That moment you realise that Ratatouille, a film made 14 years ago, has more diversity in the bloody kitchen staff than this entire show does in it's main cast.
Ratatouille is amazing. It’s a show about art (culinary art, but still art) created by artists. It’s about passion and love, but the kind of love that one has for their work. It’s clearly done with an understanding of how culinary arts works, and it’s so good. I can talk for hours.

Ok. As someone who grew up in LA and was "in the industry" for a while, I can tell you that this isn't just the HFPA. The Oscars and Emmys run like this, too. The rules officially state that you can't give gifts to academy members in order to sway their opinion, but there's a loophole that absolves this in the "swag", the term for goodies you get in official merchandise to hype up a movie. When you provide the free tickets to screen the film, you can "gift" it with pretty much whatever you want, as long as it's relevant to the film. So say if the movie is based in Paris, you can gift ridiculously expensive vintage French wine or a Louis Vuitton bag worth tens of thousands of dollars, and call it "swag". It's not a bribe, silly, it's just promotional material! 🙄

It honestly saddens me how many Americans actually think they need to "improve" other countries. I'm Brazilian and was once told my country needed to watch more "good American content", as if the fact that most Brazilians themselves think that anything produced in Brazil is shit and that everything from America is the gold standard wasn't enough for them.
Now they (american and english people, english speakers in general) are trying to improve us again, not only Brazilians but everyone else, with this gender neutral bs. I’m tired of being called latinx Edit: wanted to add something
@@RevanSurik Not really. I don’t think a person in Pakistan cares about that. Also, when it comes to gender neutral PEOPLE, it comes gender neutral LANGUAGE. And THAT’S the problem. Learn how to read. So no my argument is not invalid
@@mm4843 Oh I know how to read. The neutral gender in language is specifically tied with non-binary gender identities; as some languages have exclusively binary (male/female) pronouns, there's this debate around including neutral gender pronouns and suffixes for those who identify as neither he nor she. It's a valid discussion that, if done right, will only enrich the language. Even if this debate became mainstream in English-speaking countries first, it's not an English-speaking issue. Also, gender diversity isn't a Western thing. Westerners aren't the only humans to show a diversity of identities, just as Asians or Africans or Latinxs aren't just masculine men or feminine women. So your suggestion that "a person in Pakistan" won't care about that is kinda belittling.
Third season: Emily in Berlin (someone else's idea, but I'm all for it, it would be awesome to see the stereotypes about Germany) Season 4: Emily in prison in Germany, because she did a boo boo trying to wear a certain symbol Germans don't like being reminded of and which is illegal to display in public 🤣
Season 5: Netflix retcons the whole thing and it turns out to have all been a fever dream on the part of Emily’s boss... who then it turns out is not pregnant and we can see a season about HER life in Paris and how it’s like to have an actual qualified person do that job 😶☕️

