I prefer the Chinese Nio EP9 car because it's far more visually stunning and seems more like an F-1 car with roll up windows, etc. plus the turbine sound it produces at speed is intoxicating. Of course, their only making a very limited number of these ground rockets at a cost of only $1.2M and would likely never be approved to be sold here anyway.
@@puffcatco Sorry but you guys have been beaten. By a Mclaren. Just because it can go straight does not mean its fast. I know the new Tesla cant turn. And the NIO was lets say not a production car. It cannot be used on a road.
@Angus Chandler fast doesn't mean you can handle corners, you need downforce as well. Which is why f1 cars are still monsters even with all the nerfing they did. F1 on tracks because of low weight and suspensions handily wipe any car electric or not simply due to physics. Weight on track is a very large disadvantage when it come to handling.
The EP9 for it's cosmetic beauty, acoustic turbine sound and the fact that it looks like a race car which could be upgraded to well exceed 200 mph. But..... they're only making a handful of them at well over a a million a piece and only for running on a track.
The NIO EP9 is a sportier looking car, but I would need to switch up the batteries to get that Telsa long range of 620 miles per charge that would be beautiful.
What you get with Tesla is a complete American car. It includes charging stations across the U.S. and servicing. In my opinion a very high quality product also, having owned the Model 3 for 6 months. We just completed a 3k road trip to S. Dakota driving 80-90 MPH in 100 degree heat, the car ran Flawlessly. I would not want to try that in a Chinese supercar, but it could be the highlight of your life doing it in a Tesla Roadster!
Tesla doesn't hold world records, this one does on a known track that has stressed many other known race cars that handle far more than the tesla. Your tesla doesn't. FACT, now deal with it.
@Angus Chandler straight line is easy, cornering and downforce along with performance is not. Strapping a rocket to a car can also get you fast straight line speeds and can destroy every tesla and car on the planet EASILY. Or simply a big motor. Big batteries give range, big motors give power. But that ends there. The extra weight kills performance and cornering. Light weight always makes for better handling. You cannot get away from physics and there is no free lunch
You guys have to understand why NIO cost alot than tesla here 1) NIO complex bodywork take time and resources to do which it require alot of expertist and effort to put it ( if NIO power to weight ratio can as as high as F1 it basically a legal F1 on the road ) 2) NIO never mean to be built for straight line performance, a car that built to go around the track faster than any car here, boy, it wont be the fastest in straight line for some reason ( weight, aero, downforce drag, name it ) 3) EP9 was first hypercar shown by nio company to showcase their potential in FE and what electric can do in racing 4) Roadster is a car, i mean could be supercar by tesla whereby it goal has been talked..it will go as fast as it can to break a record ..in STRAIGHT LINE..go to from 0 to 100 or 300 or 250mph, as fast as it can...elon musk never mention to bet a TRACK RECORD 5) fastest around the track & fastest in straight line is totally different things guys, make it clear
The Nio because of its great looks and exhilarating sound which I heard in another video! The Tesla's range is awesome though ... but we'll have to wait till it is really there how it turns out 'for real'!
rope nope and haven't seen the tesla go 1.9 either would like to see them head to head drag, race and flying lap at circuit de Americas that would determine which is the fastest. Just going in straight line is not a complete fastest car, just fastest accelerating 0 to 60 quarter mile mile
Specs on paper. But specs don't list corner speed and g forces pulled to corner and maintain speed with minimal braking. Braking is also an important factor
Mr. Mech, I have wanted a Pagani for a long time but when I watched your 6:45 run the car handled so smooth and cornered remarkable. The Zonda was on the edge and the driver had to pay attention. I dont have to tell you about the specs of the Tesla and that being said you have made a great car. I dont know the price but I think its the preference of the indavidual. Well done now get those numbers up a little better cause the 4 door Tesla has you beat and is only about $60,000. None the less a beautiful car.
Okay. A Tesla P100D does 0-60 in the same time and is a family, road legal car. Yes it has more speed, but when are you gonna use that speed on a road, not that you can. And you don’t have to take the battery out
It is confirmed to have the same intelligence features as the model s as standard, with maybe even more. Regardless, the tesla roadster will be able to drive itself without any user input once they get past all the regulations and stuff
I'd wait and see untill Musk can actualy put his money where his mouth is.. He has quite a history of claiming shit that isn't true so. Besides both Rimac and Nio look miles better than the Roadster..
and how many of those were GPS messured and not only in a straight line? This car is just as every tesla.. a one trick pony and that being its fast in a straight
I like the Tesla Model S and X, and that's it! Those are the only cars made by Tesla, that I like. Leave it to the likes of NIO & Rimac to build electric hypercars. The C2 should be quite something too!
Tesla made a great move. they don't create P(Insert number)D's anymore. They are going full on for supercars. all of you have been asking for a supercar from tesla. or now a hypercar. now be happy don't go ridicule it
Acceleration is only part of the performance. Cornering is a very important factor in f1 and is much more important as you can maintain speeds and pull huge Gs.
Too bad 3/4 of your report was on the ep9 and barely anything on the tesla. If you're going to do a comparison, put all of the information side by side on both of these vehicles and don't concentrate three-quarters of your reporting on one vehicle and just a small amount on the other. Tesla wins, because in acceleration is faster and the top speed the same, the nio is almost like koenigsegg agera r, because have acceleration of a normal race car, but with a normal top speed 217mph, cars like the tesla roadster, pininfarina, chiron, rimac concept 2 o lotus evija must be not street legal because of the acceleration and highest top speed
Straight line speed on a roaster doesn't mean it's fast in corners or braking nor will it generate more downforce for even faster cornering. If they both corner at the same speed the tesla would fly of the track and burn in hell while the ep9 would happily go around the corner
2.7sec acceleration doesn't mean you can corner. Let alone have the downforce to corner at that speed. Acceleration is only part of the answer when it comes to track

I want both of them sitting in my garage. Will drive the ep9 on even days and the tesla on the odd days.
I like more the NIO it's a better looking and cheaper plus have about the same tecnologic.NIO definitely will be the future on EVS
The difference NIO is a real car in production. The Tesla is still a dream!!

surely 1341bhp can get a car 0-60 faster that 2.7, and much faster that 7.1 to 100
There are a lot more things than just horsepower that determine a cars 0-60 time.
Do remember for ep9 is 0-100km for 2.7 and 0-200km for 7.1 the tesla is 0-97km for 1.9 and 0-161km for that 4.2
Do remember tesla didnt show nothing but promises.. talk shit when it comes out and can corner as well as the Nio..
