@@marcoasturias8520 this video is honestly really toxic. He clearly has personal issues with it and made a video complaining under the veil of "it's bad for new players", when that is completely false. And this is coming from a new player.
Honestly, as someone who hit Arc tier every season and was there usually within a week or so, the “losses mean nothing” thing don’t bother me, I’m kind of used to that already. The higher collectors box rewards is nice, and at least this set has cards worth getting. It might be just me, but I am fine with most of the changes. What I’m not fine with, is getting the “Tier Unlocked” animation every time I open the battle pass, that’s annoying.
Oh my God the tier unlocked thing is so annoying and idk if it used to happen on desktop but on mobile it's been that way since I started playing a few months ago.😊
New player here. Compared to MTG or Hearthstone, the amount of cards/decks I started with feels like a lot. And the newest battle pass for me was free! doesn't feel that bad for new players. Climbing feels fast too.
Yeah i have been collecting mats over time since live got released and finally decided to make an actual deck. With all the stuff I've been given and the pack codes my friend has been giving me. I have optimized versions of the top 5 decks and thats not even counting the old starter decks from paper ive got too. This game is a god send if you buy physical. Much more generous than any other card game i play.
Ive been playing for two seasons now and feel like his comparisons were a bit disingenuous. I figured out credit farming fairly early but did it with Palkia. He said the previous pass gave 500 and the new one 2000. So +1500 but in reality the old pass was -100 so the new one is +2100 in comparison. Which is more than enough for a palkia dexk of 3590 credits. So the new pass gives me 850 crystals and 4590 credits. Far more than the old one where i lost crystals and couldnt afford to buy a credits.
same exactlt houghs as someone coming to tcg live from mtg(a player of almost 20 years) im loving not having a cap on rewards and not having any fomo premium bullshit. i dunno how this is worse for anyone beside whales wanting to dump money for instant gratification.
Never thought I'd get into pokemon tcg, despite playing all the other online card games, but downloaded the Pocket app because friends were getting into it. It let me know the basics and itched my card game player brain just enough to look for the real game, so now I'm starting TGC Live! I'm sure I'm not the only one getting converted to Live from Pocket.
SAME!!! After playing pocket I decided I should give live a try and I am going to download it right now, this video makes it seem that it might not be a good experience but I still wanna try it out.
Looking back and seeing it actually implemented, I think this is actually in improvement. I feel more encouraged to play games now. Before, I KNEW I wasn't making the big league rankings so I just did my 1-2 daily games to go up a Battle Pass tier and do my dailies. Now I actually want to play more because Ranked is incentivised to play more as it's easier to climb, and convert Crystals into Credits via the Charizard Battle League deck. The Battle Pass change is a small L, but you're ranking so much faster it doesn't feel like it's too bad a drawback.
I keep running into the glitch on Live where I can't do anything at all and then it times out my turn. Then my opponent is free to move and I just lose, since I can't do anything at all.
I like the new battle pass because it's way faster to rank up, which makes things more fun as I get those pack rewards way more often. Beforehand it felt like a slow elo grind where the only real reward for winning was my 2 daily quests I'd basically complete accidentally in the first game of the day. I have so many crystals now that I can just convert to crafting points or whatever to get all my specific cards. The only problem I have with the new XP system, is if your opponent concedes before you can get the final kill, you get less XP, which is basically punishing you for winning.
but I only like it because I've been playing for years and have a ton of economy and preexisting cards and crafting points to work with for each new set, this update is harmful to new players
I never had a problem with the old system. It’s just the addicts trying to stay ahead of the casual players. I would clear the prize ladders with the cheep premium pass and only use the expensive premium pass to get those last 15 slots if I haven’t played in a while and wanted to get all the prizes. By that time I would have a competitive deck to go to Ultra tear, no problem.
The exp gains are 10 times as much. So, even though you might be getting less, you get everything without much of a grind. The passes also change every time, so they will change again with prismatic.
Personally, I see this update as more positive than negative. Sure, the battle pass has more tiers now. Sure, they backloaded the majority of the rewards to the later tiers. Sure, ranked mode has next to no risks anymore, thus making it Casual 2.0. But do consider.... That the battle pass is easier to get through than ever due to significantly increased experience. That the best currency in the game, crystals, is easier to get now. That the worst currency in the game, coins, will no longer exist. And that because the best currency is easier to get, it'll be easier to get Shadow Rider VMAX, which means we can get more credits than ever before. PTCGL still does have a lots of problems like not fixing game-breaking bugs or adding expanded, but this is a step in the right direction for sure. And an update that is a step in the right direction is better than 90% of the updates they've been pumping out since February of 2022.