You know the sad thing is, is that Madeline; a children's cartoon show that takes place in france in the *1920's* had more diversity in it than the entire first season of Emily in Paris 😑
Hey if you watch the show babar apparently that show takes place somewhere in France( I think) and France is treated more seriously in that show then this show ever treats it.
I'm from Spain so Emily's attitude of "y'all need the American perspective" felt extremely entitled to me. Everyone, no matter where they live, has been fed American entertainment more than entertainment from any other foreign country, sometimes more than their own country's. And the way they played it off as if the US is more "progressive" than France, was pretty hilarious.
I feel ya there man. My home country (The Philippines) is obssed with American Media, to the point that a lot of local movies and music gets ignored unless you are really into it. Don't even get me started on Korean entertainment taking over as well.
@@lorenzolyleabadia1669 In France, there is a law to promote french music. Radios must play at least 40% of music in french (so french speaking and singing artists, be they from Quebec, France, Belgium or french-speaking African countries) and at least half of those 40% must be less than 6 months old to help younger artists compete in ad-based environments with big american dollars that pay for their air-time.
@@k.v.7681 Oh wow. I wish my country did that. We kind of had a bill proposing that local music should played at least four times in local radio program but it wasn't enough for the masses to get interested. We have another problem, mainly from the local music and movie scene. Merely focusing on replicating western blocbusters or covering cliche topics that revolves around heartbreak or hopless romantic tropes. This is what the mainstream looks like over here. Therefore, you could just imagine on how independent movie makers or musicians have it rough for creating something outside the mainstream's interest. Mostly ignored, no matter how great the art is. Anyway, what I am saying is. Any local art that gives food for thought or reflects on how cruel or systematically broken my country, is largely ignored due how the western media is heavily promoted over here. Local art = garbage or cheap version of Western media or art. Sadly. Even though we have a lot of talented independent artist promoting topics that matters.
@@lorenzolyleabadia1669 That's real sad, man. Sucks. It mainly feels like "fresh air" after getting used to everything being American or British. But I don't know how that's being experienced in your country.
As an Australian, we get so much American media shoved down our throats. Streaming platforms like Netflix and social media have only made it worse. The only films that have been filmed here recently are because our v*rus situation has been better. I don't hate the US or anything, but it's just too much sometimes. I feel like the rest of the world has to learn so much about the US through the media while they remain ignorant. It's the same with music. An artist might get considerable recognition locally, but there's an air that they 'haven't really made it' unless they move to LA. Especially in this day and age, you shouldn't have to move anywhere to have success. I guess the only thing we can do is support local media and musicians😕
I think the show was nominated because it was so popular, even though it is beyond cheesy. The (majority young, white) people spoke.... The Golden Globes wants people to actually watch them, so if a popular show in nominated even though it isn't that good, they're guaranteed more viewers.
@@girlisprettymuch No they meant Sia's vanity project movie Music which features a non-autistic actress doing incredibly offensive caricatures of autistic people. It was also nominated for two golden globes, including Best Musical or Comedy
At this point, I don't even know how they are going to handle their second season. Either they use it as a soft reboot and cross fingers that people forgive them for the first, or they double down on the first and it ends up being the next 13 Reasons Why. Netflix is turning into a more problematic version of The CW.
They're desperate for IP... They lost Friends and The Office, Stranger Things has 2 seasons to go, they lost their Marvel shows, their romcoms are all finishing their trilogies, and on top of all that, other streaming services are starting to overshadow them, mainly Disney+ and Amazon Prime. The whole premise could be funny, satirical, and insightful as we follow Emily's growth from a cocky, know-all, fish-out-of-water, young American into a mature, socially adaptable, properly-confident young woman. Gentle digs at the follies of American and French cultures, similarities and differences learned and celebrated, and so many other potential storylines.
I’m a grad student and rarely watch things that can’t be played in the corner of a computer monitor these days, but I'd totally watch that. Why can’t we have nice things anymore?
They should have given her a similar character development as Poppy from Wild Child. Sure, it is a cliche but it would be better than the show in its current state
Your ideas sound boring as hell to me! Produce a show like that and it would pulled of air after a few episodes because of low viewing figures. Emily is marvellous escapism. It's not designed to be "authentic" . For example, they play a lot of French pop songs in the background but surely the French prefer American/UK pop music OR their take on that dreadfully tasteless "AMERICAN" rap music.
I assume they are rebooting it because people watch it so they can shit on it. Then make TH-cam videos that creates more attention. I also assume Netflix doesn’t care why people watch as long as they watch. That is probably why Emily in Paris got renew because people are going to watch so they can shit on it. Which is fine.
Why are people complaining about Netflix renewing shitty shows when the real question is WHY are so MANY watching them?? like come on Netflix is just another business they don't care to police the shows, corporations just care about the money this isn't a new thing. (ofc they are responsible for spreading/inciting ignorance and racism with such shows, but the onus is on us to get them to stop with actual action. Not watching shit shows is a start.)
Netflix is very specific with what it renews as well. Even with moderate viewership it won’t always renew and cult followings dont factor in either. It’s why shit like Emily in Paris, 13 Reasons why, and Big Mouth get renewed, hate watching.
Yea ok, the backlash for Cuties was beyond palpable and they didn’t budge. Seems to me that they are beyond not caring to “police the shows” and are actually a bit sh!t; especially with them now attempting to “crackdown” on people sharing accounts with family during a pandemic where many are strapped for cash; as if Netflix is hard up for money. 🙃

