especially not as stressful! I have still snagged several great pieces at the archives however, and my recommendation is to search for specific pieces if you have any in mind, don’t buy something as a substitute for something else, just because you couldn’t get it in time, those are the pieces you typically regret and might be more difficult to resell. Though I will say they did impress me much in the early years by spontaneously sending me a book as a birthday gift! Not as an extra gift in an order, but as its own package! I’m not an influencer or sharing my clothes online or anything so it was just a very thoughtful thing to do I found!
I think its a matter of preferences, lifestyle, bodyshape... I own a Pippa dress and a Will jacket and they are gold for me. I would absolutely repurchase them. I like to wear more in a casual style in a daily basis and its not easy to find high quality flattering casual basics and those totally are. Before I found Sezane I was looking for a jacket like Will and I tried like dozens of this style of jackets and all of them were bad quality or unflattering, so when I tried Will I found a huge difference! For me its a good investment to buy Sezane casual items!
I can only say something about the items I own. my Conrad t-shirt in pink fits perfectly. In other colours it was either too small or too big. and I love Will. This jacket is so versatile and practical and I get compliments on it. So maybe it's the styling or the overall look. I also liked Gaspard. But somehow I hardly ever wear it. I returned Barry because it fuzzed terribly and also seemed thinner than Gaspard. But I love Othello. Very little pilling. Long-lasting and soft. Your videos are great! I like you and you seem authentic. 😊💕
I love my cotton wills because they have a casual edge. Also huuuge pockets. But that’s a style preference. Two I bought second hand. What bothers me is that people recognise them, and as a normie sometimes it’s awkward. Also they wrinkle easily. I was quite negative in my last comment, so I have to shoutout to Sezane because I bought my round raffia bag 2+ years ago (it’s called June), and it’s amazing quality. It’s been through several holidays, overpacked with water bottles and cameras, and it still looks brand new. I used to go though one raffia bag per summer, and already having it the third year is amazing. I don’t really get the viral version, because it looks like a pickpocket’s dream.
Agree on all points. Bought the Gaspard, returned it. Bought a ring, returned it (felt SO cheap). More brands are creating dresses similar to Pippa. I've heard by many (including shoe cobblers) that their shoes are not well constructed. Don't like the confusing look of the Justine with both hand handle and shoulder handle. Sandy belt looks like a costume belt. I do like the Will jacket though. Someone told me not to think of it as a "jacket" but more of a cardigan/second layer. Pockets are giant and the sewing & fabric weight was high quality. I don't like to wear blue denim on blue denim so having a denim jacket in a different colour (khaki) is nice!
Well-said! Discernment! I think that is a part of your message: don't fall for the hype, think about what suits your body, lifestyle, pocketbook, know your weaknesses and avoid marketing traps. For example, you may want to "invest" in a tee dress because it suits your body and lifestyle or you may not!!
Hi Katie, So far I love Sezane. Unfortunately I only discovered the brand this year, but I’ve bought more than 20 pieces already. So far only the classics and mostly natural materials. I really love the Betty, Leontine, Mina linen t-shirts and Paula babies. I also own the brown suede Will jacket and recommend it!! You won’t regret. I did size down 1 size. I’m a medium size usually, but the small was better for me. The length on those 2 sizes was exactly the same, there is only a difference in width. And only one inch. I hope that’s helpful. I would be disappointed if you stop doing Sezane videos. Greetings from the Netherlands.
I like the pacing of your videos. Please keep the photos on the screen longer. Sometimes it is difficult to understand which pieces you are discussing.
I love their capucine cardigans. I'd love to see more colours of this one. I'm wearing it in black today 😊 And the Gaspard, well it became my go to for Fall/Winter. So easy to wear and to pair with any type of outfit. I have it in many colours 😄 I didn't want to buy it second hand because I think that it is quite fragile and need hyper care when you wash it. The pieces I saw on Vinted were completely ruined 😅
I feel this way about all things Sezane on vinted. 😅 People surprisingly care very badly for expensive items like these. I now only buy from vinted if the item has the tags attached and I have tried it on from Sezane before. Otherwise the risk is just not worth it.
Love the Capucine, I love their cotton knits in general. Oh yeah, I definitely make sure to buy only new with tags or very lightly used items on Vinted for this reason
I got on the band wagon for about 1 month and never again. I bought the Betty - an absolute pain to wash/reshape, and the Leontine - felt like I was wearing plastic although it's cotton?! Both highly recommended on youtube, yeah no.
I have recommended both so - sorry! 😅 I do genuinely love both of them though. Yes, Betty is not the easiest to wash and reshape I’ll agree with you there. I love the texture of the Leontine personally, sometimes I find fluffy knitwear, even the softest non itchy ones, just a bit…much? Especially in the spring. I know other people don’t like the Leontine texture though, textures a funny one - it’s very personal!
