Thank you, Chelsea, for raising awareness about the possibility of starting a portrait color painting phase without having yet established a likeness in an accurate drawing. It inspires me to practice more to build the skill that would enable the trust that I could find the likeness during the painting phase. I'm glad you included a couple of tips about how to get started in that journey.
I can't stress enough the joy painting with others brings me, so much so that in the last few months my friends and I set up a weekly portrait painting session in my city where we can just sit and practice, and of course pause for coffee and sharing tips. The sense of community makes "practice" feel like play so much so that we've all gotten so good at capturing an oil portrait in but a few hours. I wish it was more of a thing for sure! Not hiring models just asking friends and people we know to sit for us, some of the best practice in yeears.
Chelsea, just loved this whole journey. Just watching has really inspired me to think differently! Thank you so much. I have been painting portraits for a year after retirement, having worked as a make up artist. So much to learn, to stop myself from blending. Thank you so much. 💋🙏❤️Stephanie from Spain
I can’t find the link you mentioned to the first part of this painting. I’d be interested in this paint group (estokes? I googled but couldn’t find anything)
hi Chelsea, I am interested in bootcamp but reluctant to give details because I can't find cost and if it is open to overseas intake? Id really like indication of cost so im not wasting your time please
I have a question, and you have to forgive my english sometimes.. The question is : How do i/you keep your focus in drawing or painting?! I Mean: the focus on the small details in a face or a horse or an apple or or..?! Some times when i draw something it came perfect because of my high focus and sometimes or usually i can draw anything no matter what i do.... So what's the secret to keep the focus in a high level specially for the details?! Maybe to you the answer will by easy. But it's important.., Oh I'm talking first about pensel then the colours.

I love the east oaks studio lives..... So appreciate you all. Wish I lived closer.
Never occured to me that keeping a compressed value structure early on helps with thinking about which shapes to merge. Thanks for the insight!
this is really beautiful ❤ getting the original sketch accurate really is the most important part

Overworking a piece for me makes it get so illustrated looking...ugggggg I hate that.
Beautiful painting but your constant talking is distracting. Occasional pauses of silence can allow some breathing space
Stop the video when you need to take a break.
Hi Chelsea. Your channel is brilliant. I sent you a DM on insta asking permission to use a clip for my film. Hope I can! Many thanks, James