If it was a guy accidentally sleeping with an underaged girl, it would never be seen as a quirky joke. People would be outraged. You wouldn't be able to put it in a show and still want the audience to root for the guy in the end getting together with his real love interest. It's sickening and wrong!
I don’t necessarily disagree that there is a gendered double standard in how people reacted to this, but I can actually think of a few instances in tv/movies where a man accidentally (or not accidentally) sleeping with an underaged girl is treated as a quirky joke. For example in The Office, Andy is shown to unwittingly be in a relationship with a teenager in high school. There’s also Mean Girls where that coach is shown sleeping with the female students. And, while it isn’t treated as a joke, there are countless examples of underaged girls being in romanticized sexual relationships with their adult male teachers in teen dramas. I think that that romanticization trivializes the abuse going on at least as much as treating it like a joke, and it is unfortunately very common. It’s messed up all around. I just wish people would recognize it as problematic regardless of the genders involved.
@@tatertots43 I do think there is a difference, because in Mean Girls for example the teacher is called out for it. It is not treated as totally normal and not weird at all by everyone around him. If I remember correctly it is described as kind of gross and inappropriate. The office I have only seen the British one, so I don’t really know what your referring to, but by the vibe of the show I can only imagine, that it would also be portrayed as a bad thing, that’s only “funny” because it happened accidentally. In regard to romanticising relationships between students and teachers I cannot think of any movie or series, where that happens and it’s not portrayed as unethical and there’s mostly at least one character who thinks the teacher is awful for it. Of course that doesn’t make it ok and I don’t like it either. I just think that with Emily in Paris it is way more extreme since no one is even bothered by the event. Emily is the only one who feels embarrassed by the incident and that only for a couple of minutes. Everyone else around her - even the parents and siblings of the boy - think it’s actually great and absolutely hilarious that they had sex. It’s just not really portrayed as a bad thing at all. Maybe I just don’t know but I know of no other scene in modern cinema where underaged female sex is this trivialised like this with no one calling it out within the movie or series. Also mostly it’s either not the main character or not the “good” guy who sleeps with underaged people. It’s not the guy the shows want you to relate to and like. Emily is the one you’re supposed to like watching the show regardless that she had sex with an underaged boy. Her doing that and the nonchalant way she treats it are not even portrayed as a dark side of her character which she needs to work on. She’s just absolute great and likeable regardless. That’s really gross to me and I cannot think of any other series where that would be the case.
@@katringabrielle4672 I think in Emily in Paris they just think it is how people react to it because their is no age of consent. So I see the reactions of the people, more as a misunderstanding of how real French people would react, than a gender thing. But it's true they have a thing for romanticizing that kind of relation in the show and that people would not be ok with it if it comes from a man. Like in episode 1, when the woman that was supposed to go in the first place instead of Emily, says that she was excited because French boys are into older women. If the gender were reversed, it would have never been allowed in the script.