@@BingoBongoWowIf you open duplicates of a specific card you already own, you get credits that allow you to craft what you want. The most efficient way to spend crystals in order to get credits is to buy the Calyrex VMAX Deck (1250 crystals' worth): starting from the second time you buy the deck, you'll get duplicates of the Shadow Rider V and VMAX cards (3x copies per deck, so you already get two duplicates of both the second time you buy it) which are worth a lot of credits, and also obviously duplicates of other cards - trainers, items etc.. - which are also worth quite a lot in bulk. Once you have the full set (I think you are required to buy 2/3 copies to have every single card contained as a 4x) you can just spam-buy the deck and you get 3925 credits per buy, which is just on par with the efficiency of buying a Celebrations bundle with the set already completed. I hope this all made sense
@@BingoBongoWowA Shadow Rider VMax deck costs 1250 crystals (if I remember correctly) so that's how. You buy it two times, and the third time you'll get credits for the whole deck being duplicate cards (so you have the max 4 you can have), except the pumpkaboo.
My #1 wish from live is for yang. THE GAME TO BE FUNCTIONING AND NO LONGER FREEZE, ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM WINNING AND THEN AM FORCED TO CONCEDE CAUSE FROZEN. OR IT SKIPS MY TURN CAUSE IT WAS FROZEN. I am aggravated.
I would imagine that the 7 extra crates cancels out the 15 less regular packs, we get way more crystals from the pass, save 600 from buying premium and get 30 more every day. If i was not jaded enough and think we are probably getting proper micro transactions I would say they want us to be ripping packs
9:32 On that note, I regularly got opponents 300 points above me in great league with the old system, so I wouldn't put much weight on either of our personal anecdotes about the matchmaking being worse or better. lol
I think that we had way more positive changes than negative ones: with this new Battle Pass (that is way easier to climb) and the removal of coins, now I can reach Arceus rank easily (yeah maybe too easily) and can farm way more crystals on Celebrations pack to get even more "dust" to craft cards, and I have already around 25000. But yeah, this game also needs a tournament mode asap (and trades would be fine too) and a better optimization, especially for the mobile app that literally sucks on your battery and increases the device temperature too fast.
Thank you for the update. Have been checking Live from time to time and it seems visually it didnt improve at all. With poket making so much money it seems Live will never be a priority.
This change is a MAJOR upgrade for TCG Live. I downloaded the game a couple of months ago but the ladder progression and overall progression was slow. This time around its faster progression and alot of considerable rewards that have made me play the game non-stop. Its a major upgrade and hopefully those players that were disatisfied with the app and also those that left negative reviews because of how the app was before, will return as TCGLive now has to compete with Pokemon Pocket.
I miss PTCGO, and the ability to trade cards. I took a long hiatus from it and came back not too long ago. I migrated my account and now everything is just nasty to deal with. The UI is awful compared to the old one. The ability to view my card collection ...DOESNT EXIST. Deck building is quite a battle of its own, and if you use alternate arts in your deck, you have to basically "guess" which ones you have unless you manually check every card. I could go on, but I wont. As someone who loved PTCGO and just recently got to experience the "revamped" version PTCGL... Yikes, it's... not good. They need some serious changes, how is it even possible the old game was so much better?
@@lillie_trash Yeah, but I wish it had a collection tab, where you can just see what you have directly. It would be nice to see everything laid out with some sort options as well. So you can see your alt art cards side by side with the normal ones, and get a full view of what you have. Basically a binder style menu where you can see gaps in your collection or various other ways. PTCG Pocket kind of has it already, and iirc the old PTCGO had a collection type menu.
I feel you for the collection part, I got a shiny alt art of whatever pokemon, but I have no idea what it is because I didnt pay attention to the name and they only show the regular art
The new Ranked System is a boost on my mental health..being almost to Arceus League and opening like 5 times bad, and the opponent godly, clapping me in 10 minutes, throwing me wayyy down, and making my rank up impossible without spending WAY too much time on it (sth that i dont have cause of university) made me feel good🤣🤣
Also I don't know if it's because of this update or me not understanding the credits system but when I spent all my 1250 crystals on the Shadow Rider deck to earn 0 credits (on my second time), same for Miraidon EX deck, I earn only 1000 credits instead of 3765 credits...Is there a new / better way to earn credits nowadays ?
Iirc, with shadow rider all the cards are rotated out. Assuming you started with a new account you don’t get credits until the third or fourth purchase onwards. You got 1k from Miraidon possibly because you already have some of the supporter or item cards.
@ARIEZKAGE Thank you for answering me, I've been looking for this answer since days 😭 So according to what you said, we don't earn any credits from cards that are not in the standard format correct ? Also does that mean that you earn credits from rares even if you don't have any copies yet as long as it is in Standard format ? However now I have 3 Shadow rider VMAX which mean that if I buy one more time the SR Deck I will only earn credits from the 5th copies right ? So what would you suggest to farm to get high amount of credits as new player atm ?