I agree, the Leontine does feel a bit weird for cotton. Mine has softened up a bit after multipe washes and using fabric aoftener but have also heard you can soak it in hair conditioner to soften the fibres a bit
@@katie_louise I also love the look of both and I agree with you about texture. I like rough cotton bed sheets vs the softer ones, go figure! I also can't wear slinky fabrics like rayon, poly and even silk.
I have never shopped at Sézane before, largely because we don't have it where I live, but one look at their website and I can tell it is precisely my vibe in terms of designs, colours, fabrics etc. So I'm glad I found your video before making that first purchase 😊 I found a secondhand Clyde trench that I'm mulling over though....thoughts anybody?
When you mentioned you wish you kept the Renato jacket it made me think- it would be super interesting if you did a video of sezane products you decluttered & why!
I wouldn’t buy any knits made of mohair due to my asthma condition, therefore I opt for cotton and merino wool knits. I am just allergic to falling dust and fibres easily, nothing falls as easily as mohair, so almost 90% of Sézane’s pretty knits I can’t purchase😂I do find their shoes have insufficient padding, but the leather is nice. The handbags have impractical sizes with unreasonable prices as well as the jewellery, sunglasses and belts so I have never purchased any but certainly have tried on. However, l love their silk/ cotton shirts and blouses, beautifully designed and well made. Yes ,when price is so high, why buying something so plain and common that seems could be from a million of other budget shops. I only purchase pieces that are unique and special.😊I must say Katie always looks cute in everything
I like mine too. They fit me well, and I will wear them tucked in with skirts or tied at the waist over dresses. Plus, it’s nice that they will custom embroider it for you if you want. I will definitely keep buying them.
Their Nathalia cardigan! It looks amazing on the website but IRL I’ve never seen a knitted piece fit so poorly! In fact, I found most of their knitwear had real fit issues and felt poorly thought out, which is a shame because the intricate lacework they have on some pieces is unique.
Am I the only one who still loves their clothes? I am really picky and I am very thoughful with my purchases but I think Sezane is a brand, that have more top pieces than Flops. I can find No Gos in every collection from every brand 😅. Dont get me startet at Arket/other stories/H&M clothing...😂
😂 I love the Gaspard cardigan. It’s a must-have for me, but I do feel like my first ones I bought have better quality - especially for the Barry! They’re so warm anyway, and so versatile. What I don’t like about merino wool is that you have to handwash it.
In the wool/fine cycle, cold, with wool/silk detergent you can also wash merino in the washer. I do it all the time and since you are not handling the delicate fibers, it is even better for them than hand wash and wringing them out or such horrors. ;) The Gaspard is an itchy, thin hell for sensitive people.
@@isabelw.5666really? I’ve been so hesitant because I’ve seen a lot of shrinking with merino wool! And it’s not even washing that bothers me, so much as the squeezing part. 100% not for me 😂
@@thelidiaedit I wash all of it together in delicate. 😅 The key point is the combination of cold water (not even 20°) and the fine/wool cycle. I once shrunk a Gaspard by putting it in a 30° wool cycle. 😅 And my first silk dresses/viscose skirts from Sezane suffered at 30° as well. Everything except cotton/linen now gets the cold treatment. 😅 But I live in northern Europe and have realized that washing machines work very differently across continents. 😬 So maybe don't risk it.
Just FYI, the Conrad t-shirt´s cut is not the same as the logo's one. On a more personal note, I found two of my favorite pieces on the Archives section and still love them.
I agree with most Of what you said. In the end what everyone likes depends on their lifestyle, body shape and personal style. I do like Sezane still, but French aesthetic (minimal classic) is not so much my vibe. I’m more in the glam femme direction. But there are items I like from Sezane and Pippa dress is actually one of them. It looks really nice on a tall curvy girl like myself. I have several clone dresses of Pippa but none look as good nor wash as well. I have long Pippa in dark purple and wear it at least once a week in spring and summer
I really ❤ my denim WILL jacket! I wear it a lot and i get many compliments.the quality is very good. I have the Black pippae dress and its such a good quality(thick cotton).its very comfortable and you can dress it up or down. The Conrad t-shirt fits terrible on me!!!
I returned the Gaspard. I purchased one Barry, and I think that's enough for me. I completely agree with you about the Will jacket! I like it in theory. I've considered it a dozen times, but I know it would look bad on my shape. It would be shapeless and bit boring on me. I love coats, and I like them to be a bit more statement! The suede is beautiful, but I know it isn't practical.
Katie Louise, this really made me giggle. I agree with all your comments on the items you mention :) I have quite a few Sezane clothes as well as a few Gaspard's but honestly I have cashmere I can machine wash and it always looks beautiful. I find I have to be super careful with washing any of their knitwear and the Gaspard's do bobble) and no-one seems to mention what happens to their knitwear when washed... Also, why are all their trousers high-waisted?!