Everyone in America was from Britain. And why is it that the USA was the one to implement those ideas before Britain? And man, I'm talking about what the USA was founded on. Is what the USA doing any worse than what other countries are doing? As for Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they were given ample warning to leave via leaflets for months before the bombings. They were targeted because of their significant military complexes. No country is perfect. It's just the USA is the best there is currently.
@@blobjorn3248 I'll help you read my message since you seem to have difficulties doing that properly, or you're misreading what I wrote intentionally because you're ashamed that the US was built on slavery? You should own it up instead of being in denial. Please read what I actually wrote: "Ha ha yeah sure, *who industrialized slavery like no other nation in the history of mankind* before? Yep, the US of A. The overwhelming majority of the Founding Fathers were slave-owners. That's a really good start." Industrializing slavery is something the US of A created, taking more than 10 millions of Africans off their continent to the colonies. You can try to whine that the US did not invented slavery, the US still invented *mass* industrialized slavery. - "We got rid of slavery" hahaha what a good joke - the US was among the last developed country to ban slavery, only after having an entire civil war about it, with the South being so attached to slavery they were ready to die to maintain it. Even today there is a strong support in the South for a second round (The South Will Rise Again) to establish slavery again. Another hilarious US exception: racial segregation. While the rest of the developed world had already established legal equality for all for more than a century, the US still maintained an incredibly backward segregationist system in the South until the late 1960s. It's just incredible how the US is always lagging behind so badly when it comes to human rights and liberties. "Everyone in America was from Britain. And why is it that the USA was the one to implement those ideas before Britain?" Ha ha are you that ignorant? America was founded by people from all over Europe, not just Britain. And sorry buddy but no, these ideas were implemented in Britain first, a whole freaking century earlier. Once again, the US arrived late to the party and simply copied over what the Enlightment europeans (most notably british and french philosophers) had created before them. - "And man, I'm talking about what the USA was founded on" The US was founded on mass slavery and slaughtering the natives, with only some fancy european Enlightment lip service sprinkled on it to legitimize it afterward. It took a whole century for the US to finally outlaw slavery, then _another_ century to outlaw racial segregation. The national myth built around the "Founding Fathers" is a myth, it's cool for museums but it's not the historical reality. "Is what the USA doing any worse than what other countries are doing?"" Yes, it is particularly worse. Even today, unlike other developed countries, the US have: - failed to provide affordable healthcare for its population - failed to provide affordable tertiary education for its population - failed to provide safety from firearms violence - failed to curtail the prison-industrial complex that imprison thousands of people for the smallest offenses to turn them into free labors, reinstating slavery but with more steps - failed to curtail the military-industrial complex influence on foreign policy, that pushes for more and longer wars abroad to massively increase their profits (cf. War in Irak, cost the US taxpayers trillions of dollars, killed hundreds of thousands of irakis and gave birth to ISIS) - failed to curtail the agro-industrial complex, that induces obesity and over-consumption in the US population (huge impact on the public health) - failed to curtail the pharmaceutical-industrial complex, that organized the opioid crisis to profit from the addicts, killing around 500,000 americans through overdoses and permanently ruining the lives of millions of others - failed to sign and enact treaties against war crimes, tortures, death penalty - failed to sign and enact treaties against the use of heinous weapons, from landmines, cluster bombs to chemical weapons like White Phosphorus or Depleted Uranium (some area of Irak are heavily contaminated) - failed to arrest, let alone imprison its own war criminals (who deliberately assassinated civilians), preferring to parade them as heroes and publicly cover them in medals - "As for Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they were given ample warning to leave via leaflets for months before the bombings. They were targeted because of their significant military complexes. " Ha I see historical revisionism goes hand in hand with exceptionalism :) This claim has been debunked for years but it's always great to see it pop up again with american nationalists. The leaflets dropped over Japan never warned of any nuclear strike, they only mentioned the regular firebombing that has been going on for months before the leaflets were dropped. Hiroshima was never warned of any attack, not even in leaflets dropped over other cities, specifically by the US military to avoid any intercept mission of the nuclear-bomb carrying bombers. That's why they could go over the city, drop the bomb and fly back without any escort, without ever meeting a single japanese plane (despite the japanese army keeping thousands of them ready for the defense