@@katalan5969 You do get credits for multiple copies from cards even if they are not in standard. But you only get credits back when you exceed 4 copies of a card. Alt arts are considered separate cards in this case so even if the deck has like Boss's orders you still need 4 copies of that particular card. Energy doesn't count. All the cards in Shadow Rider have been rotated out so you're starting from 0. You won't see any big gains until your 3rd to 4th purchase of the deck. Though it is weird to get absolutely 0 by your 2nd purchase of the deck. Are you sure you got the right one? The 1250 from July 2022?
@ARIEZKAGE I see! So you are saying that you earn credits from decks as long as they are still in the standard format even on your first purchase ? Which is why I earned 1k credits from Miraidon EX deck on my first purchase. So I should target decks which are still in the format and with cards that I don't have yet ? or should I focus on buying the same deck over and over to get credits from copies of the same cards ? Sorry I'm very confuse by the system atm 😂 To make my situation clear: - 1st purchase of Shadow Rider deck earn me 4150 credits (maybe I did purchase at first in another account, that's why I got 0 credit on my 2nd purchase ?) - 2nd purchase of Shadow Rider earn me 0 credits - 1st purchase of Miraidon EX earn me 1000 credits So if I purchase a second time Shadow Rider or Miraidon EX I will get much more credits ? or should invest in another deck like Mew VMAX ?
@@katalan5969 Sorry seems like you have it backwards. I think its my bad if I didn't explain properly For your situation: -First purchase of Shadow Rider gets you 0 credits because none of the cards are in standard and normally there's no way for a new account to get the cards. -Second purchase gets you somewhere around 100-500 credits because you already have 4+ copies of the lower rarity cards. -Third roughly 2k because by now about 90% of the cards here would be at 4+ copies -Fourth onwards max 4150 credits -Miraidon you got 1000 because that deck still has cards in standardso you already went over 4 copies in your collection of the lower rarity cards in that deck. There's a video on this channel that explains it better than I can though. I think its "How to earn credits".
I just wish they had not messed with the shuffle algorithm again. I had pointed out how they could improve the flawed deck shuffling and it seemed they had implemented a fix. But after the stellar crown update it seems to have reverted to the previous flawed inconsistent and non-randomized shuffle algorithm.
They just made the game grindier. Which as any developer of life service game is actually what you want. Causes grindier games means more hours spent playing said game. May not be the best for players but they'll get over it
The 9 collectors creates are better for older players in my opinion. Its so easy to level the pass up that I think new players wont have trouble getting to ending to the end.
Got into ptcgl a year ago, literally just opened the app got some free meta decks- charizard, giratina, lugia etc but didn’t seriously play (all i did was test deck) at all until this month (nov 24). The new ladder is definitely newbie friendly but im not too sure about deck selection. Do new players still get meta decks for free or are they forced to play the pikachu deck? coz that is kinda crap if thats the case
Had so many concedes today. Also its absurdly easy to get arceus league now and played for a few hours before realizing i nearly hit it. Just not a challenge anymore
I have a noob question for anyone who knows. I was playing against a Lost Zone deck using Comfrey and Cramorant, it was tunr one and i only had one mon, no bench. They went second, still turn one, put enough cards in the lost zone, then switched in Cram and KO'd my mon. Turn 1. Is that intentional?
@@TheDtzcrptr The player who goes second can attack on turn one. It’s how they balance the advantage of getting to go first. Winning the coin flip allows you to choose which advantage you want; some decks do better going second vs going first.
You said your opponent went second. If you go second on turn 1, you can attack if you have enough energy on a Pokemon. And since your opponent got enough cards in the Lost Zone, they were able to attack for free on Turn 1.
Still waiting for an actual tournament mode. The old ptcg at least had tournaments to keep us busy and somewhat simulate a sense of seriousness which was fun. They could literally just make it a paid entry with crystals and have it be the same with packs being given alongside crystals for placing at least top 3. Its baffling to me that after so long the game is still incredibly barebones.
so i just played pokemon tcg pocket and wanted to try pokemon tcg live, i played Master duel how was f2p in this game ? what is the good and the bad ? or should i just stick to tcg pocket
This dude feels like he just made a video to complain. I am a veteran TCG player but new to Pokemon TCG, coming from pocket. I got a glimpse of what it use to look like before the update and personally I feel all the changes are positive. You get way more upfront than most digital tcgs, including a very rank viable decks in the char ex deck. The ladder is easier to climb, the battle pass gives you more frequent rewards, and you get more crystals faster, which it allows you to get credits faster. All in all I feel like I'm constantly achieving things and learning and it feels great. The only issue with the app is technical optimization issues. Don't let this dude affect your decision. Try it for yourself.