I think the archives are reserved for special pieces you wouldn’t otherwise buy and not everyday wear. I managed to secure a beautiful wool coatigan that is really dressy and not an everyday piece but when I wear it I absolutely love it and it will stay in my wardrobe for years. I also snagged a hot pink coord this time round which is simply beautiful but I’d never buy full price. The gaspard I love but I do dislike the large boat neckline and I would get two sizes too small as they come up huge. My item is never buy is the Clyde as it is so overhyped and noticeable.
The conrad before washing was an amazing fit on me. I delicat washed and air dried and immediately the neck was crinkled like bacon. Something you would see on an old teenage boys tshirt. It broke my heart
It's actually incredibly difficult to find pieces that are made with natural fabrics and are modern cut. If you know any brands that consistently do that, please share.
I’m rebuying white Conrad every time I ruin one 😂 and I absolutely hated Uniqlo t-shirts when everyone was raving about them 3-4 years ago. I feel like Cos is the new Uniqlo among influencers…
Ooh really? I’m not sure I’ve seen many (if any) sponsored Cos videos/posts (I’m sure they do exist though). I’m not a Uniqlo fan and am sick to death of everyone raving about the sling bag and the built in bra top 😂
@@katie_louise I just keep seeing the same people who promoted Uniqlo tees as “perfect” never mentioning them any more and talking about Cos tees all the time. May not be paid promotion just general trend for basics changing
@@svetlanadreher7190 ahh I see! Always annoying when everyone seems to be pushing the same thing. I think the ones I showed are actually from Arket if that’s any better 😉
Totally agree on everything. I used to buy a lot from the Archives because I couldn't justify the higher full-priced items. But now I've realised I'm wasting my money, because 95% of the Archives are crap plus it's not even a pleasant buying experience. I also love the suede Will jacket and hope to buy the camel if it comes back in stock. But the t-shirt dresses are SO expensive which is a shame because I'm coveting the Emy and the Pippa. But I'm not spending $200AUD on a t-shirt dress!
I agree with everything except the Conrad tees. Yup, they are overpriced, but the fit is great for my body type. I only have 1 so far, but it looks brand new after many washes. I don't like heavy cotton, or an unisex fit. Re Archives, the prices this year are actually HIGHER than the original prices in some countries like Australia! Really shocking. And it's so obvious they're trying to clear this stuff yet make it seem so special, make people get up early for it. It's all crap no one wanted in the first place. Also, their weekly drops are so disappointing lately. Just terrible in general, stuff my grandma wouldn't wear. They make very few pieces, that's why they sell out in minutes. It's not because everyone wants them, it's very limited supply because they know it won't sell otherwise!
I love my will jacket but in denim color version. The cotton plain ones are meh, but the denim one does look good on me. Most of denim jackets in France are too short for me, I prefer more boxy cutting and will jacket delivers that. I have the suede one in my wishlist 😂 But yeah I agree with the others in your list!
I agree about the Justine bag. I live in Spain and you can find a lot of really cute and more unique looking basket bags for sale at a much lower price point. In fact, I found a basket bag with leather handles at a grocery store near Alicante. For €22 I have a similar good enough basket bag that’s super cute!
I think it’s down to personal preference. I went to their apartment in Le Marais & it didn’t feel like a ‘fast fashion’ shop but boutique, hence reflected to the price. I bought couple of knitwear & skirt from their Archives last year & love them (only bought for the style not the price). Agree on your opinion about their sunglasses
I must say 90% of their summer offerings seem to be primarily synthetic if not completely synthetic! Hard pass for me 🤷🏻♀️ BUT I'm a forever Betty lover, I bought my first last December and will definitely get another this year
My most expensive t-shirt is the one that looks the worst in my wardrobe, the Conrad (bought it full price when it was more expensive than now). It looks like someone was wearing it for ages and then died in it, honestly, just after two washes. Every time I look at it, I feel regret…
The hard flat sandals kill me, not just from Sezane but from many higher end retailers. I have sensitive feet, and I like to walk miles and miles in a day, and it hurts me just to look at those pretty leather sandals with no cushioning or support. I don't understand why it's so hard to make soft and supportive summer shoes that look cute. I'd love a video on cute and comfortable shoes for hot weather that are readily available in the UK, if you (or any viewers) know of any! 🦄
Though I love the look of Gaspard, I don’t own one nor planning to buy one. Besides the composition issue, I tried them on and they are too itchy for me! Instead, I bought a red cardigan in the same style from Woolovers which is 70% wool, 30% cashmere and is a bit softer and much better quality for a cheaper price (at least if you get it on sale).
