My buddy went down like 3 days after buying this. When he contacted them to order the shield attachment that was damaged they gave him a FREE helmet. They realised his address was the military base. Impressive
Honestly one of the better reviews out there! Love how you actually took it on test rides, and on different bikes non the less. Plus you talked about likes and dislikes with your honest opinion. Appreciate it man!
I bought mine like three months ago and it was finally delivered yesterday but the shell sizes are weird because the large shell I ordered is VISIBLY larger than the XL scorpion helmet I got previously and I look like a cartoonish bobblehead
This is probably one of the most honest reviews I have ever seen. Unlike any other review I have ever watched, you didn’t suck on RuRoc’s bosom or bash them because unjustly. Just a pure HONEST review of your opinion. Thank you!!
Have watched a couple of other reviews on this helmet, and you all have given it a pretty good grade. The graphics are very cool. And hey, go easy on us old guys with the CB’s on their touring bike. LOL. It pretty tough to get a enclosed helmet that doesn’t have wind noise as it finds the openings and crevices to blast thru. Thanks for another truthful and complete review.
That helmet clasp is amazing. It is built into the helmet I wear for being in a helicopter and everyday I work I wish I could put it on my full and half helmets I wear while riding. More companies need to start using that system!
I got a little confused when I got up making coffee and looking at my email and notifications on my phone and here I was thinking about Taco Tuesday and this guy uploads and I was thinking Wednesday already. 😆 John I'm 57 and have been wearing Full Face Helmets since 1980, I just don't feel comfortable in a open face helmet, maybe because I have had a few sliders on the track and it saved my head and face from damage, Just my personal choice. LOL that company policy I see a lot dealers doing that, in fact I see the sales people walking bikes out, because they don't want to bother with a helmet.
Can't beat a Shoei GT Air, they were tested and have less noise than the best modular helmets that are reputed to be the quietest due to the tighter neck roll.
Good that you stretched the review over a couple weeks, multiple bikes, Great review, thanks. Yep I'd like to see the shockwave system install/review, sure why not.
Options EVERY motorcycle helmet should have when ordering 1) Modular, full, 3/4. or turtle shell 2) inner retractable tinted visor 3) Bluetooth speakers 4) Coms 5) Emergency pull tabs 6) Double D rings or quick disconnect buckle 7) Front and rear 1080p or 4K cameras with SD card storage 8) LED strips front, side, and rear 9) Tool less pin lock clear outer visor with multiple locking positions 10) HUD heads up display 11) at least 4 sizes
@@AQS521 very serious. Not all helmets should "have" these options installed on them. Helmets should have these "options" as in all helmets should have options. Will this make all helmets more expensive? Yeah the more options you put on it the more expensive, but you can get a bare bones helmet by choosing less options. How many times have you seen a helmet that you loved the look, shape, design but it didn't have this or that?
The loudness or quietness of a helmet greatly depends on what is on the outside of the shell. The smoother the shell, the quieter it will be. Extra lines, joints, and vents along the side of the helmet will cause it to be louder.
Interesting to see so many reviews on this helmet. One thing that seemed to be in common except this review is the shotty padding that would be more on the lines of an entry level bicycle helmet.
God damn its good to have ya back bro! Been missing your videos! Seeing some more back in the shop is great too! Take care of yourself and enjoy that family, they are only young once.
Only problem I see right off the bat is no tab on the faceshield so you can lift it easy with your right hand without reaching around. Around me it is always so cold and wet fogging at stops is a problem so I want to flip it up as soon as I stop. Also I always keep it in gear at stops so my left hand stays on the clutch. Most helmets are this way though so no real surprise. Have just heard so much good about Ruroc I hoped that they addressed the industry issue of making the faceshield left hand only.
Yes, indeed. When they decided to add motorcycle helmets to their line, they really jumped in with both feet. They seem to be doing it right. I am very interested in this new 2.0 as a summer helmet & have communicated with them some. Very impressed with their willingness to communicate and answer questions. I believe they are going to be a serious player in an already crowded field. We shall see …….
@@oregonoutback7779 yes, they reply very fast before you buy it. After I bought the Ruroc Atlas 1.0 and asked them if they're serious about that poor Visor (mechanism, doesn't close completely, scratching the helmet, etc.) and the overall mediocre quality, they didn't reply anymore. They are AAA in Marketing but the helmet isn't worth the money.
@@bjrn250 ….. Thanks, this is sad, but good to know. When spending this kind of money, I want accompany that stands behind their product & will return an email or phone call. Very sad to hear. I was ready to pull the trigger on a 2.0 when they drop later today.
Oregon Outback you’re welcome. This was just my experience and there might be others. It was just like they send me tons of emails in the pre order time, very kind and on a „buddy-level“, but then they disappeared 😂 you can try 2.0, I think it’s slightly better than 1.0 and if you’re fine with a very loud budget style summer helmet, it’s ok. But I will definitely wait for 3.0 or 4.0 when they fundamentally improved the helmet overall.
Great review John! Yes, please do a review of the Shockwave, i gotsta know how it does out in the real world. I understand its not a comms unit, but is it loud enough, clear, ease of use, battery life. Or do i just get the helmet and invest in a Senna or other brand?? Thanks!! I just ordered mine, based on your review. I ride in A as well, and the LS2 I have vents for crap. Hopefully, I can tolerate this one when I get back from the sandbox in May. Thanks!

How is the padding around the ears? I wear hearing aids and glasses, and some helmets are a no go for as you can imagine. My current all day rider helmet is nice, but it is a soft rubber guard wrap around my jaw and chin... (actually, now that I think about it... it’s a HD brand “old school fighter pilot” looking”) is like something a little more rigid and comfy
I owned the Atlas Gatekeeper with a Shockwave and I really wanted to like it, but there were a lot of little issues that soured my experience with it. The paint job was awesome but had multiple spots where paint was not applied and showed the primer. The visor would not seal around the nose area and in order for it to stay down, I had to keep that screw very tight, which in turn scratched the side of the helmet when the visor was lifted. Helmet was very loud and could barely hear the awesome Shockwave system, in my opinion, the best audio for a helmet hands down. But the worst was the helmet pressed against my forehead, nose, mouth and chin, which made it nearly unbearable to wear. I honestly hope they fixed a lot of these issues with the 2.0 versions.
I actually prefer the view of the chest mount, depending on what bike you're riding. might buy one for my go pro. Helmet looks awesome, almost storm trooper like
I don't know how I feel about the magnet closure of the chin strap. That seems like it would be fine for riding, but when you get in an accident, will it keep the helmet on? My LS2 Bob has a ratcheting closure system that is quick release and is awesome. Other than that chin strap, the Atlas seems like a bad ass helmet.

the exterior design is good, face shield swap works well but not liking the turn clip coming off, cuz I will drop it into the abyss. Also digging the emergency tabs hanging out, hopefully that makes it way easier to spot for EMT.