I find live is still better than pocket, I came from pocket and got curious and tried live, I was surprised with the amount of rewards and beginner friendly live is plus the diversity in opponent’s deck is better than in pocket
Does anyone know why Pilot always refers to the TCGL team as “the developer”? Is there really only one dev working on the game? Is it an injoke I’m missing?
The developer refers to the team developing the game. Its not unusual to refer to them that way. They will say “the publisher” “the developer” allot when talking about people behind games.
I don't even know why you have to pay for cards. It is an ONLINE TRADING CARD GAME SIMULATOR. NOT a game that people want to be grinding their weeks to get to top tier in! People just want to test with cards they dont have. But with how hard it is to get credits, my irl deck collection is better than my online deck collection!
Live after a week: "Wow! It's going to take _forever_ to get all the decks I want to play!" Live after a year: "They literally give you the only decks that have any chance of playing the video game, and all three currencies are totally worthless." Pocket after a day: "I ran out of resources to complete the tutorial today." Pocket after a week: "I chose to focus on the Mewtwo pack first, so I can't get any Fire Types to complete the AI battles."
I started playing 2 days ago because even tho pocket is nice you dont have much incentive to play it outside of events and the battles get repetitive easily, and compared with other card games the new player experience is pretty decent, the ammount of starting decks and useful cards you get from them is really good, I was able to get 2 shadow rider decks and a half and with that I upgraded the roaring moon deck which has worked amazing so far and since I win waaaay more with it ive been lvling the battle pass pretty quickly (lvl 40 rn), Im also 1 tier away from arceus rank (I reached master ball before getting the upgraded deck and I got kinda stuck but after it I started climbing pretty smothly). So far I feel like I have good incentive to play, tho idk after I complete the battle pass and reach arceus i guess there isnt much more to play for until the next season or whatever is called aside from doing daylies
I was a little confused by Pokemon TCG Live, seeing as I just started playing it, like..........why is it so freaking hard to get customizations for your avatar? To get cards? To get anything? Especially when you don't start with much to begin with
What they did with a battle pass was was a an awful decision, the main positive and appeal of live was how free to play friendly it was. I get it that new player are still getting a lot of starters decks but many those can't really compete with current meta.
Honestly pocket is just a more premium experience even with how simple the game play and meta is currently. Online pocket tournaments are far enjoyable offering cash prizes while live tournaments only gives codes.
This new stuff they’re doing is killing the game. I used to pour hours into it every day when the new bp came out and now I don’t even see a reason to. Feels bad. It’s crazy how some watered down version of the game is what finally makes it appeal to the masses. I mean it makes sense but dang
i am a relatively new player, the deck i want to play is not one that is given for free. i cant see me getting it before the deck wont be viable anymore. i am really sad i thought i would have to grind 2 weeks to make a new deck but here i am. maybe i am doing sth wrong
@@TrustYourPilotTCG Thanks for the link. Dragapult, i tried a few decks with a friend in the tcg and liked that one. maybe i will soon have enough crytsals to buy the shadowrider or miraidon decks multiple times
Buying Shadow Rider or Miraidon will definitely be your best bet to eventually build Dragapult. Pokemon ex cost 600 Credits each, so you only need 1,800 to get 3 Dragapult.
@@TrustYourPilotTCG yes i hope it will be soon, i still think it takes way to long to get these credits. especially for a player that does not know about buying these decks. i really really like the game (except the bugs) but it could even be better :)
I'm pretty sure matchmaking is based on MMR not rank points. When I started playing the game I played for about a week and got to 400 points and was pretty much only facing people on master league and arceus league with 1000+ points
i think the new pass is better. for the old you had to pay 600 crystals so it’s more like it gives you -100 crystals. Also all the extra crystals you get on the new one more than makes up for the credits you don’t get when you can buy celebrations or vmax decks.
theyre literally two different games and pocket doesnt follow the physical tcg's rule set whereas tcgl does. its literally comparing apples to oranges as the only similarities are the IP and collecting the cards.
ya no shit. This game does not generate revenue directly, its a loss leader. The entire point of its existence is to, hopefully, sell irl packs. Its a f2p game with no monetization, the hell are you expecting?
The new pass is better for old players but worse for new ones. The cosmetic only tiers should also give credits to alleviate this. Ranked changes are weird; we’ll see what the Arceus league changes hold but I don’t hate the current system. As far as concessions go they could increase battle pass xp for winning via turn 1 concession so it’s less annoying, other than that concedes are always gonna happen when players brick turn 1. But honestly none of these matter compared to optimizing the game. It’s been 2 years and it still runs like an alpha build, draining battery like crazy and overheating any device it’s on, all with game breaking bugs to boot. It’s impossible to recommend especially now that Pocket is right there for new players.
