That was a good list. Added to what you've already done. A little taste of a fraction of the depth of the band. Dir en grey are impossible to introduce and really get from just a few songs. This is a good start though. The emotion Kyo brings in this one is something I'll forever aspire to reach just 10% of that in my own music. We're the same age, but he's so far ahead of me, I'll never get close, I can't even see him from where I am, and my voice is getting worse as his improves. Amazing person, amazing artist, uncompromising and totally committed to his art, his expression, and his audience. Always giving 120%, living the songs, not just singing them.
This song perfectly closes this set :) I agree with everything Pointlesswasteoftime wrote [except with his choice of name]. Just to give some information about the song here as well - Tousei can be found on their 9th album ARCHE released in 2014. Being the first album after the band's "pause" this is the album where Kyo really explored his higher singing register. This video comes from the second day of ARCHE at NIPPON BUDOKAN [I prefer the first day but both have some of the most astonishing live performances.] I hope your patrion will create another list some day [I would love to see a reaction to one of their more avantgarde tracks like Magayasou, The Blossoming Beelzebub or Yokusou ni Dreambox aruiwa seijuku no rinen to tsumetai ame... ;)] But first I want to say Thank You for this one!! This was really awesome~
I die at "that's it!?" reaction xD. I mean if you want more of this then no way you wouldn't want to check out their boss song Macabre live @ Tabula Rasa, which is three times longer than this one. x3 epicness
Out of all the Beautiful, heavy, crazy songs they have I still think this is my favorite song. You’re right it is a masterpiece. Uroboros-Arche era is absolutely amazing
Absolutely excellent reaction and thank you to the Patreon requester! This live performance of this song is a studio/album killer for me (Although I still listen to the studio version as well), the way Kyo interprets this song, the emotion he pours into it, and the lines he chooses to scream and belt surpases the studio recording in my opinion. Of the three songs you watched I personally rank this one second and bump Kodou (the second song you reacted to) into the top position as I have years of built up connection and emotion to that song, but the live performance of Tousei is my favorite of the three live performances you watched, and I rank Decayed Crow last, I really enjoy the studio/album recording of Decayed Crow, but I don't care for any of the symphonic remixed versions of Dir en grey songs which is what that version is.
Tōusei= Sound of Waves as I have mention before in other videos, Kyo the singer is who writes all the lyrics and decides how to sings the songs. when the band has some very beautiful selections, I would admit, there are some that are not for all and this is coming from a fan of 15 years and older than 40 years, so that tells you everything. I would never recommend you to watch the original video of Obscure, but any live I do. The band has some beautiful selections when shorts, they also have some long ones, like Macabre, the one at Tabula raza
If you like DIR EN GREY, please listen to LUNA SEA as well. Their songs I recommend, "Blue Transparancy" "SHADE" "MECHANICAL DANCE" "Desire" "metamorphosis" LUNA SEA sound has the most dynamism and beauty of all japanese Rock Bands.