of the main island). The population is OTHER cities had been warned of firebombing attacks before and had left the cities on foot, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were NOT warned on purpose to maximize the casualties done by the nuclear bombs, to scare the population into rebelling against the imperial regime. It's all documented in US archives, it was a terror bombing plan from start to finish. Also, neither of these cities had a significant military presence, especially not in the center where the bombs were dropped. The regular bombing campaigns were already taking care of the military targets (factories, bases and logistical hubs), the nuclear bombing was deliberately chosen as a terror strike against the civilian population. That's why it terrified the other nations and none actually used their nuclear weapons yet: not even Pakistan against India, not even Soviet Russia against its enemies, not even China against Vietnam or South Korea. The horror of the two american nuclear strikes on civilians was so awful that even dictators and authoritarian regime were disgusted. - "No country is perfect. It's just the USA is the best there is currently. " That your nationalistic delusion. Reality is that the US is only number one in terms of economic and military power. In terms of humanity, morality, justice, ethics, it's at the bottom third of the developed countries at best. If you're looking at the top 10 country, you can cite Northern Europe, Canada and the likes, not the US.
This is exactly what happened with THE TOURIST and BURLESQUE in 2010. Two badly reviewed box office bombs that got Best Picture nominations at the Globes, after which it was discovered that the studio, Sony, had treated HPFA voters "by flying them to Las Vegas, putting them up in luxury hotels, covering all meals, and even setting up a nice, intimate private concert with none other than Cher herself." There was a big controversy, no consequences and then everyone just...forgot. And for some reason Hollywood continued to take the Globes seriously the next year and so forth. So I'm dubious anything will change this year either.
The tourist nomination is what made me realized these awards were rigged. And Ricky Gervais trashed that movie while he hosted, which was slightly worth it
Back then it was forgotten, yes... But with a series of events like the pandemic, the tide is turning of not giving a hoot about celebrities of all kinds
It’s like if the unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt actually tried to take itself seriously and and wasn’t just satirical. This could actually be almost funny if they showed how stupid the main character is lmfao
At this point they're not even trying to pretend that whoever is nominating movies/shows for Golden Globe Awards aren't easily bought under the table... Not only was this show nominated for a Golden Globe, but Sia's movie "Music" was - *which is absolutely Bonkers*
I remember a time when Netflix was the place I turned to to enjoy films and shows that diverged from mainstream media. Indie or niche stories that were not necessary made for mass consumption.
As a big fan of Lily Collins that upsets me so much because I know for sure that she read the script and knew what kind of racist, xenophobic and overall boring show she was getting herself into and still decided to take the role. Really makes me wonder how many other stars that I like would sell themselves out and promote such problematic shit.
@@barry2349 I think some producers do - many actors get themselves listed as "producers" when I think what that really means is that they are buying some creative control. Pretty sure multiple people have said that in interviews.
Between the two kinds of Hollywood Americana tropes, I honestly have a hard time deciding which is worse: the male version of 'American military might is always at least well-intentioned or is needed to save the world', or the female version of 'the world is a bauble that white American young women are entitled to play with'. As far as I'm aware, literally nobody else's cinema have these ideas at all, let alone so frequently that they're cliche.
Most other countries tend to be less patriotic flag waving and more population life oriented. Centering your movies on characters that come from lower-income to middle-class households tends to make for more tame scenarios, prone to reflection rather than distraction. Some other directors have a more artistic approach with an overarching theme to their work. There are some american movies that go into that, but most block-busters (and everything derived from the formula, series included) are made to distract from life as an end all be all. And block busters are the movies that have the dollars to be seen.
As a cinema student i always thought I was weird for not valuing these awards, while everyone else was. I'm glad to know I'm in this because i like creating.
There's one point that's crucial about all this, neither the Hollywood Foreing Press nor The Academy really reward quality content. The sooner we understand that, the sooner we'll realize that those awards are nothing more than Hollywood congratulating themselves for the great job they did, all those awards are a joke.
At this point stuff like the Oscars are nothing but American cultural imperialism. It's rare for any non-American movies or actors to be awarded, which basically sends the message of "see, rest of the world? we are the best at this acting shenanigans and y'all suck". Imagine if the Nobel prizes only awarded Swedish scientists lmao

