If you want horror HOGs I totally recommend the Campfire Legends trilogy: The Hookman, The Babysitter and The Last Act. They're kinda old at this point (started in 2009 iirc) and I'll be honest it's been years since I played them so I don't know how they hold up both in comparison to newer games with better software and in regards to them being scary because I was younger back then, so more easily scared I guess, but I remember enjoying them quite a lot and finding them quite scary for HOGs, plus the art and puzzles were really nice, they did a good job with the atmosphere (and I vaguely recall the protagonist actually holding onto key items?? I could be wrong though). Also they had my mom actually interested in the story and enjoying the horror, two things she doesn't care for at all when it comes to HOGs, she likes the puzzles and that's it lol especially the latter, she hates horror of any kind, so they did something right 😅
I feel like Gab would enjoy playing a lot of games made by Big Fish Games, which is where 'Phantasmat: The Dread of Oakville' is from. They make A TON of HOG games. And I love them, even though I could only play just a bit of the games, because I have to pay for the full versions😅.
I would recommend the very first Shiver game called "Shiver: The Vanishing Hitchhiker." That game is actually pretty scary towards the begining.
@@goldengears5355 Gab played that like 4 years ago actually lol I don't remember her opinion on it at all though but I do remember loving it myself, the art style especially, it set the atmosphere so well.
@@ninarances9074 So true. I mean it's no wonder that Big Fish had the HOG genre in a chokehold for years, their games were always the most fun to play imo. Me and my mom would pick HOGs at random because she wanted whatever since all she was after was the puzzles and finding objects and like 9 times out of 10 it'd end up being a Big Fish game lol
I loveeee campfire legends I would always play them when I got out of school, real childhood memories
I love how Gabs, who is basically the Queen of HOGS, is still finding these rare gems of games AND she is still fascinated by them and the mechanics they use. They never seem to get stale for her
I love how you're actually pronouncing it "hog." The spookiest, most scariest piggy around, this is.
"Hey, a net. I hate that guy." This makes me happy every single time. Great film, and the quote always makes me laugh. Thank you.
A truly priceless work of art. Probably my favorite film. I really need to rewatch it soon!
Please , what film is being referenced here?
@@kalezuki9231 From googling the phrase, it might be a reference to Robin Hood: Men In Tights. The OG line goes,
"Hey Abbot!"
"I hate that guy."
Hope that helps!
@@rezzy8590 Oh , haha! I love that movie and that part in it , didn't realize it was inspired by that. Thanks!
@@rezzy8590 which was a mel blanc movie parody of abbott and costello.
i just got off from work and am so ready to relax!! your timing could not have been more perfect
Gabs talking about books and her having really good problem solving skills I wonder if she’d be good at solving a Agatha Christie book 📚
Yes! Also she could try out the Agatha Christie games! They play like Nancy Drew!
@@ahhhanime10 Yes! That’s so cool I didn’t know there were Agatha Christie games! I’m going to have to check that out for myself lol
1:12:24 if you wanna know about another object that’s labeled wrong, that’s an English Horn, not an Oboe
New HOG video with Gab?! Well, that's just made my evening. Time to get cozy and do some puzzles!
it's one of eipix's best. i hope you enjoy it!
I'VE READ CLARIEL SO I WAS VERY EXCITED TO HEAR GAB WAS READING IT. Clariel is definitely a weird one, but I kinda love it, just because of the ending and how it sets itself up to be a reveal. Always so awesome to see other people into the Abhorsen series :)

The spike of endorphin i get when I see you play a HOG is UNREAL. Thank you 💛😭🌻🌼🌼🌼 This game was so creative! Please play the other two in the series!!
