      I agree. After looking at a lot of layouts I find myself wanting to try this one the most. Maybe with a couch/bed that faces sideways along the passenger side instead of forwards (but I can already see some drawbacks), but the sink and cabinets on the driver's side are EXACTLY what I have been envisioning.

    • @ericenjoysearth2756
      @ericenjoysearth2756  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In a couch position sideways you will see mostly on one side where you will be parked. Frontward you will see 180 from left to right. I much more prefer this! Don’t you...?!

    Thank you for the depth and breadth of information you are providing in your series of videos. I’m watching them from western ND where my van conversion is in its infancy. I love your suggestion to give back to all the people and companies and organizations and municipalities and governmental entities that contribute to our free-dom to enjoy van life. I like the idea of helping by picking up trash and making local purchases.

    Your topic of THINK FIRST about your wants/needs is so very helpful, as well as unusual. Getting on TH-cam and seeing all the other folks out there heading down the road, can really make it challenging to "do your homework". It looks much easier and more exciting to just "jump in"--without enough processing and thought. So thanks, Eric, for encouraging us to step back and do more on the front end so that down the road we can be in a better position to enjoy all that we have done!

    Hello Eric. I came across your YT channel, and subscribed after the 1st video. Your van design is very well thought out, practical and affordable for most. I was really getting turned off to the other highly expensive van build videos here on YT. Who wants to go into debt for a campervan?! Even if living in it full-time, who wants to pay nearly as much as a house, if trying to simplify and enjoy the outdoors. Anyway, I appreciate your content and reasonableness. All I can ask is to continue to make videos about your van design/ build as if the viewer has no knowledge and is a beginner learning... most are new to all of this and it can be intimidating. If you haven't yet made videos on the electrical, solar, plumbing components (with beginners in mind), that would be extremely helpful for your subscribers. Thanks Eric!

AND I was also wondering how I would incorporate my large ARB fridge! lol Thank you!! I love your videos so if you have time to do one about the kitchen cabinet that would be great. Wow, man. This is SO well thought out, Eric! That you have twenty years experience living on wheels really shows. SO many important details! I'd thought of some, like not blocking any windows except the left rear and positioning the sink at one of the sliding doors to make it easy to refill water jugs, but I hadn't thought how easy that would make using the sink while outside! Genius. There are so many other things you went over that I would not have known 'til it was too late, then my camper van would NOT have matched what I'm dreaming up right now and I'd be so disappointed.
    So thank you ever so much for going through all the trouble of making these videos, explaining all of your experience in so many different ones. I'm going to watch them ALL over the next few days. And I've definitely been hitting that thumbsup on every one. Thanks again, Eric.

    Thank you for all the hard work Eric. I was thinking of going with a slat design, extending sideways of course, but I think this design is probably better because it gives you proper back support in the sitting position vs just a cushion leaning against the inner side of the van. Moreover, one can adjust the angle of the back, i.e. recline - this way one is not restricted to just one sitting position and in the long term I think that could prove to be very important. Looking forward to your next video about keeping the bugs out when leaving the windows cracked open a bit - as you probably already know, we have a lot of bugs in Florida! 🦟

      @@ericenjoysearth2756 Hey Eric, I have always been interested in coming up with a system to keeps the interior of the vehicle cool in the blazing sun with high ambient temperatures or brings in fresh air at night. Of course something like what the Prius with the solar panels has would be ideal, but I am wondering if you could build that into a mod with the bug screening system. I had a solar power window venting fan that I got in UK in 84 but its no longer working. A screening system for the windows along with a circuit that automatically switches on the blower unit in the car to circulate the air until the interior reaches a preset temp - preferably running of a small 12V UPS style battery that is charged during the day via solar or the car's alternator .... what do you think?

    • @ericenjoysearth2756
      @ericenjoysearth2756  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It makes sense. I have an electric fan connected to an auxiliary 12 volts battery that is solar charged. But my fan is manually operated with an on/off switch.
      Why not go further with something automated for when you are inside the van. I would put an on/off switch for when you are not inside....