I found this video by chance, while I was looking for advice on the quality of Sezane products. I would like to treat myself to a Gaspard sweater, but I have noticed various negative opinions on the quality. given the high cost, do you recommend avoiding this purchase or is it worth it?
Personally I don’t think it’s worth it, but, it’s very subjective. If you aren’t sensitive to mohair, you might think it’s worth it. It’s not bad by any means, but for me personally, there are better knits from Sézane.
I agree. I just bought Will jacket from Archive and I got denim stripe one, which felt to me more intresting, but I agree, that pline ones I also dont like. This Will jacket was only one I kept, returned all other things.
I think Sezane stuff is lovely but I haven't purchased anything except for thrifting a pair of their jeans. I use Sezane as inspiration and look for alternatives that have the vibe, but more reasonable prices. I also prefer not to buy online anyway. I've found a couple of pairs of shoes that are very close.
I agree with you in most items! Gaspard, I tried it own but returned it as it felt “too light” for the price point. Pippa dress, same story.. although it is quite comfortable I couldn’t justify the price for a plain cotton dress. As for the archives, I just order something if it’s really special and I wanted it before.
I just sold my gaspard on ebay - it was my least worn as I have two other early Sezane jumpers that I prefer (c 2016). I agree about the composition as they can be pretty itchy. I just bought the Basile and really hoping I don’t find it itchy when the winter comes as its a beautiful fluffy cosy knit on the outside. I have the June bag which I think is on its third year, and another suede bag I bought back in 2017 so am getting value out of those pieces still. I also bought a tabata skirt this year and haven’t worn it yet mainly because of the weather - I really hope things warm up as I still really love the skirt but can’t imagine wearing it outside of spring/summer and it was probably way too much for a poly skirt at £115.
Thank you. I agree with certain items on your list, but not with the Pippa 😅. I love it. I can sew and could make it myself but that wouldn’t be cheaper or anything- taking fabric, yarn, sewing pattern and labour/ time into account. Since my time is limited I choose to buy it, rather than make it or something similar myself. It’s a versatile dress that you can wear to many occasions and dress up or down. Very practical for holidays/packing and also easy to wear for moms. Justine bag - I thought exactly like you, til I bought the khaki one. I couldn’t return it because I love it so much, but wouldn’t buy the plain natural version.
Thank you for your video !!😘 I could not agree more on the archive category ! Unless it is a piece you truly love and the full price is really not in your budget (and you couldn't buy it on vinted), I think it is just a really good marketing strategy. Also, one item I wouldn't recommend is the Paula babies... I'm so sorry !! 🙈I love them too, they are everything I want in a shoe but the quality.... If you want a pair of shoes you wear sometimes, on special occasions, they are great. But if you are like me and you wear them several times a week, they will literally break after two months. The first time, I thought there was a default on the pair I received and I contacted the brand, they replaced them for free. But last week, the second pair broke exactly the same way : the heel literally broke on the street while I was walking ! The sole of the shoe was in two parts. So I finished my day, walking on the ground, almost barefoot. And this, only after a few months on wearing them... So.... They agreed to reimburse me but I will not do the same error again ! That's all for me. Thank you for your videos, they always are so helpful !! Byyyy 😘
Yep I know what you mean! I work from home so they are more of an occasional shoe for me so not too bad. Can totally imagine them falling apart with regular wear though. What a nightmare, glad you got your money back at least 😩
Lovely video katie. I’ve actually found some gems in the archives 😊 I have to agree the gaspard is not worth full price and the will jacket is quite shapeless and actually too masculine for my taste. Great video
Hi, I agree that the Justine basket bag is very expensive for a rafia bag, but in comparison with other rafia bags, like Loewe, etc... it's not expensive at all. If I would buy one, I wouldn't buy the embroidered ones or the colored ones, they're not versatile, we get tired of them quickly. The simple one, would have less cost per wear.
Very useful video. Please do the part 2! I have been considering the Will jacket for ages and was thinking the suede version would be worth the investment so I am swayed further now! Suede doesn’t age well though, maybe a good one to buy second hand..
It’s definitely higher maintenance, although I don’t mind a little bit of wear and ‘patina’ 😅 I have a different suede jacket from sézane I’ve had for almost a year and still love it, hasn’t got any marks so far!
Hello Katie I agree with most of what you say re the under-rated and over-priced pieces and the unpopular items left for sale in the Archives. Was wondering why their essential pieces dont feature in the Archives? But I still like enough their good items to keep having an eye on whats coming next. I think that their evolution could be newer quality pieces. Must admit I have liked some of their collaborations. I find all of their shoes uncomfortable so dont order them anymore. No jewellery. No knitwear with polyamide. No trousers. May try their skirts. Not quite ready to let go but questionning. Living in France I find their delivery service excellent and their customer relations also very reactive. That probably gets loyalty from me. Keep your videos coming. Love it.