They made the new Pikachu EX way too busted. 300 HP attack that can be just recharged with the hour glass equip plus busted trainer cards so you cant fight on against that and its auto loss for every other deck. Also the fact you cant one turn kill Pika bc of the heart ability that auto safes it and next turn your mon dies and you lose. I hate the new Battle Pass too, just only one deck at tier 33 and way less cards. The only good thing this pass is the Ur-Dialga.
If they revert credit counts I wouldn't be all too mad about it. Playing in live doesn't work as a viable way to test decks to begin with, so it's not like ladder will ever matter unless they actually fix it and make it more similar to a game like Valorant (which Pokemon will never do because this is a children's game). Ladder is effectively the same thing as casual, in fact, getting a game in casual usually takes LONGER than ladder. The problem is that newer players are getting screwed over. I have a cousin who I've been teaching how to play (since I've been playing for 8 years now it wasn't that hard) and tried to set up a couple decks for them to play around with, but there just wasn't enough credits for me to actually get the cards I needed for them. Like what am I going to do with 1K credits? Buy an ace spec and ONE ex? If they add microtransactions (something like Master Duel) I'll quit on the spot. I'd rather just buy the physical cards and test with in person events. Regionals and Internationals can become the "let me actually try" events. Just means I have to travel which I've wanted to do anyways.
Missions are getting a bit ridiculous and matchmaking is off the scale, like youre in a lower league but a great league of ninja or zard will wipe you butt. Despite that, there are little improvements over the previous one, however the thing that they want make it a bit harder.
I just started playing TCG a week before stellar crown. I never played pokemon before then including the games. (I'm just old and missed it.) I am as noob as you can get. That being said, i am not struggling. I ended up in the same place in ranked as i did before. I have a winning record, and a few different decks from using Celebrations. I don't like there is no point loss in ranked, but i guess. The battle pass is definatly worse than before for sure. As far as the bugs, i have ran into a few, but they are normal type bugs you find in modern games. I won't be playing pocket, tried it, it's a gacha game. I'll be here in PTCGL until it goes away, perhaps by then i'll probably have the cards to play IRL.
Soooo as someone whos also been on live since it first dropped, reading the comments, it seems that its gotten to a point where the new players and the seasoned players are wanting different things. We all want it to grow, but its looking like its all quite confusing for newer players. But the seasoned competitive players are just wanting it to be stable and wanting a proper rank ladder with a true elo system. Interesting predicament.
One is created by TPCi and the other by TPC in collaboration with DeNA. TPCi doesn't make any money at all from Live and is not playable in TPC regions (Asia), while Pocket has tons of microtransactions and is available mostly worldwide (not in the Netherlands and Belgium)
The rewards are backloaded because the pass is meant to be completed and feel like a reward. By climbing the ladder since the update dropped (I'm on rank 24 or so) and I managed to craft a full hydreigon deck, 4 random cheap decks and 3 sylveon for a deck that I swear that will work one day. New players will get way more crystals than before because of the level up rewards. I understand that your whole point here is to farm for negativity, but this is kind of and objectively incorrect.
Ima say this right now all POCKET players will come to live if they REALLY wanna play the game, it’s like playing duel links while MD is there, I spent so much time trying to get a charizard deck on pocket (re rolling included) for me to literally fucking load up the game and get a pre built VIABLE award deck instantly, pocket tried this and failed horribly. The game might be dead but it’s probably because of broken mechanics and the regular “insert meta deck here” and as someone who plays master duel, AND marvel snap that ain’t enough to kill the game
By the looks of it, TCG live was originally planned to have more explicit monetisation (e.g paying for coins/crystals/credits), but that never really came to anything and this change looks like it's there to reflect that, because on the whole coins are pretty useless.
@@TrustYourPilotTCGohhh ok, makes sense. Such a shame this currency could’ve been more useful. I asked because I just returned from a 1 1/2 hiatus, thanks a bunch guys!!!
I think its good for live because for the most part people actually do get more rewards. But yes they should be better early on. Also I get that you want expanded but I think its such a neglected mid game mode, I think its very niche. However its good to play old formats, so I think it should be allowed so we get to just play older formats. Or... just give us old formats instead.... You know... Freedom to pick
I hate the coin change. I have spent the entirety of my coins on avatar items. The ENTIRETY and the update completely renders all the time and effort ive done to try and complete the entire collection. What do I get back for it? Fuck all is what apparently. I can't even get the equivalent coins back to spend on deck cosmetics Can someone PLEASE tell me where to complain about this?