Playing a HOG myself: 🤨☹️😭
Watching Gab play a HOG: 🥳🥳🥳
Thanks for entertaining me in the most bubbly and enjoyable way Gab, you make my day so much better! Lots of love to you Sean and BB ❤️❤️❤️
Take a shot every time gab goes "is there a morphing opject?" And then finding it immediately after lol
So glad I found this backlog of HOGs on your channel Gabby! Just a few minutes in and obsessed with how you react to all the funky things this one does with the inventory.
When I heard “population 11, can you imagine?” I started singing “JUST A SMALLTOWN GIIIIIRL”
This was so relaxing, but also stimulates the mind as an old guy. I've got your HOG playlist saved, and you will be a pleasure to hang out with as I make my way through. Cheers
19:25
LOL your easter egg references are always the best.
Here in Newfoundland we have a settlement called Tilt Cove which holds the record for "smallest town in Canada" with a whopping 4 residents.
At first I read that as "Tit Cove" and... 😅 😹
Hey, fellow Canadian here! I had to look that up because I live in Saskatchewan and that still sounded surreal but it is absolutely true. I find it kinda funny haha
I don't usually like hogs much, but these are pretty fun and funny. When Gab said"okay I've made a locket. We're fighting a puppet, how's that going to help? We should just bring fire!" I lost it!!!😂😂😂
I haven’t thought about Sabriel in years! I read the trilogy when I was a young teenager and loved them! Definitely gonna have to go back and re-read them 😄
There is a really good hidden objects game it’s called murder in the alps and I think you’d really like because of the story line and it’s fun. I really like it because it’s a true crime hidden object and your solving murders but I thought you would like it to.
Ahhh I love your HOG videos they are extra cozy. Also wow Gab you have become a master at these games holy!
Awweee hell yeah new smolders video!!! Thank you for bringing such comfort and energy to your viewers lives! I’ve been on a binge of some of your series like Alice:Madness Returns and Fatal Frame (you are my first taste of Fatal Frame and I’m so excited to continue with it!) I hope you had a fun time recording this vid and a good day! 💜💜💜
Yesss another HOG!! Your happiness for playing theses is so infectious:)
the phantasmat games are amazingly written.. of course i'm one for mystery case files as well
Glad to hear you're reading the Old Kingdom! It's my all time favourite series and Sabriel is my favourite book! I do agree, Clariel is pretty different and I think it's not as good as the initial trilogy, but I think it's nice that it adds a different perspective from someone who isn't actually an Abhorsen.
Perfect, I wanted something exciting yet cozy to watch while I'm backing and now I noticed this video and I'm excited to watch it
Finally!!!!!!! I’m so excited to watch this after work! And chill
I think a good book for you would be The Midnight Library. It's a bout a woman who tries to die and ends up in a library where she can pick a book and redo choices in her life to see how her life might have turned out had she done things differently.
If I am not mistaken Gab, that piano thing was a fancy dulcimer. It's popular instrument in the United States Mid-west in bluegrass music very pretty music and instrument but takes alot of practice.
1:08:30 I don't like how they just wrapped the wires up in tape and stuffed them back in. What if two of the wires cross and the whole thing shorts out?
Een boek dat ik leuk vind te lezen is elvenblauw van Johan Vandevelde met een taal gebruik voor wat groteren maar waar toch een spannend verhaal aan zit van het boek.
This is a good one, but the BEST one is the very first Phantasmat in the series. None of the sequels have matched its spooky atmosphere IMO
I swear on my life, I just watched you play this last week. Yes I binge watch your hogs lol. I'm thinking it was 3 years ago. I will 100% re-watch it though.
After some research... I watched it on twitch last week🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
This was actually super entertaining to watch, thank you
Clariel had an ending I really appreciated that ties into other parts of the books! Goldenhand I liked, but still nothing lived up to Lirael and Abhorsen! I still need to read the newest book. Garth nix has a short stoy collection called Across the Wall that contains info for the Abhorsen series as well as his other short stories. They are very good!
you’re literally a queen, love your content so much!!
i love these videosss!!! please do moreee i’ve rewatched this like three times!
