    Hey Adam, that was a great first attempt at welding. I just had one potential safety issue I wanted to bring to your attention. I noticed a can of brake clean on your work bench, and I also know that degreasing any residues or oils from parent weld metals is very important before tig welding.. or any welding. But, brake clean when exposed to ultra violet light can create a chemical reaction with the by product being phosphene gas (extremely bad for you). I don't know if you used that to degrease or not, but please be careful man. Try something like acetone if youre looking to clean. Cheers dude, happy welding!

    I really want a welder and learn to do it cleanly so I could make my own custom exhaust because it's crazy how many combinations of sound you can get with diameter of pipes, muffler length and size, resonator length and size, no mufflers, no resonators, mid pipes, catless, h pipe or xpipe. So many sound possibilities

    I still vote for a 2J swap in the cream car, but if you must stick with the SR, go with the top mount, looks better, better access for working on it. plus it looks sick

    • @99AudiMan09

      RC MAN 23 they sound good, but they're just not as capable and as reliable as the 2J. Unless you're talking about an RB30, then that is a fair comparison.

    • @shammyali3895
      @shammyali3895 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly! the s13 is a better looking car than the s15 therefore it deserves the better engine😂😉

    • @RCMAN23
      @RCMAN23 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      99AudiMan09 yea and parts aren’t as easy to come by. I just love rb’s my cousin owns a shops named “ premier performance” down here in miami, and we specialize in rb’s. We just finished a rb26 swap into a 370z. And my cuz had his 958hp rb25 s14 also. Then we have a couple drag cars with rb swaps. Lol thats y i said rb, im obsessed

    • @99AudiMan09
      @99AudiMan09 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shammy Ali I mean I'm all for a pro-status s15 build with a stroked 2J. I think it's rad and look forward to it's completion. But i think Adam would get more seat time in his s13 with a stock internal 2J on stock ECU with a single turbo like Trevor has. Trevor has been using the same setup for a few years now and has had zero issues

    I think it's best to learn with stick welding(mma) and then get into mig and finally tig, that's the way I learned personally, just getting into tig welding myself just now and it's a challenge compared to the other two. Or you could start with mig, but I feel like stick(mma) is the easiest to get started, and tig is the hardest by far. And you should have a practice piece to learn on too.

    • @joshwatson4560
      @joshwatson4560 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      GTAW is by far the easiest imo.

    • @garlicbreadjenkins5780

      Hannes Remo sophomore year of high school I did stick then mig 1 year later today Jr year I still kinda suck at stick and "good" at mig can't Wait to try tig in 20 or so years!

    • @hannesnilsstrom2613
      @hannesnilsstrom2613 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      tankd0g yeah no I guess, starting out with stick definately helps with tig. I got a mig and an inverter stick with a scratch tig torch, but gonna buy a hf tig with stick aswell, and like you say I might skip mig and get rid of it tbh, mostly use stick and tig might be good to complement it.

    • @hannesnilsstrom2613

    I have been welding for 10 years and il tell you right now you are trying to run before knowing how to walk. start running flat fillets on mild steel, when you can do that then try other positions when you get them all down with mild steel (at a fraction of the cost) then step into the stainless, your wallet will thank you.

    I hate being the guy saying back pressure but for once in my life I think that's why it has a weird resonance possibly but you can always try a size down diameter straight pipe and see if that works.

    • @noxious89123

    Don't even listen to the comments about any hillbilly with a torch and coathanger can weld it's easy, I'm a 4th generation welder, I claim there's two things I cannot weld. Broken heart and crack o' dawn. However I'm learning new things all the time. Keep practicing and don't get discouraged. I never feel like any of my welds are perfect, leaves room for improvement. You welding is an art, keep up with the awesome vids.

    why not build the s15 sr and that sr so when one blows up while drifting you can swap and not have to miss drift events? Sense it seems like sr20's are great at blowing up.

    • @latsbrahh
      @latsbrahh 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      C390 because he would need to re wire the whole car to run the s15 motor. Everything electrically is different.

    • @caleb390
      @caleb390 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      latsbrahh oh I didn't know that. If he really wanted to do that way though it would still be easier than taking a week or two to rebuild one motor and Potentially losing the seat time. Or he could buy a regular sr20 and have two of the same ones so he could swap engines without messing with the wiring harness's. If he had two exact motors would the ecu be fine or would he have to re-tune each motor that goes in his car?

    A few tips is to touch the metal with the tip of the tungsten, and another is to wrap the lead around your arm 1 time to make it easier and to hold the part before the cup

    My welds were horrible when I first started to weld. With a bit of practice with my everlast welder my welds have gotten better each day.

    Funny seeing tj haters shit on him for being bad at drifting even though he's quite new to it yet they are nice to Adam for his less than favourable first time weld job. Haters are idiots.

    Holy crap Adam that was painful. Try a slight bevel on the pipe next time. Keeping your tungsten sharp, it's key. Get the puddle started and then add your filler. Keep moving at a steady pace and keep practicing. You'll get it 👍🏻

    Im no welder and i attemlted the same thing on my supercharged 5.4 ford and it worked for a while and developed a exhaust leak. Mine was on the exhaust flange right at the header so it was annoying hearing exhaust tic. Im better now but it took me a few tries.

    Regarding the resonance from the exhaust, do a google search for "helmholtz resonator exhaust". You can tune the sound by changing the volume of the resonator chamber. It's like when you blow across the top of an open bottle; if you change the amount of water in the bottle the sound changes.