I don't see any reason to play PTCG pocket where the game play is so far from what the real pokemon card game use to be and I'm a new player I been playing for just 5 days there are 11 free deck I keep winning with the arcanine ex deck I have over 3k crystal now and yeah not much credit to craft card that I need specially the rares
Go to shop, July 2022 for old shop items and find the shadow rider battle deck. Keep buying them and you will farm credits for new cards quick once you start hitting the duplicates. By the 4th one you'll be pulling lots of credits per purchase. You get crystals faster now with the changes.
I'll be honest, the change in pass exp made me play a lot of Live. Constantly earning shit is satisfactory, so I think this is a success for Live!
Agree. Last season I used to plat only one match to get the daily missions and log off, since playing a match wasn't really giving out much.

The Battle Pass change is a small L, but you're ranking so much faster it doesn't feel like it's too bad a drawback.
I keep running into the glitch on Live where I can't do anything at all and then it times out my turn. Then my opponent is free to move and I just lose, since I can't do anything at all.
same
I like the new battle pass because it's way faster to rank up, which makes things more fun as I get those pack rewards way more often.
I seriously miss not having the option to try out 2 new decks at tier zero, it just gave the ladder a bit more flavour
Thank you for your detailed coverage. It is always fun to see you cover ptcgl! I feel like u want to be a good client one day !
Conceding is bad BUT, I think the new process is less discouraging than before. I love it. 🥰
Completely
Can you explain how getting more crystals will make it easier to obtain Shadow Rider VMAX, and subsequently, more credits? I'm interested :D
@essurio Oh good good, thank you
My #1 wish from live is for yang.
This is crazy I just started playing and I thought this was normal never knew there was a premium
Thank you for the update.
Have been checking Live from time to time and it seems visually it didnt improve at all.
With poket making so much money it seems Live will never be a priority.
1 step forward, 2 steps back
I think a Sphene is that teacher from Saved by the Bell
Its probably a dollar store company running or something. It baffles me how much they've downgraded the digital ptcg experience...
You can see older cards, you go to the deck builder and in the filter you can set it to all cards but its still a stupid way to see them all
@@lillie_trash Yeah, but I wish it had a collection tab, where you can just see what you have directly.
Doing theme tournaments in PTCGO was incredibly fun, we have actively gone backwards in the 10+ years
I feel you for the collection part, I got a shiny alt art of whatever pokemon, but I have no idea what it is because I didnt pay attention to the name and they only show the regular art
Hello, I just started playing live a few days ago. Do you have a video explaining the credit farming?
Just went up yesterday - th-cam.com/video/-IrGiw4mCE0/w-d-xo.html
Since I play the real TCG, I like playing Live to test decks I want to build IRL
whats the age group ppl play irl? i want to get into it but feel like im too old haha
@eduinzavala9462 it's all ages. I feel the community is great. I lose to kids and older people lol I just have fun with it
The new Ranked System is a boost on my mental health..being almost to Arceus League and opening like 5 times bad, and the opponent godly, clapping me in 10 minutes, throwing me wayyy down, and making my rank up impossible without spending WAY too much time on it (sth that i dont have cause of university) made me feel good🤣🤣
I’m a noob to live and came over after playing pocket. I just want to learn how to play TCG irl and live has helped.
It killed it for me. I made sure to have 1800 gems to get the battle pass and that most of the time ensured I got most cards for most new decks.
loved pocket so much I went to try out Live because a friend of mine plays it, and I was kinda let down by how messy everything is
Also I don't know if it's because of this update or me not understanding the credits system but when I spent all my 1250 crystals on the Shadow Rider deck to earn 0 credits (on my second time), same for Miraidon EX deck, I earn only 1000 credits instead of 3765 credits...Is there a new / better way to earn credits nowadays ?
Sorry I'm very confuse by the system atm 😂
To make my situation clear:
- 1st purchase of Shadow Rider deck earn me 4150 credits (maybe I did purchase at first in another account, that's why I got 0 credit on my 2nd purchase ?)
- 2nd purchase of Shadow Rider earn me 0 credits
- 1st purchase of Miraidon EX earn me 1000 credits
So if I purchase a second time Shadow Rider or Miraidon EX I will get much more credits ? or should invest in another deck like Mew VMAX ?
@@katalan5969 Sorry seems like you have it backwards. I think its my bad if I didn't explain properly
For your situation:
-First purchase of Shadow Rider gets you 0 credits because none of the cards are in standard and normally there's no way for a new account to get the cards.
-Second purchase gets you somewhere around 100-500 credits because you already have 4+ copies of the lower rarity cards.
