    In my case fortunately I DID play the Aragami games in order-save for their technical-predecessor Path of Shadows, which I could never get to actually work despite being a free small game but Maybe Someday™, and also I still havent gotten around to 1's DLC-A2 in particular I got within the same week it released I think. Yeah the story is not mastercrafted or wholly unique and the presentation can feel jank or basic at times, but it's overall an improvement over 1 and is why I played the sequel four/five times as much as the first game (16 vs ~80 hours). It's also real cool being able to play with not just one but TWO other players if you want.
    I knew the devteam was small but considering how it came out I thought A2 was a gem, rough or not... so when I saw the company was closed down, I felt a profound longing. It seemed like they had just gotten somewhere, and now had to drop it all to either merge with other developer companies or do something else entirely... and considering that there was an entire graveyard placed into the hub village of the game with a slew of names that the devs knew and held dear, it broke my heart. But some games don't even get this far, so, it's bittersweet I suppose. I just hope they all get to return to their passion project(s) someday.
    Besides all that, you showed some bits that I hadn't considered much before as options or had not even realized just how great the variety was compared to other stealth games, so keep up the good work! =]

    while getting multiple options will lead to me inevitably using the strongest or most efficient because my brain will criticize me if I don't (use an interesting niche tool to solve a problem well why didn't I use this stronger tool its faster, more plentiful, and objectively better to use in this situation)
    still good analysis though very well thought out and excellently explained I agreed with most points despite my differing views.

If you're a dev, how do you even pick a release date where you won't get lost in the crowd? And they're not just competing with new releases, but all the games that came before it. Why buy a new indie when you can buy a discounted game from your backlog that's 2 months old… then buy the new game after IT'S 2 months old.

    I was willing to let it go that you thought Aragami 2 was better than Aragemi 1. But you lost me once you said Black Flag was bad compared to Odyssey. It's probably the age gap and new generation coming in, but Black Flag was considered a pinnacle of Assassin Creed's game with gameplay and graphics that even modern games are struggling to replicate, never mind surpass. Odyssey is considered the be the beginning of Open World Ubisoftication of games, and hardly in a right direction. The idea that your backstab doesn't kill the target because your arbitrary level number above your head is not greater than their head is everything that is wrong with Ubisoft gaming in the first place. Have a good day, sir. Hurumph.

  • @monkeypete4018
    @monkeypete4018 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    1:41 "Black Flag does not feel great after Odyssey" ... Black flag is considered one of the best games of the franchise whereas Odyssey is seen as one of the worst. So this is a hot take. Why do you think Odyssey "feels" better?

    • @MediaKitGaming
      @MediaKitGaming  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      You may dislike Odyssey but it is NOT seen as one of the worst. That is factually untrue. Odyssey is highly regarded. I just Googled “ranking all the Assassin's Creed games” and looking at the top 6 articles 4/6 ranked Odyssey over Black Flag. 1/6 ranked BF over Odyssey. 1/6 was a Reddit post that ranked BF over Odyssey.
      The rest is opinion. You’re welcome to like your games in any order and I won’t tell you you’re wrong. Nevertheless, Odyssey has vastly superior melee combat. It's much more challenging. Black Flag's melee combat was a cakewalk. Odyssey has a much larger skill tree which heavily influences melee combat options. Odyssey looks better, has a wanted system, boss battles, ranged archery combat with a variety of arrows, and ridable horses. The closest thing BF has to ranged combat is the occasional musket you pick up but can’t keep. Odyssey lets the ship dock and your character disembark seamlessly. Movement is generally more snappy while BF feels sluggish by comparison. In Black Flag, I didn’t enjoy whaling or anything swimming-related. Swimming is much better in Odyssey. The modern-day stuff is diminished in Odyssey, another plus. Odyssey has no stealth tailing missions, with fail-states for being spotted, something that IS generally regarded as a negative in games. Odyssey's open world is actually open, whereas in BF many of the islands were actually linear trails. The only thing I really enjoyed about BF was the navel combat... and Odyssey improved on it, as one would expect a sequel game to do. Any way... there's a partial answer.

    Play tenchu stealth assassins 1 and 2, best grapple and drop down kills ever, you get to unlock various items and weapons and each charcter has unique move sets and slight difference in playstyles, also the story is actually good, most cutscenes are not too long and they also set the scene. Various hidden items also let you replay the levels for more replayabliity as well as ascoring system that allows you to garner more exp to farm for more items to aid in mission. Enemies sre varied and enemy pathing is fairly well thought out and the ai for the time was decently done as well.

