I feel you. For so many years we didn't have a QB. JF1 was a durable good QB who loved Chicago. This was our chance to build a team around a rock solid QB. Gone. Done. Back to the instability of the QB in and out the door every couple years. Look at Mac Jones. Showed flashes. Flamed out in three years. Rookies. To give up a rock solid QB for a rookie? AGGGGH!!!!

This was the perfect draft for Poles to trade back 2 or 3 times from 1 and/or 9 and he could have built the TEAM for the next decade especially with such a deep draft class. He totally messed up. Great content. Thanks for speaking the truth and not sugar coating it. Makes no sense at all. A rookie coming in forced to start from day 1 with no vet backup is a recipe for disaster. I also like Daniels better, too. Caleb Williams has way too many red flags for me.

Poles has drunk the cool aid. He's totally smitten by Caleb and thinks he is Mahomes 2.0. Maybe 2.0+. Caleb's rep is he processes quickly, throws quickly, and gets out of tight space quickly. Poles believes he will be just as elusive as FJ1 but a better passer. But... all that is far fetched for a raw rookie. Training camp and pre-season will give CW some time to show what he can do. The Bears defense will keep us in games. Best case is Caleb flounders the first three games of the regular season then starts to figure it out. By the middle of the season he's gaining confidence and his stat line is improving. By the end of the season he's winning games because he's better than the other team's QB. But to think we will make the post season with a raw rookie at QB is unlikely. Competition in our division is stiff. If so, all the draft picks lost to juice the team up for this season will be wasted. It is a huge gamble. Building around JF1 would have been safe and in my opinion the best path to the post season. Too bad. So sad.

When Poles made the Carolina trade Williams was coming off his Heisman win, Bears hoped they'd get #1 and they did. Fields 2023 season was a last chance. It's a business and Williams "potential" doesn't suffer until he stumbles as a pro. Hope he gets more help at receiver. And #9 is a Edge pick