-Third roughly 2k because by now about 90% of the cards here would be at 4+ copies
-Fourth onwards max 4150 credits
-Miraidon you got 1000 because that deck still has cards in standardso you already went over 4 copies in your collection of the lower rarity cards in that deck.
There's a video on this channel that explains it better than I can though. I think its "How to earn credits".
Will you do a special Celebratory video for PTCGL's anniversary?
It'll probably just be my 69th video complaining about Live if I do anything.
May not be the best for players but they'll get over it
I just came back to TCG 2 months ago and compared to other games out there getting resources is a breeze.
Sphene is a calcium titanium silicate gem stone. Still don't know why alolan exeggutor would be swinging it 🧐
The 9 collectors creates are better for older players in my opinion.
Coin removal is actually gonna be so beneficial because you will earn crystals which can be used to get credits! Honestly i love it
Just had a game playing Lugia and I can't attach 1 of the energy from Arhceops...simple bug like this should be fixed
Yes... you got donked
Yep. If your opponent puts enough cards in the Lost Zone, Cramorant’s attack has no attack cost.
@@clothieredward I thought neither player could attack turn 1, is that not how that works?
@@TheDtzcrptr The player who goes second can attack on turn one. It’s how they balance the advantage of getting to go first. Winning the coin flip allows you to choose which advantage you want; some decks do better going second vs going first.
You said your opponent went second. If you go second on turn 1, you can attack if you have enough energy on a Pokemon. And since your opponent got enough cards in the Lost Zone, they were able to attack for free on Turn 1.
I'm a new player. I crafted a tournament winning charizard ex deck and have gone 11-2 so far. It's literally my second day playing.
Still waiting for an actual tournament mode. The old ptcg at least had tournaments to keep us busy and somewhat simulate a sense of seriousness which was fun.
They could literally just make it a paid entry with crystals and have it be the same with packs being given alongside crystals for placing at least top 3.
Its baffling to me that after so long the game is still incredibly barebones.
made my first Master Rank so easily as a new player. conceding does feel nerfed on points on losses compared on last pass
so i just played pokemon tcg pocket and wanted to try pokemon tcg live, i played Master duel how was f2p in this game ? what is the good and the bad ? or should i just stick to tcg pocket
Live is based on the physical TCG, whereas Pocket is its own thing - th-cam.com/video/GsagIQQH664/w-d-xo.html
So as a new player I just need to keep buying the miraidon ex deck with my crystals right?
Shadow Rider - July 2022
Shadow Rider is #1, Miraidon is #2.
I find live is still better than pocket, I came from pocket and got curious and tried live, I was surprised with the amount of rewards and beginner friendly live is plus the diversity in opponent’s deck is better than in pocket
Ah yes.. the typical one step forward three steps back format the pokemon co takes in new sets
BASED take on never abandoning tcglive
They want the new players to play TCG Pocket now...
😂
Because 💲💲💲💰💰💰
Live after a week: "Wow! It's going to take _forever_ to get all the decks I want to play!"
Live after a year: "They literally give you the only decks that have any chance of playing the video game, and all three currencies are totally worthless."
Pocket after a day: "I ran out of resources to complete the tutorial today."
Pocket after a week: "I chose to focus on the Mewtwo pack first, so I can't get any Fire Types to complete the AI battles."
Dude i thought at 1st they made it worst then realized they lowered the exp needed to 500 and getting 500+ exp
I was a little confused by Pokemon TCG Live, seeing as I just started playing it, like..........why is it so freaking hard to get customizations for your avatar? To get cards? To get anything? Especially when you don't start with much to begin with
Getting cards is actually very easy and avatar customization is gonna be free in a month
I just started playing last week after playing pocket for a day but wanting a real card game. I guess things aren't going well for this game...
What they did with a battle pass was was a an awful decision, the main positive and appeal of live was how free to play friendly it was.
I get it that new player are still getting a lot of starters decks but many those can't really compete with current meta.
So far the changes are rolling fine for me. I just hope less bugs and app crashes.
Which deck?

@@TrustYourPilotTCG Thanks for the link. Dragapult, i tried a few decks with a friend in the tcg and liked that one. maybe i will soon have enough crytsals to buy the shadowrider or miraidon decks multiple times
Buying Shadow Rider or Miraidon will definitely be your best bet to eventually build Dragapult.
Pokemon ex cost 600 Credits each, so you only need 1,800 to get 3 Dragapult.
@@TrustYourPilotTCG yes i hope it will be soon, i still think it takes way to long to get these credits. especially for a player that does not know about buying these decks. i really really like the game (except the bugs) but it could even be better :)
a message to the new players: SCAN CODES!!!
