This is a phenomenal deck build adjustment. I truly like the overall build improvements and base line you have established. You defined the purpose and explained the win conditions created@ beautiful #theCommanderCrew
The one thing I think this deck also super needs is a way to tap Kalamax without attacking with it. There will definitely be times when you can't swing in with your commander without it just dying, so I would add Honor-worn Shaku and Smuggler's Copter (Or Sky Skiff as a super budget replacement) in order to get Kalamax tapped.
That's a good point! In the $200 upgrade version I run Cryptolith Rite for that very reason, but having ways to tap Kalamax the turn its cast (assuming no haste) is also important.
looking forward to the mardu deck. I do think Curious Herd is maybe a little bit underrated. sure it is no dockside extortionist but it is seems good enough for this deck. Refuse // cooperate was listed in the article and i play it in my copy-themed deck. i recommend playing it. it is funny how many cards i saw in the article or the video, which i have implemented in my deck
I'm glad each one of them say the intro. So you know who is gonna be talking in the video. Its obvious to some. But I like it. Crim has his own. And seth and tomer.
Honor-Worn Shaku is also one worth putting in. An Artifact that not only generates colorless mana but also allows you to take a Legendary permanent (cough) Kalamax (cough) to untap the artifact to then generate more mana but now Kalamax is tapped to utilize his ability
i like that this video offended everyone who thinks solemn is just an autoinclude, because it very much isn´t also there are 3 cards i would add for sure in a kalamax-deck -survivors encampment -holdout settlement -seedborn muse
@@tomerabramovici32 yes, but if you have a way to tap kalamax that doesnt matter, for example with springleaf drum or smugglers copter or something i personally played with it, and every time i had seedborn it was great, especially with chord of calling it is nice to tutor for rashmi and seedborn
I'm not sure whether to buy this or the jeskai one. So thanks for the video tomer! Edit: The sultai one has a few sweet cards as well, but those are easier to get stand-alone. 2: If people couldn't sac treasures in response to Curious Herd, it would have been so much better :(.
Well, you make them waste them, so it's something.. And players are bound to have some other artifacts as well. Getting 2 Beasts at least is good enough.
you dont have jace's sanctum or commune with lava on the remove and upgrade list. confused the shit out of me at first 🤣🤣now i have a extra card i havent ordered i need to get
@@Big_Dai Mirrors my initial thought process when I played it lol. I hadn't noticed how the copy wouldn't trigger off the sorcery, but then had an aha moment hahaha. Plus who cares about an extra reply xD
I was penny pinching and brainstorm was .80 while opt was .20 . Brainstorm is in the $200 list though, and it's even better there since I've added so many more ways to shuffle your library.
0:50 That wobble is ugly I also don't agree with some of the replacement cards.. specially those that have a completely different effect. Was it tested? Is it balanced? Your last Abzan Legends deck was kind of problematic when tested afterwards.. There's also nothing to tap Kalamax to take advantage of him without sending him to die (like LAND cards that tap creatures for mana of any color). It just feels like taking out "bad" cards for cheaper cards you think are better.
My Kethis deck dominated the last Commander Clash. It's hard to gauge the power level of a deck from just 2 games. I don't see any issues with my swaps. I agree that I missed ways to tap Kalamax. I've added Springleaf Drum, Holdout Settlement and Survivors Encampment in the article upgrades.
@@tomerabramovici32 I was looking for this, thanks! I noticed Jace's Sanctum wasn't on the additions on the website. Also, I think Decoy Gambit might have been listed has a cut erroneously instead of Commune with Lava.

The fact that Kalamax isn't fully tapped at 4:18 has me slightly tilted.
Just like Kalamax?
@@PalPlays That would be the joke, yes. :)
That 45 degree turn is the original way tapping was meant to be used. In fact, the "T" in the oldest cards actually stands for "tilt."

Don't forget Survivors' Encampment

"Toner"
My printer's running a little low...
I fixed it so haha your comment makes no sense
I was planning on making a copy storm based deck with Kalamax at the helm.
Thanks Tomer!
Narset's reversal the best fork in commander?? Reiterate would like to talk to you.
I love Kalamax and built an "EPIC" deck around it.
Why are some of the letters in 2:20 so distorted? I can't come up with a good explanation.
Maybe something with compression and decompression of the card images?
A scanned card image that is then zoomed can have some inaccuracies from the scanner
How about convoke spells? Tapping creatures for mana, there's an enchantment for this
Riku of two reflections can make a creature copy and the spells you use for cheap costs
Honor-Worn Shaku is also one worth putting in. An Artifact that not only generates colorless mana but also allows you to take a Legendary permanent (cough) Kalamax (cough) to untap the artifact to then generate more mana but now Kalamax is tapped to utilize his ability
I'm actually gonna try this deck with Mirrorwing dragon and Precursor Golem :) with some instant speed shenanigans!
I like the idea of casting claustrophobia on Kalamax then playing a weird temur control. Or using vehicles to tap Kalamax on demand.
Alongside vehicles, Springleaf Drum is probably the best way to tap Kalamax the turn it enters the battlefield, because it's also ramp.
@@sofer2230 I forgot about Springleaf Drum! That's an excellent suggestion, thank you! I'll add it to the article

Think Double Vision is an auto include?
Can we get a list of just the $20 adds?

what does springleaf drum replace?
you dont have jace's sanctum or commune with lava on the remove and upgrade list. confused the shit out of me at first 🤣🤣now i have a extra card i havent ordered i need to get
Is there a reason not to replace swarm intelligence with thousand year storm? Cost one less with more chances to copy.
Because of the budget
nacho cheese I see that for the $20 budget but should be fine for the $200?
@@Josh-mk7ok this is the 20$ not the 200$
How do you feel about Chandras Ignition? You can cast it, hold priority, fork it, and with kalamax tapped that's game!
Since it's a sorcery it doesn't trigger the copy!
@@MonsterCC Are you replying to yourself?? Why not delete your initial comment since it's useless?

Is it worth to trade 2 2011 commanders (near mint) for 3 2020 commanders (new)?

No
You can tell he is Canadian based on the way he pronounces 'lava'