"too heavy to move by hand" I thought it was a kettlebell and about to scream. I was proven wrong lol
I laughed when I saw the title. Oakville is a suburb of Toronto I used to visit pretty regularly because I had some old friends there. I'm sure you find that story fascinating, but if not, I've got others. Some even more fascinating. 😁
Hey Gab! I love your content! It makes me feel all nice and warm inside 🥰
it may not be a horror HOG, but i seriously recommend Adera. its honestly an amazing game, great graphics, wonderful puzzles, story driven, and something i think you would really enjoy
Loved the Villain!
Major IT vibes~
Yess the queen of HOG is back 🥳 after a really stressful day, thank you Evelyn
This reminds me of a game I played it's called Murder In the Alps 😌it is a really good game, where u are the detective a woman (hell yes) and u try to solve murder cases that happen in the different places she travels too 😌 it also has voice acting for the characters. For me the stories are quite intriguing😊
I'd be down to watch more phantasmat gameplay if you decide to do another one!
My favorite is always the Mystery Casefiles games! Especially Ravenherst
I was promised the spookiest HOG and yet I don't see a cute pig in a Michael Myers mask 😠
56:28 I thought of “Dremel (tool)” as well, but then I quickly realized that they wouldn’t use that bc it’s a brand name. It’s just a name that’s become synonymous with the product like Kleenex, Band-Aid, and the formerly trademarked Thermos. Thermos still uses their name and logo, but they lost their trademark on the name because it became the word people used for that object. I think off-brand Band-Aids will always be called “adhesive bandages,” but I really can’t think of another word for thermos
Shoutout to that chatter who knew what to call the Dremel tool
If you like paranormal romance, you can't go wrong with Nalini Singh. Her psy/changeling series is so good. So is her archangel series.
PJ Tracy does great mysteries. Any time you or your readers want good book recs, just let me know. 😁
Hi, At 2:07:39 The woman relaxed in the chair with her hand on her face. Looks like Bet Midler. Stay safe from Covid-19 to you and your loved ones.
The thumbnail scared me!!! Lol
don't think I've ever seen a HOG ask for a shotgun before
it's so funny because I used to live in the city called Oakville for 4 years🤣
Is the real one also scary and full of puzzles? :D
@@guerney2000 not really. it's kinda boring and is basically a rich retirement community ( I'm neither rich or retired 🤣) ...I lived there only because my college is in that city lol
You really should play the first Phantasmat game, it's my personal favorite...SO good. It's just called Phantasmat. As of 2019 there are 13 games in the series :)
When I was a child our dad drove us through the countrys smallest town, It used to be a big town, but shrunk over time.
The first time we went through there there were only 5 houses...
The last time I passed through there was as a teenager and there were only 2 houses left, but they still had the town signs...
(I do believe it is gone now)
how cool! I played older Phantasmat games :D I love hidden Object esp Ravenhurst
omg your reading Garth NIX I love him, the audio books where Tim Curry is reading the first three are my new favorite versions.
Wow you totally just reminded me of the Garth Nix books, I read those many years ago! I've only read the original trilogy
i grew up reading anne rice, rest in peace wonderful storyteller, stephen king and agatha christie. they inspired me to become a writer because their way of storytelling is just so immersive. especially stephen king's books. they have a way of drawing me into it as if i am really there with the characters and sometimes reads as a movie. he's one i truly admire and try to emulate whenever i write.
Have you played the original Phantasmat Gab? It’s one of my favorite HoGs, definitely recommend it!
i still need to play the first one. the second one sucked me into the series, but phantasmat: endless night is my all-time favorite.
I just started playing Stardew because of how much fun i saw you having in your playthrough of it!
I was waiting for this upload! This HOG was just too much fun and so spooky. Being very cozy and watching this right now on my break.