Sorry for the English language intervention, but I completely agree that it's hard to believe this character's trajectory and so-called success. Even in Disney movies the princesses gave it harder! P.S.: I'm studying French as a 4th language and this is the 1st time I am actually understanding what people write in comments, thanks for this one!

And, lest we forget, Hollywood paedophilia. Wish that made the commentary here as to why the award shows are bombing. The more that’s being exposed via people speaking out and included content within entertainment (as demonstrated in this series “Emily in Paris”), the more people are turning away from the entertainment industry. A multitude of issues with the industry, but the sexual exploitation and abuse of minors should take the top spot.
Gotta love the fact that a mediocre, ignorant and racist show like this has been renewed while Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, admittedly the most briliant, beautiful and creative piece of fantasy since the death of Terry Prattchet, has been cancelled after one season and an Emmy award. Sorry for simping, but seriously, go watch Dark Crystal, it's much more worth your time than whatever this show is.
@Booper Dooper except these days especially with video games it's not uncommon for even the average critic to be bribed or inherently racist, all no of course not but more than enough to sway any poll. Even critics have personal bias, nothing in this world is exactly objective so even when a review is 10/10 it's because of bias no matter how objectively you try to look at it. My point is that either it be bribes or personal biased nothing can be counted as the best of the year especially considering the 100s of thousands of other people that aren't heard
@Booper Dooper but that would well, be inherently expensive across the board, while I think awards like this shouldn't be a thing I'm exactly opposed to improving them but if other countries are involved then it would be more or less a matter of nationalism, the winner would be which ever country has the most people to vote, it wouldn't exactly be surprising if given a choice people would chose a media from their country over foreign, it may be one country but look at how the Oscars treat any media out of the us
@Booper Dooper except being awarded the "best" also tends to increase sales of something, whenever someone sees game of the year or awarded best ___ they tend to pick that one up instead just because of that, many of these movies that are chosen are not usually good which kinda steals the spotlight from much better films, their would also be no point in the awards if people never got results, if you were titled the best at something would you like it to be completely for gone from the entire public, probably not because neconition especially in the movie industry sells
Why is everyone surprised tho? Awards are a marketing tool and nominated films get a lot of exposure all over the world. You see award label "nominee" or "winner" all over the posters and it instantly makes you think that the movie or series is good and you are more likely to watch it. I am actually surprised everyone is surprised about this. They announced second season, everyone talks s**t about the first. Of course they did everything to get nominated to get everyone talk about the series and watch it. It is all a good old promo.

Here there is , a film where the main caracter is your steriotipical preteincious america, almost feeling like a strawman most non-americans would write whne they think about an american person. The film's writers are mostly white, It's racist while trying to avoid the label, and just now was got caught in a scandal that highlights the worst of american media. I for one would normaly take any excuse to mock america, but I actually am finding harder than usual to do it here. Also, I noticed a patern of very controversial films being made all over the world and highlighting the worst of the country where it was made. First it was "Cuties", then the Mulan remake, and now americans are the ones who triped. Ricky Gervais’ golden globes speeches were the first time that everything was put in perspective for me and I haven’t taken the awards seriously ever since.

I agree, Philippine was the only good thing in the series. It's not often you see a middle aged woman dressed so elegant, sexy and with a strong personality :)
I never supported award shows to begin with. For a start, I'm not American and I grew up with non American parents who barely gave two craps about American elitist opinions to begin with and therefore didn't bother watching either. So I don't know where I would even watch it and I stopped caring before I even started.
I don't think Lily Collins should keep getting a pass. She defends this horrible show at every turn, and she's a producer to boot. She's part of the problem.
They creators of emily in paris flew out a bunch of golden globe nominators to the set / meaning they got free flights to paris and got to stay in fancy hotels..... so obvious wow, Michaela Coel deserved better
Lily’s performance here is similar to Rosie in Love, Rosie (bubbly, spontaneous and kinda helpless) but the difference is, Rosie learned things from her life, sacrifices her time for her baby girl, and despite all her imperfections as a teen mom Rosie grows up, while Emily in Paris, she has the privilege to do almost everything and decide to live in her safe bubble instead.
The thing with clichés and stereotypes being applied in movies and series is that they’re only funny to a certain extent. In Emily in Paris however the writers made sure they didn’t miss any of the existing clichés to the point that it sometimes made me cringe. I really want to applaud you for the two videos you made on Emily in Paris, because when I watched the show I wasn’t really aware of the not so subtle racism and ignorance the show displayed. Your videos definitely helped me to look at the show from a different perspective and a more critical angle. So I’m glad that there’s educational channels like yours!

Sucks. Here we have a few known old filmmakers, but because of the previous dictatorship, many in the past fled to other countries to produce their films.
It does really suck how American franchises also start taking over local businesses.
I'm, personally, not as bothered about the rise of Korean entertainment.
Not just Emily and Paris, but the insanely offensive, stupid, and idiotic Music got nominated.
Yummy by Justin B is a good example
I think the show was nominated because it was so popular, even though it is beyond cheesy. The (majority young, white) people spoke.... The Golden Globes wants people to actually watch them, so if a popular show in nominated even though it isn't that good, they're guaranteed more viewers.

