    No fuss, no ranting about what he's gonna do, just slips quietly out the back door to take care of what he's gotta do. Dan Connor's the working man hero.

    Has anyone else wished over the years that they would've showed Dan beating Fisher

    • @PlanetHouston
      @PlanetHouston 4 ปีที่แล้ว +173

      Honestly, I like that they left it implied. While we would have gotten a catharsis from it, it would have taken the focus off of the main issue of abuse, and made it seem like the beatdown was more of a solution. And the show makes a point of noting that while no one it torn up that Fisher got beat up, beating him up didn't solve the problem.

    This is a perfect portrayal of how a victim of a domestic abuse feels. The “he told me a million times to leave him alone when he’s in a mood” really struck home. The blaming herself, for trying to have a honest conversation & not walking on eggshells enough. You should NOT ever have to be afraid of saying the wrong thing that will make someone lash out & hit you. You should never have to think “what could I have done differently to prevent it?” Abusers do NOT change, & it is NEVER your fault for being hit.

But I assure you, it's not like that for men. Fischer shouldn't have hit her. And hopefully Dan busted him pretty good. But don't make any mistake, you can't just run your mouth carefree, like you seem to think you should be able to.

      I still remember the day we went to Hershey Park back when I was a kid. Had an AWESOME time. My dad paid for the whole thing, but since he worked nights, he slept during the day so he couldnt go. Fast forward a couple decades and I found out the whole story. My aunt, his sister, was getting beaten by her boyfriend. He sent us all to Hershey and as soon as we left he grabbed his .44 and went over to his house. Forced him, at gunpoint, to leave the state and never contact our family again. My dads friend told us the raw story. He was the getaway driver. My dad was going to kill him and drop his body in the pigpen at our neighbors farm. He talked my dad out of it and they broke his hand, fucking Casino-style, and he left the house crying and snotting through a bloody nose and two puffy eyes. People who say violence doesnt solve anything are just ignorant. She found a good man, who makes good money, and he adopted my cousins. I love my dad. And would kill or beat anyone who done wrong to him. Or anyone in my family. Love this scene.

    I remember watching this when it aired in January 1993. This was my favorite show in those days and I never missed it (I was in 7th grade then). It quickly jumped from Dan’s hilarious reaction at obscene comic books that Darlene was writing to the shock that Jackie’s boyfriend had been physically abusing her. This was one of the most powerful episodes of the series. I love that this show never ran away from tackling real life issues and problems.

      Jonathan Shroyer I bet ya 10 bux Al could fight better than Dan. If there was a fight to the death between the two dads.. with say 1 million bucks on the line.. Al would win. He has nothing to lose and everything to gain. If he dies he dont have to see his family ever again and if he won he could have enough money to be able to ignore them for ever. Dan.. Dan although he dosent show it a lot.. he is very emotional man and would be way too worried about how his family would cope without him if he lost... to the point where he wouldnt be able to focus on the fight properly. Even though Dan outsizes Al by a fair bit he would have trouble getting inside Als head. Al is an unorthodox guy and the same would transferr over to his fighting skills.
      And in case you were wondering.. Yes i do actually have almost half a notebook filled with hypothetical fights between different TV characters. Sometimes the circumstances of the fight need to be changed in order to get certain people to participate.. E.g Having a million dollars on the line would sureley get lazy old Al into a boxing ring. Now Dan on the other hand.. his reasoning for the fight would be purely out of anger towards the insults Al throws at him and to defend his family honor from the constant taunting and insults they will most definately recieve from the Bundy family.

    • @nunyabuizness2953
      @nunyabuizness2953 9 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Now Roseanne on the other hand.. Ohh boy. She is one Tough mama and no way on hell is she gonna let Peg bundy beat her in a fight. Even if it wasnt a fight to the death - there is no way in hell Peg would be able to even hurt Roseanne. Cmon the woman is built like the freakin juggernaught and Peg is just a lazy ass skinny ass who cant even clean a kitchen let alone throw a decent punch.
      Oh and if the two familys were to fight each other in a massive tag match.. Well it would be close if it werent for the fact that the Bundy family have pro wrestler King Kong Bundy as a relative.. so that throws the Connors down just a couple of notches. Shit just checked the time i must run off 2 work. Sorry to cut this dream fight short but i will continue the story later if anyone is interested.

      Darrell Henry The only hopes Fisher has now are as follows:
      One, he has access to firearms and willing to shoot Dan on sight and make sure that shot kills him as that would be his only opportunity to do so.
      Two, He has money or can get money to vacate that city/state/metro area ASAP and move as far away, preferably the furthest coast before Dan can get to him.
      Three, he runs to his own family for assistance. This could backfire as his own family may deal with him themselves far worse than Dan would.
      This happened with my family when my uncle hit his girlfriend. My other uncles and my dad all beat his ass themselves and met up with the girl's father and brothers and told them there was no need for them to beat my uncle's ass. We take care of and deal with our own.
