Yep, did this recently. Don't know why Porsche didn't offer this from factory tbh, great little upgrade.

Your car is crazy beautiful. I have a 718 cayman S that Im due to trade for a 997 turbo tomorrow. Exciting times.

Thank you! You’re doing great trade! The 997 turbo (especially the early cars pre -08) will go down in history as some of the best 911 Turbos to ever exist! Congrats!🎉

In your intro you say the 991, you mean to say 981.
I have used a couple of other BT CarPlay adapters, this one looks much nicer than the ones I’ve tried.
Going to try this on my Cayman GTS 4.0

Great tip for my Swedish Spyder.
I also did your recommendation of the Valve control unit.
Some how would like to DM you on the seat covers.

Looks good, BUT… here’s the thing… does it reliably reconnect automatically if you turn off the ignition, leave the car and then get back in again for another journey? I couldn’t be bothered with having to pair it each time. More information on this would be most helpful. Thank you.

So far it’s been very reliable. And the connector looses its power when you turn off the ignition. Sure it takes a couple of seconds to boot and connect, but less then fiddling with a cord. :)

Just connected mine, bought through the Amazon link provided. So far works perfect. Just plug & play.

But how do you charge it then?

    Does this work with a 2012 991.1?

Unfortunately not as it’s only the connection that you get. The actual carplay software is still run in the head unit. However there are other ways of getting carplay in your car, but you need to take the head unit out

I have another wireless CarPlay adapter and I’ve identified a parasitic drain when the car is off which kills the battery after about 4 days or so. Have you noticed any of this with this adapter? Thanks.

So far I have not noticed anything like that. The usb seems to get power when you unlock the car and no power at all when locked.
Is your also connected to the USB-A port only?
Usually this has nothing to do with these kind of devices themselves but rather the car setup. They will always drain power if the car feeds power to their connection.
I have the same in my R8 where a sketchy bluetooth bridge drains the battery after some time.

Thanks for the reply. I have it in the center console like yours in my Cayman GTS 4.0. Just brought it in for an oil change and had them look at where the draw was coming from and they determined that the car was showing a 0.5 amp draw. When they reran the test with the adapter unplugged the draw dropped to 0.1 amp. I’ll probably check out the one you have linked to see if it makes a difference. Defeats the purpose to have to plug the adapter in every me I get in the car.

Any losses in sound quality compared to having the phone plugged in?
