    Do you actually patent the standard though? Or just the technology used to implement the standard?

      A standard is not protected by a single patent. There are a lot of patents together contributing to a particular standard. All have to comply to FRAND licensing

      @@sauravsharma7796I guess my point is that SEPs aren’t patenting the standard. It’s a bunch of patents protecting the technology required to implement the standard. The problem is that standards are being written today that require licensing specific technology instead of allowing people to find novel ways to adhere to the standard. There needs to be constant scrutiny of SEPs to ensure they are actually necessary to adhere with the requirements of standards.