Agree 100% on the Gaspard cardigan. I bought two during my pregnancy even though I was a bit sceptic about the plastic amount, but soo many influencers and youtubers were recommending it, so it had to be good, right? 🤡 I wore each color once and they were so scratchy and also made me sweat buckets. I obviously removed the tags before wearing, so I couldn't send it back anymore :(( I gave them away eventually, just a huge waste of money. :(( I also have a Will jacket and find it very underwhelming. 😪 I used to really love sezane, but with their recent steep price increase (at least in South Korea) I'm very put off to buy anything anymore ...
I agree with Pippa and Will jacket, nothing special about them. I love Gaspard now but it was a journey to accept it 😂 I found it so itchy in the beginning. I have it in red and orchid and I’ve been wearing them all the time.
I agree on the Conrad! I just bought a couple and I was unpleasantly surprised how thin they are for the price. I expected a much thicker cotton, especially seeing the good quality of the cotton on the Max shirt and a couple other cotton pieces I have. I bought a white and a navy and I ended up keeping them because I needed them but I definitely wouldn’t buy again.
I forgot to mention I DO like my Gaspard, I have only one in a green 😊and I would like one more in a very neutral color but the fact that you can wear backwards or forwards is what really makes it for me.
@@svetlanadreher7190 I guess I wouldn’t say I don’t like them, more that I was surprised at how thin they were for the price. At $40 a shirt I think I was expecting a little more substance. I get what you mean though, a thick tee might not be the best especially in very hot weather. I do wear mine but I don’t plan to buy more just because of the price point.
i bought their claude croc bag... as i checking the bag.. a button on the strap dropped out.....mind you this bag cost USD 450. It's terrible. Returned it the next day after receiving the parcel.
Oh I´m new to Sezane but I love their knitwear and am planning to buy Gaspard (have not done it yet) in navy. Just love the buttons on back look. As I live in Estonia there is no Vinted here so hard to buy it second hand. I have two raffia bags from Sezane (both bought from Archives) and I love them. Have not bought Justine one but love the design and can´t justify it as i have the same shape raffia bag from other brand. Pippa dress is another story, I would love to buy it but am waiting for a colour to blew me off. Don´t want black and don´t love any printed versiosn. Would love plain colour but something bright and really beautiful so still waiting. I´m fine with flat sandals as I don´t walk very long distances (I manily drive) and for shorter walks they are totally comfortable on my feet. Agree with t-shirts, jewellery and sunglasses, not planning to buy any from Sezane in the near future. Don´t agree with Will jacket, own two of them and totally love how versatile they are. Archives can be great, especially finding items from old collections (when I even didn´t know about Sezane) I love. I have bought many items from Archives and I love all the ones I have kept.
I agree with everything except the archives. I’ve been lucky enough to get a skirt the last two times that I didn’t want to pay full price for (viscose) and I paid half the regular retail price.
Love that! Nothing wrong with a sale as such, more their cheeky marketing around it trying to make it out to be more than it is, which is just a sale - every brand does one 😂
I bought the mini raffia basket bag in France (so cheaper and got Detax) and I love it. I got it instead of a similar Loewe bag. I love it and wear it a lot year round. I do wish I had splurged on the Loewe one though
I agree with everything you said. Except the Archives 😅 I think as long as we are selective with our archives buys and send back whatever don’t work for us, there can be good buys. But you are correct they are unwanted stocks.
Yes totally, if something on your wish-list goes into the archives it makes complete sense ☺️ just sometimes we get swept up into buying things we didn’t even want, purely because there’s a small discount
Great video. I love my khaki Will more than my suede Will 😊 It's so great for everyday and throwing in the back of the car. It's my style, very relaxed. Agree with you on the Gaspard. Ordered it because of all the hype, but it was so thin, I was very disappointed and it went straight back
😂 aaand I also think the Pippa dress is well worth it, as you know. I guess it depends on how it looks on you too. But I do agree with you about the Will jacket (I just think I can borrow my uncles’ jackets at this point), basket/raffia bags, and don’t get me started on their jewelry! So disappointing to me, such low quality! There are so many brands that do better jewelry and materials for the same price or even lower! And well…I think in general Sézane shoes are far from comfortable. Some models may be at first, but if you wear them long enough they hurt. I have so many regrets in this department. Conrad tshirt: I actually love it because it’s the only classic tee that doesn’t make me look like a giant square as it drapes better on me, but I do think the price point is too high for what it is. 🎉 this year I found 3 things at the archives! Woooh! But ahahah lol I totally agree: we’re doing them a favor by clearing out the stocks! Especially when they send us damaged goods, and dirty goods… 😅
I’ve noticed that even second hand Sezane is massively overpriced. £150 for pre-owned slingback pumps? I earn a healthy salary but I’m too Northern to pay that 😂
I was gonna say the sandals as well, or really anything besides boots (which you can put inserts in for comfort). I have a few pairs of their loafers that are kind of regret purchases as they’re not really comfortable. I also stay away from most of their trousers and long dresses because they’re just not made for petites or curves. I do have one Gaspard in the rosewood shade and I think that’s the last piece of sezane mohair blend clothing I will buy 😅
I👏 couldn't 👏 agree 👏more. tbh 80%of my Sezane purchases were impulses/influenced. Some of the items are still sitting in my wardrobe and haven't been worn! I was so hooked on their cardigans due to the on slew of influencer raving about it but now I realized how much of a pain it is to wash their wool cardigans by hand. Especially the ones with kid mohair, they shed more than cats while and after washing . Another cardigan has stitches unraveling after 3 washes and for a $200 shirt you would think that they could at least make the stripes of the pocket line up with the stripes of the shirt. I kept them because I got caught into the hype. Now that reality sinks in after wearing and washing and testing, I think most of the items just aren't worth it, especially not after the price increase too. I think the only item I truly have no regret buying was their Betty cardigan.