Agreed. Great editing and narration. I low key enjoyed watching Emily as an escape from 2020, but so agree it doesn’t deserve this nomination.
If it was a guy accidentally sleeping with an underaged girl, it would never be seen as a quirky joke. People would be outraged. You wouldn't be able to put it in a show and still want the audience to root for the guy in the end getting together with his real love interest. It's sickening and wrong!
That reminds me of a scene in Trainspotting
Shows the hypocrisy of today’s feminism agenda. “A woman can do no wrong” apparently.

"the world has presented, so far" - yeah, the rest of the world have passed dozens of treaties banning war crimes, particularly heinous weapons (from landmines, incendiary bombs to NBC weapons), torture or the death penalty, while the US is still refusing to sign any of this, only deciding to stick to the outdated and limited US Constitution (for US citizens only of course, because other people are subhumans).
Also, so far, which country used nuclear bombs on civilian targets? Oh yeah, only one country in the world. North Korea? Nope. China? Nope. Soviet Russia? Nope. Yup you guessed it, who dropped a nuke on hundreds of thousands of civilians not only once but TWICE? The US of A, the best of all!
Delicious exceptionalism you gave us here, right from the tap.
@@TubeofDestiny It's like you think no other civilization in the history of humanity has had slaves. Did you know there are still slaves today? We got rid of slavery.

As for Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they were given ample warning to leave via leaflets for months before the bombings. They were targeted because of their significant military complexes.

That's a really good start."
Industrializing slavery is something the US of A created, taking more than 10 millions of Africans off their continent to the colonies. You can try to whine that the US did not invented slavery, the US still invented *mass* industrialized slavery.
-
"We got rid of slavery" hahaha what a good joke - the US was among the last developed country to ban slavery, only after having an entire civil war about it, with the South being so attached to slavery they were ready to die to maintain it.
And why is it that the USA was the one to implement those ideas before Britain?"
Ha ha are you that ignorant? America was founded by people from all over Europe, not just Britain.
And sorry buddy but no, these ideas were implemented in Britain first, a whole freaking century earlier. Once again, the US arrived late to the party and simply copied over what the Enlightment europeans (most notably british and french philosophers) had created before them.
-
"And man, I'm talking about what the USA was founded on"
The US was founded on mass slavery and slaughtering the natives, with only some fancy european Enlightment lip service sprinkled on it to legitimize it afterward.
Even today, unlike other developed countries, the US have:
- failed to provide affordable healthcare for its population
- failed to provide affordable tertiary education for its population
- failed to provide safety from firearms violence
- failed to curtail the prison-industrial complex that imprison thousands of people for the smallest offenses to turn them into free labors, reinstating slavery but with more steps
- failed to curtail the military-industrial complex influence on foreign policy, that pushes for more and longer wars abroad to massively increase their profits (cf. War in Irak, cost the US taxpayers trillions of dollars, killed hundreds of thousands of irakis and gave birth to ISIS)
- failed to curtail the agro-industrial complex, that induces obesity and over-consumption in the US population (huge impact on the public health)
- failed to curtail the pharmaceutical-industrial complex, that organized the opioid crisis to profit from the addicts, killing around 500,000 americans through overdoses and permanently ruining the lives of millions of others
- failed to sign and enact treaties against war crimes, tortures, death penalty
- failed to sign and enact treaties against the use of heinous weapons, from landmines, cluster bombs to chemical weapons like White Phosphorus or Depleted Uranium (some area of Irak are heavily contaminated)
- failed to arrest, let alone imprison its own war criminals (who deliberately assassinated civilians), preferring to parade them as heroes and publicly cover them in medals
-
"As for Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they were given ample warning to leave via leaflets for months before the bombings. They were targeted because of their significant military complexes.
"
Ha I see historical revisionism goes hand in hand with exceptionalism :)
This claim has been debunked for years but it's always great to see it pop up again with american nationalists.

"No country is perfect. It's just the USA is the best there is currently.
"
That your nationalistic delusion.

I think award shows would be fine, except they're extremely racist and you can ALWAYS guess whats going to win even if it doesn't deserve the win.
Who actually cares about award shows like golden globes, i don't even fully understand why GG exists

The thing with clichés and stereotypes being applied in movies and series is that they’re only funny to a certain extent. In Emily in Paris however the writers made sure they didn’t miss any of the existing clichés to the point that it sometimes made me cringe.