    • @ericenjoysearth2756
      @ericenjoysearth2756  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have used cars smaller then those two as camping-car. Since both vehicles are great one, I would see which one got most levelled floor. You’ll probably have to slide upfront your front seats to get to bed and have a space of more then 6 ft. I don’t know those two vehicles to know if you got enough room for more then camping-car (if you can have cabinets...?)... But I’m pretty sure that you can find a way to sleep pretty well with those two!

    Hello Eric - thanks for the videos. I'm currently living in New Zealand and planning a South Island trip using a 'stealth car'. Your ideas are very good, and I look forward to more videos. I am particularly interested in how you attach the units to the inside of the car, and how you get the solar wiring into the car. My first 'stealth car' (Fanny) was in the UK 1964 where I lived then - I was perhaps ahead of the time. It was very simplistic to what you are doing now. 55 years on I still enjoy travelling. Hi Eric!
    I just began project "Copy Eric and enjoy Earth" and just bought the same Sienna.
    The available width between the wheel arches is 48". With a 44" wide bed + gaps, how do you still have space for your cabinet? And your cabinet seem to be deep enough to be able to house 5gallon jugs!
    Thank you for any input and help!
    I'm not alone in thinking that you have the best setup for a microcamper. No nonsense.

      Congratulation Alexandre for your van!
      I think the same about my design! I think my set up is the best. I love it so much! 😁
      The van’s walls are not even vertically and horizontally, so the compartment spaces vary a lot. At the floor, at the wheel house base, it is minimal. Higher, you get much more space. On those cabinets I fit easily clothes and things for two persons.
      On this video you see how much the depth of the cabinet vary and how to build them:

Question: Have you inquired about buying without back seats for a discount?. Toyota dealers I spoke to said no. I won’t need the back seats. For that reason I’m also considering mini cargo vans and adding windows to them. Thanks to you and Eric. Paul P

I was thinking that I would like the option to take out the refrigerator and put the seat back in. I hope you will do a video about the table and refrigerator holder as well! In what general area are you located these days? Thank you again!

      Hello Wendy!
      I will do a video about the table.
      The refrigerator holder is wedged with the rack where the seat goes. I will talk about it in the flooring video.
      Yes there is some way to keep the right middle seat if you do not keep the refrigerator at that spot.

      You have good questions Wendy. Keep planning your van conversion layout, you’ll finish with the perfect customized van! 👍

      Thanks!! Awesome! I went and test drove a Sienna today and love it. I just have to sell my Ford Transit 150. (Love it, but it's too tall for Los Angeles Parking Structures, including the one at work!)

      Good point Wendy!👍 I have been in interior parking with the Sienna with a Thule box and surf board. I am just and simply happy about the Sienna. Just love it!

    Really enjoyed watching the videos you’ve put out so far! I hope you’ll go into the subject of having a possibility to do Nr. 1 in private without leaving the vehicle.
    Also, perhaps you could just go over real quick about how you separate the living space from the cockpit - if you do at all?

      Thank you!
      Yes I will do a video about no1 in the Van. It’s a must!
      I don’t separate the cockpit from the living space. I put opaque panels in the windows. I will do a video about that also.
      Thank you for you video suggestions!✌️

    Great videos. I look forward to the series. It would be helpful if you could post links for the various pieces of hardware you use (sink, pump, table leg and bracket, etc...).
    Did you remove the seats and do you have access to the underfloor storage?

      Thank’s Todd!
      The link idea is a good option, but would require some search back... I’ll look...
      The back seats are made to go under the floor. I removed the 2/3 and kept the 1/3 just in case I need a third place. Like if I go down a river in canot-camping and need a lift back. Obviously you need to remove the bed for that, but may be pretty useful!

      @@ericenjoysearth2756 I have been thinking of removing one or both of the stow and go seats from my Sienna. Was it difficult? I have been unable to find any videos on removing the 3rd row seats.

      Me too, was not sure how to do it. Finally the dealer did it for free with an oil change!
