Unfortunately, we never got to see this Zidane at a world cup. I think 2002 W.C would've been Zizou's world cup peak but...that injury. He was so good at Euro 2000, should've won his 2nd ballon d'or that year! Love the quality on this upload!
@nashorn7538 Zidane got 244 votes to Ronaldo's 66 in 1998 Balllon d'or vote. Wasn't even close....and rightfully so. He was a key to Juve's and France's success that year. Serie A champ, C.L runners up, World Champion....his 1998 Ballon d'or was not only well deserved but was also one of the easiest and most obvious choices in the award's history, which makes your comment quite bizarre.
That's not true. We saw Zidane like this and even better in the quarterfinals of the 2006 World Cup against Brazil. And if we're talking about the tournament, he was recognized as the best player in that tournament as well. But I would agree with the other part of the statement - 2002. It must and should have been his best World Cup, but....

True. His form for Real Madrid at club level was also very good leading up to that point.
Actually should've been his 1st in 2000 as Ronaldo deserved the 98's.