This made me feel so cozy 😌
Heck yeah! Just finished watching a previous Christmas hog
Oh I love Garth Nix books! I just finished reading Terciel and Elinor. The first book is still my favorite, Sabriel is the best
I'm just now getting into watching your hogs but I got started with Mystery Case Files and they are still my favorites.
love these hidden object games
Stephen King's "Mr. Mercedes" trilogy and "The Outsider" were such good reads, I
would definitely recommend them. I would also recommend Rob Hobb's Farseer trilogy if you want some good fantasy books.
"an earthquake, I hope she got to safety"
Me: "I hope not"
I really liked the phantasmat series :D I got all of them from bigfish games as well as a bunch of other fun ones^^ this will be fun to watch
you should try haunted halls, except for the 4th one ofc.
42:32 TELL ME I'm wrong but like, is that NOT 'Baby' sitting on the shelf? I fuckin' swear that's the 67' Chevy impala! In a spooky ghost busting hog?? I BET.
Dang I remember when the first phantasmat game came out! Good times
I loved reading the old kingdom books :) My favorites are Sabriel and Abhorsen
everybody's talking about relaxing but I literally got jumpscared at the Irving bit 😂
Super Game ! I'm an addict to Hidden Object Games. I'm gonna play it. Thanks for the recommandation.
So I had this video on as background noise while I goofed off online. And then I heard you say 'Clariel', and my attention IMMDEDIATELY shot back to here. I LOVE those books, though admittedly, the original trilogy is stronger than 'Clariel' and 'Goldenhand'. I would say it's worth reading both, though.
I LOVE the Abhorsen books. I rarely hear anyone else talk about them. You should try reading the Alanna series by Tamora Pierce. I think you'd enjoy them
Yay for POG!! I hope there will be a Christmas POG!
I agree with the comments, if going for phantasmat, don't go for the "newer" ones, but rather go for the first one in the series. It's by far the best, and one of the best older HOG's out there.
YES hidden object game again!!!
Just found this channel. I love horror games. I played the phantasmat crucible peak. Its a good one.
That's not a rocket, that's vib rator. They just couldn't show it outright.
The old kingdom trilogy is one of my favorite series ever! One of the few I've read more than once! Gurrlll if you need any book recs just let me know
Love the Abhorsen books!! Read them many times!
The Narrator in the beginning sounds like Kate Mulgrew. I might have spelled her last name wrong, but she was the Captain in Star Trek Voyager. She loves doing voiceovers for games apparently. I recalled hearing her in Dragon Age games as Morrigan's mother.
Whoa...the realism of the characters is so creepy!
I never finished Clariel, but I still love the series as a whole. Personally, Sabriel is my favorite. I like Lirael but I have to be in the right mood to read it since it doesn't have quite as much action.
One hidden object game you should do is either mystery case files dire grove or Maze subject 360. Both are really really good!
My favorite series of HOGs will always be the Dark Parables series. I dont think the website that held them exists anymore. Big fish games. The final Cinderella will always be my favorite
I'm happy for the new book recommendation lol. Adding it to my wishlist for later. I've been super absorbed into The Rising of the Shield Hero light novel series.
Going to be watching this while I get my tattoo.
I looked away from the vid for a sec and I thought that the sound of the airhorn was BB meowing😭😭😭😭
Mr. Nightingale looks like Slappy The Dummy.
Gabs I recomend u the game Mountain Crime:Requital.
Is a hidden object game with a bit of horror. 😻😻😻
Im excited for the HOG but honestly Im looking into this book shes talking about! I've never heard of it! But I think I might pick it up!
oh dang i remember reading sabriel like in highs school or so maybe. i don't remember how far i got through it though maybe i'll pick it up the series and re read it again and read the newer stuff.
Brandon Mull is pretty good for fantasy. If you want fun detective stories Chet and Bernie is pretty good.
Lol Gab the town i grew up in was in Maine and they currently only have a population of 465 as of 2019. I don't live there anymore but it was always small
I loved the abhorsen books!!!