    • @MediaKitGaming
      @MediaKitGaming  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@vexicution5533 Great question. I'm no dev. Most of the games I play have inferior melee combat to Oni's. I got really good at the game back in the 2000s. Now it's the game I compare every melee experience to. I'm not sure if you're asking about game setting or combat mechanics. I'll go with setting since I don't think describing game mechanics with words translates well. I don't think we have enough good sci-fi games. They're mostly shooters or horror.
      I'd like a game similar to Watch Dogs but in a sci-fi setting. Where the player can drive vehicles, use guns, but also get into melee tussles. Possibly like Cyberpunk 2077 but third-person, with GOOD-handling cars, flying cars, and melee that's more than punch and dodge. The Horizon games have some of the best ranged-combat I've ever experienced. (did a video on Zero Dawn's combat). So, futuristic setting, ranged combat like Horizon, melee like Oni, drivable flying vehicles, and interactable environments… breakable, exploitable. Definitely AAA. That's kinda my dream game.
      Not sure if that really answers your question. The upcoming “Spine” has my attention (guns & CQC). But you wouldn't ask if you didn't have your own answer. What kind of hack & slash would you make?

    • @vexicution5533
      @vexicution5533 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MediaKitGaming Wow that is a sick idea, and you`re right there is isn't really a sci-fi game like that, when games take an open world approach I notice the melee combat take a back seat. Cyberpunk was meant to be in 3rd person but they when back on the idea which disappointed me since I was going to buy it.
      I`m telling you now, the game you`re described sounds like my type of game and YOU WOULD HAVE MY MONEY HANDS DOWN.
      And Spine also has my attention.
      Now to answer my own question, I have many, many ideas of what I would do but just to pick one of them I would make a game similar to Kingdom Hearts but instead of Disney characters, they will be existing videogame IPS, you go to the words of videogames where you fight alongside or maybe against the protagonist of that universe.
      Now it would make sense to pick the well-known popular videos games but I would pick the games I personally enjoy.
      Some examples of videogame worlds I would pick:
      Soulstice
      Mass Effect
      Darksiders
      Sonic
      Stellar Blade
      Crash Bandicoot
      It would mix different genres together (interms of gameplay) and have different set pieces but at the core it`s a hack & slash game .
      For the game that so called "unpopular" I would set some eyes on it, for example Soulstice.
      It`s a dark fantasy, hack & slash game, made by Reply Game Studios that takes inspirations from the anime Claymore and Berserk, you will see the inspirations strait away as soon as you see the main character and the boss designs.
      Soulstice is an underrated game that would get attention and might make players want to try out the game.
      However I know it would be expensive and I would really need to think about how the protagonist would interact with the other protagonists but it`s one of my dream game concepts.

      At the core it would be a hack & slash game but I would mix different genres in as well for example the world of Mass Effect will sometimes have third person shooting sections while the world of sonic will have some sections that`s all about speed or the world of Soulstice where it would be a typical hack & slash fun.

      Good game. But I don't have a concept of what I'd say about it that would contribute meaningfully to the conversation.

    This channel is WAAAY too underrated. I'll do my part to fix that.
    By the way, I liked Aragami 1 more than the sequel. The ability to paint shadows onto the environment was a cool feature. Also, the soundtrack in the first game was better by far. It also didn't put abilities like shadow kill on a cooldown.

    honestly i preferred aragami 1 as there were more exciting skill options and the story was fleshed out through cutscenes and levels rather than just boring dialogue

      @sesshonuyasha 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MediaKitGaming A Much more refined and later entry from the stellar splinter cell series that had some quality of life mechanics like building up a lock on auto kill feature throughout the mission; smoothing out the play experience for more casual stealth enjoyers.
      I also remember bunch of cool gear to facilitate a ghost or assassin or run and gun style approaches
      Lastly Co-op missions that allowed for coordinated awesomeness with my bro.
      Oh man another stealth title I adored was AC Rogue damn good time :)

    Hey, you know what's like those games, but even better? Tenchu!
    Well, it's not _really_ like those games. Unlike aragami it's quite scaled back when it comes to movement mechanics. It' quite slow and methodical, a lot like the original tomb raider games, which is something that i really enjoy personally. I'd suggest you give the tenchu games a try at some point, my favourites are fatal shadows and wrath of heaven for the ps2. They do have the issue of having a very outdated control scheme. but nothing one can't get used to. Unlike the tenchu games for the PS1, they really control like ass. Tenchu is also made by Fromsoft, so if you wanna see what kind of games fromsoft did before they decided to do nothing but dark souls with slight variation than that's a good place to start.

    Aragami 1 is good in its own right, aragmi 2 follows close in tenchu stealth assassins. Play tenchu 1 2 and 3 there was a decent remake/reboot for xbox gen2 console that is worthwhile as well. Those are the best stealth games ever, i will die on this hill until someone creates a true successor. Yes aragami 2 is great but only in spirit, its still no tenchu