Hi, I was all my knits from sézane that aren’t merino wool in the washing machine, wool setting, 20 degrees water. 4 years later the ones with good quality are still intact. Not one of them has shrunk. The ones that pilled, they pilled because the quality of the wool wasn’t good enough and not even the synthetic part could do its job for it 😅
I just bought a few items from the archives, a striped long sleeve (horrible cut) and the Margherite dress? which I am on the fence about as it has a defect on the bust area. For a 100€ dress it's a bit disappointing. I'm debating between having it altered or ordering a second one to see if it's better made.
so next you need talk about good items ,good quality sezane items ,must be something good ,because every second video in last couple years was about sezane,so ya make one what you like it
I would expand upon GASPARD/BARRY to any of their kid mohair knits. So itchy! I bought a full priced Achille cardigan when it was a new style and ended up consigning it because it was so itchy and shed so badly. If we’re talking by style, I don’t understand the hype around the Betty. My granny and my mother in law have jackets like that and so to me it’s a much more mature style than I would expect to be so popular and definitely doesn’t fit into my style or for my body type. I take the archives with a grain of salt. It’s fun to take a look at what they have but it is their stock that’s a couple years old and unable to sell. I usually check out my wish list to see if anything I didn’t quite feel like paying full price for has shown up but won’t be pressured to buy a ton. I missed the Farm Rio collab and was hoping something would pop up but I think that collab sold out. This year’s archives allowed me to get a discounted James in ecru and a Helene dress in gold that had been on my wish list for a while so I was happy with that.
In fairness, I think that some of items you mentioned you had a very personal reasonate behind, e.g. they don't suit your own style and body but there is genuinely nothing wrong with them, like the Pippa dress, Conrad, some of the flat sandals. Some others, I agree are too pricey for what they are but still very good pieces, e.g. Gaspard, some of the jewellery. I will add I don't understand the whole vibe about their trenches as there are many other brands that will sell it at the same price point and they will also be waterproof, that here in UK is a must quality to have😂 And the Max shirt, what is the whole vibe about it? Or maybe it's just because it's really not in my stile 😅 As you rightly said, always check Vinted first as there are really good deals and the planet will thank us :)
Of course, I hopefully caveated that pretty clearly! It’s impossible to be unbiased when it comes to clothing, it’s too personal. I think the Conrad and Pippa are overpriced for basic cotton pieces, regardless of fit. And the leather sandals are just killer - so uncomfy 😂 so I don’t think those are really related to taste. Yeah the trenches would be better if they were waterproof I agree. Max is fine, nothing special imo. Vinted is the best! ☺️☺️
@@katie_louise oh no, you absolutely did, don't take me wrong. It's just very difficult not to be bias, for instance I'm a big fan of Pippa, for me it's worth it - while the Max same fabric in my eyes it's not worth it. But it's mainly down to personal taste. While there are certain things and fabrics definitely not worth it 😂 Anyway, enjoyed this video :)
I sold my gaspard cardigan for 50 euros, hated it bc it was so very itchy, and my skin isn't that sensitive. I can wear wool cardigans easily. So, it wasn't for me.
I’ve owned the Othello and sold it for that reason (well that and the alpaca content making it itchy). Personally, I would only buy their cotton, wool or merino wool knits from now on
Whew! I am so happy my most loved item from Sézane didn't make your list. I actually agree with almost everything you mentioned. True confession, though, I have purchased 2 pair of sunglasses. However, I do agree that they are grossly overpriced. 😢 I would like to hear more of this content if you have others.