Yup. If you have a friend who buys cards and doesn't play live ask them for the codes, too.
I'm pretty sure matchmaking is based on MMR not rank points.
When I started playing the game I played for about a week and got to 400 points and was pretty much only facing people on master league and arceus league with 1000+ points
I think more Crystals and more Collector Crates makes more than up for the less Boosters. To me it‘s a nice change😊
Me with the arch on the first day and already done with 55 lvls of battle pass. Oh, Wow, i screwed up huh...
"What the fuck is a Sphene?"
*FF14 players collectively turning their head*
Year umpteen of wishing and waiting for a MODO-like for Pokémon :(
i think the new pass is better. for the old you had to pay 600 crystals so it’s more like it gives you -100 crystals. Also all the extra crystals you get on the new one more than makes up for the credits you don’t get when you can buy celebrations or vmax decks.
I tried this game tcg online first time and immediately switch to pokemon pocket lol
theyre literally two different games and pocket doesnt follow the physical tcg's rule set whereas tcgl does. its literally comparing apples to oranges as the only similarities are the IP and collecting the cards.
1 step forward, 2 steps back with this game. It's like they want you to by more physical packs or code cards, just to farm credits.
ya no shit. This game does not generate revenue directly, its a loss leader. The entire point of its existence is to, hopefully, sell irl packs.
Its a f2p game with no monetization, the hell are you expecting?
😂 luckily I bought for 10 dollars 2000 code cards. You are better off buying unused code cards to get crystals instead of buying irl packs
The problem is that they themselves don't sell code cards, so you're giving a third party seller the money when it should be going to the developer.
The only good thing this pass is the Ur-Dialga.
that's not an exploit with ditto iirc. People ran this IRL. It's a ruling quirk
Use the pre made ones, or just buy a real life deck, add the code in and complete the rest with the credits you have, that's what I did.
Well live is region locked in some countries lol. I dont need vpn to access pocket
Interesting predicament.
bro how is there 2 tcg games at the same time I was so confused watching this💀
This is the original. New one is pocket.
Pocket is more gatch-game style. Just a blatant cash grab and with there skyrocketing profits already tell me they aint done
One is created by TPCi and the other by TPC in collaboration with DeNA. TPCi doesn't make any money at all from Live and is not playable in TPC regions (Asia), while Pocket has tons of microtransactions and is available mostly worldwide (not in the Netherlands and Belgium)
@@krazykuz13cmc ooh thanks for clarifying. I wish they'd have marketed this one like they did the new one then, I didn't even know this existed sadly
@@Michaelkors172 yeah I'm like 100 bucks in already it's bad ngl
The rewards are backloaded because the pass is meant to be completed and feel like a reward. By climbing the ladder since the update dropped (I'm on rank 24 or so) and I managed to craft a full hydreigon deck, 4 random cheap decks and 3 sylveon for a deck that I swear that will work one day. New players will get way more crystals than before because of the level up rewards.
I understand that your whole point here is to farm for negativity, but this is kind of and objectively incorrect.
The battle pass has better rewards actually... The "losing means nothing" sucks though
? Maybe only they nerfed the credits in the battle pass, but everything else in it seems better, who uses coins anyways.
They need to make it to where players lose rank points on losses, there’s no competitive interest.
this explain why all people play dark charizard ex , because only free 1 deck start from Tier 0
Not even a quarter in the video and I’m questioning why they are removing coins, what did I miss?!?
No one was using that
By the looks of it, TCG live was originally planned to have more explicit monetisation (e.g paying for coins/crystals/credits), but that never really came to anything and this change looks like it's there to reflect that, because on the whole coins are pretty useless.
They were pretty much a useless currency from day 1, only used for cosmetics and Avatar Items, not packs or cards.
Live is still way better than pocket they made pocket way to simplified gets boring so fast
I hate the coin change.
I have spent the entirety of my coins on avatar items.
The ENTIRETY
and the update completely renders all the time and effort ive done to try and complete the entire collection.
What do I get back for it? Fuck all is what apparently.
I can't even get the equivalent coins back to spend on deck cosmetics
Can someone PLEASE tell me where to complain about this?
I tried pocket, the coin mecanic y so F. Anoying, I really dislike the simplicity is just boring for me, I like the new live changes
imagine how bad pokemon tcg pocket is going to be in a few years. 😭 It already feels stingy.
Well, the F2P dream was nice while it lasted
Madlads really managed to make it worse somehow lmao
Well I guess it's a good thing I have 8 yŕs of code cards to scan for cards and credits.. 30,000 credits and I'm not even close to halfway through.. 😅
I still prefer Live to Pocket
still waiting for ptcgl to release globaly so i don't have to play with shitty vpn connection anymore