I have the gaspard in black, and if the pippa dress came in xxsmall I would get one but they run big, I have the green will jacket, I have the sandy belt in black , love the archives but agree with you on everything else! Xo
I see where you’re coming from! I love their knitwear design but the quality of the fabric is incredibly bad. Apart from some 100% merino wool (Betty cardigan for instance) or 100% cotton pieces I returned everything and was very disappointed. I love my Will jacket and my Pippa dress, I wear them on repeat. The Justine basket is a temptation! But you can definitely find cheaper alternatives 😊
This was such a valuable comment, you are clearly very knowledgeable! Thank you for sharing ☺️
Not one particular item, but all the 200 euro POLYESTER dresses... I mean, folks, really??
Then with all the collabs, they hike up the price even more for 100% polyester- not the best
100% viscose skirts almost the same price as the 100% silk. The profit margin on some of their items must be ridiculous.
Yes to the under-rated Sezane pieces! I'm not quite ready to break up with Sezane yet 😊
I completely agree with your list but would also add all of their extremely itchy knitwear!
Oh yeah 100%! I kind of lump that in with the gaspard as they are all mostly the same composition 😖
Well that’s saved me a lot of money. I can’t stand itchy clothing so it’s a blanket no from me!
Expensive sunglasses are a scam. They´re all made in the same factories as the cheap ones. 😅
Agreed!!
Yes! I can't believe how much some people pay for sunglasses.
Pleaase please keep the items pictures on screen a little bit longer. I blink and I miss what you are talking about 😅
Haha okay sorry! Noted for next time 😊
I had to keep backing the video up to see the items b/c I'm cooking while watching😄
@@MaryCunningham-u5j haha sorry!
@@katie_louise no problem! Very well thought out and interesting video!
I agree on everything except the Will jacket. I have it in two colours and would sometimes like to have more 😅 their secret are the large, deep pockets. You don’t have these on most similar models from other brands. They fit so much that I don’t need to any type of handbag, which is very useful during walks, festivals etc!
Haha okay, that is pretty awesome!
Great video, Katie - love how your editing style evolves 👏
Thanks Victoria! It’s fun to play around with it 😊
I love their style and I think the website and the photos are artistic and nice to look at. But their photos are often filtered to give you that vintage and warm feeling, and I don’t have the body type of the models. So often times they’re selling a lifestyle/vibe rather than clothing. I’ve known this brand for 5 years now and have still only bought a belt and a pleated skirt 😂
Oh 100%! I actually want to do a video on this, all about how so many brands these days are selling a lifestyle rather than anything else.
@@katie_louise that would be interesting.
I have the same feeling with Rouje!
Yes they're selling a fantasy really. It works too (for them that is.)
@ And for those prices! Yes, they are really selling the vibe and their name.
I agree especially on the conrad it is really really thin and doesn’t wash well
looking forward to the video on underrated pieces :)
Coming soon!
Hey Katie, did you ever say how you do your hair? It's drop-dead gorgeous and shiny especially in this video!
Good idea! I'd love tips on haircare as well.
Dyson airwrap, I don’t use any fancy products just a simple shampoo/conditioner and a hair oil ☺️
What I remember badly is the Mina linen shirt. Far too shapeless and wide and super tight at the arms. What a shame, I like the design.
Exactly!! Well said
Hi Katie,
So far I love Sezane.
@@isabelw.5666 Many people don't seem to know that wool pieces can only be hand washed.
My mom bought one kislux and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.
I got on the band wagon for about 1 month and never again. I bought the Betty - an absolute pain to wash/reshape, and the Leontine - felt like I was wearing plastic although it's cotton?! Both highly recommended on youtube, yeah no.
Bree Jumper is pretty, soft and cozy. Also Sezane's knitwear that is made of 50% merino wool-50% cotton is recommended..
@@1588chrissy Good idea about the fabric softener/conditioner - too bad my Leontine has already been donated 😂
I have never shopped at Sézane before, largely because we don't have it where I live, but one look at their website and I can tell it is precisely my vibe in terms of designs, colours, fabrics etc. So I'm glad I found your video before making that first purchase 😊
I found a secondhand Clyde trench that I'm mulling over though....thoughts anybody?
I totally agree with your assessment on Sezanne! Well done!! 👍
Thanks!
I am actually quite happy with my Conrads - they feel really good.
That’s great!
I like mine too. They fit me well, and I will wear them tucked in with skirts or tied at the waist over dresses. Plus, it’s nice that they will custom embroider it for you if you want. I will definitely keep buying them.
Itchy jumpers and too-short mini dresses are the pieces I give a big swerve too.
Agreed
I do! Not everything is perfect, but their quality and style are the best out there!
100% not for me 😂
Do you machine wash your gaspards then?! I’ve always hand washed mine, in fact, I hand wash pretty much everything from Sézane just to be safe 😂
indeed! Gaspard and any other knit, but the Betty. I handwash everything from Sézane in a delicate wash at 30°.
Except merino wool and silk :)
But I live in northern Europe and have realized that washing machines work very differently across continents. 😬 So maybe don't risk it.
Just FYI, the Conrad t-shirt´s cut is not the same as the logo's one. On a more personal note, I found two of my favorite pieces on the Archives section and still love them.
Ahh my bad! Thanks for letting me know
I agree with most Of what you said.
I’m so glad you love them!! I can definitely see the appeal of the denim one, I guess it’s totally down to your personal style. ❤
I bought the Betty jacket. Thought it was excellent quality for the price. I have a Pippa dress. Also good quality.
I love the Betty, definitely one of their better items 🥰
Never got into this retailer. The offering is like Madewell in the US. It’s preppy with a boho twist. Most items are overpriced.
I sold my gaspard after a few months - way too itchy!
Lol crinkled like old bacon made me laugh but that’s so disappointing 😢
Los bolsos en *luxdups* combinan con todo. ?Muchos elogios! ?Gran pieza para agregar a tu colección!
It's actually incredibly difficult to find pieces that are made with natural fabrics and are modern cut. If you know any brands that consistently do that, please share.
My go to for exceptional knitwear is Ca Va de Soi (Montreal, Canada). Shipping in expensive though if you are not based in Canada.
@@katie_louise no worries 😄 it’s just curious how different we all are. What may work for a lot of people may not work for you and vice versa
Oh 100%! It’s really clever marketing and easy to fall for. Far better off saving up and buying the pieces you actually want, full price
I have the suede one in my wishlist 😂
But yeah I agree with the others in your list!
Totally agree! What an amazing find 😍
Hard pass for me 🤷🏻♀️ BUT I'm a forever Betty lover, I bought my first last December and will definitely get another this year
So spot on!! My thoughts on these items exactly 😄
I agree about the Conrad tee. It's not soft at all!
😢
Hello Katie
I agree with most of what you say re the under-rated and over-priced pieces and the unpopular items left for sale in the Archives.
Love it.
They don’t put their essential pieces in the archives because they don’t have any trouble selling them full price, so no need to discount them.
I agree except the Gaspard. I think I find a great skirt in the Archives ca. 3 years ago (Afida- winter) but really nothing after that time…
I agree with Pippa and Will jacket, nothing special about them.
I love Conrad 😂 perfect thickness for me for a white tee. But I don’t like thick tees, they don’t suit me
@@svetlanadreher7190 I guess I wouldn’t say I don’t like them, more that I was surprised at how thin they were for the price.
Great video, I'm sure someone will have already asked but do you mind me asking where is your lipstick from? Its the absolute perfect red!
Of course, it’s Lisa Eldridge in the shade Duchess 🥰
@@katie_louise thankyou! oh no, it looks like I need to get another Lisa Eldridge lipstick 🫣😍
Haha 😅 her lipsticks are the best 😍
The plain raffia bag is lovely but you can purchase something very similar for £30 that is the same quality.
Agreed!
Also I love your cardigan!
Thank you!
I earn a healthy salary but I’m too Northern to pay that 😂
😂😂😂
Personally I wouldn’t keep a dress that’s faulty that cost €100, send it back!
so next you need talk about good items ,good quality sezane items ,must be something good ,because every second video in last couple years was about sezane,so ya make one what you like it
Yep that will be the next video!
Or maybe it's just because it's really not in my stile 😅
As you rightly said, always check Vinted first as there are really good deals and the planet will thank us :)
While there are certain things and fabrics definitely not worth it 😂
Anyway, enjoyed this video :)
I sold my gaspard cardigan for 50 euros, hated it bc it was so very itchy, and my skin isn't that sensitive. I can wear wool cardigans easily. So, it wasn't for me.
Had exactly the same experience !
What are people's thoughts on the Emile and Othello cardigans (they also contain 30% polyamide)?
I’ve owned the Othello and sold it for that reason (well that and the alpaca content making it itchy). Personally, I would only buy their cotton, wool or merino wool knits from now on
Whew! I am so happy my most loved item from Sézane didn't make your list. I actually agree with almost everything you mentioned. True confession, though, I have purchased 2 pair of sunglasses. However, I do agree that they are grossly overpriced. 😢 I would like to hear more of this content if you have others.
Ooh I’m intrigued to know what your most loved item is now?! ☺️
@@katie_louise My best loved item is the Betty cardine.
@@cathymeyer9722 ahh great choice! I love my Betty
I have the gaspard in black, and if the pippa dress came in xxsmall I would get one but they run big, I have the green will jacket, I have the sandy belt in black , love the archives but agree with you on everything else! Xo
Subscribed!
Awh yay! Thank you, it’s great to have you here ☺️
I see where you’re coming from!
Yes I love their cotton and merino wool knits, those are definitely my favourite sézane pieces 🥰
