Thanks for giving me something to watch while doing the evening’s dishes. Also, thanks for loving the Winnipeg RCAF alternate. I have a small collection, and I am happy to have this Jet’s alt in my roster. That said, the SJ Cali-Fin alt baffles me. I see the Tampa alt and SJ alt as the exact same thing with the same criticisms.
The execution is similar, but the components are different. They're both shoulder patches promoted, but while the shark fin is an easily identifiable symbol that is different from the primary logo, the Lightning is their usual bolt in a roundel. Roundels are done to death, so if you're going to do them, it better be good, and "hockey club" does not help their case. Black is not an uncommon third for either team, but seeing just the fin on a black jersey adds to the story told - you see a fin, you don't see the rest of the shark, but it's under there, in the darkness...Lightning meanwhile is bright flashes. Finally, and most importantly, the ripple stripes. They're both bland jerseys, black with a triple stripe, very standard. But the Sharks put a twist on that design that is new, unique, visually appealing, and clever. Shark fin sticking out of the dark water, ripples across the surface...the "night swim" idea I talked about - but none of that story has to be told to us. It's not marketspeak advertising, we get those ideas just by looking at the clues and piecing it together. The lightning have no such underlying theme, no story is told there. Victory stripes, cool, but there's nothing special done with them, it needs explaining (and other commentors have gotten it wrong, which is also telling). That's a very long way to say that San Jose has a better logo and a unique twist that makes theirs thematic, and Tampa's...isn't.
I personally love the flyers now look, other than the single color numbers. The old ones had that stipe that was so thin that the numbers had to be colored the same as the jersey, and it looked even cheaper in my opinion. I also much prefer that Rangers logo to the diagonal lettering on their home and roads. Other than that, I agree with pretty much everything else. Great video!
I always rank the Bruins highly but there's a dropoff between those with the shoulder yoke and those without. My first exposure to the Bruins was in '69 with the shoulder yoke version and I thought they were so badass but when they dropped the yoke in the late 70's, they looked less intimidating.
Despite the lack of change over the decades, I still like the Flyers and Red Wings jerseys. I sure don't want them to make wholesale changes a la the Canucks, Sabres or Capitals. However, having that black stripe at the bottom of the Flyers jersey has always bothered me because it creates no contrast with the pants and from a distance makes the jersey look shorter
I thought the sleeves on the lightning jersey were different colors to reflect the jerseys they were wearing when they won each of the 3 cups (like inside the collar)
Apparently the sleeves of the Rangers third are inspired by the old school TV network transitions during games that showed NY traffic in fast forward. It's pretty sick but it's ruined by the shield being the crest. I get they wanted the shield on the front for something more different and the primegreen "popping" of the font is nice, but that shield has always been really boring to me. Lady Liberty would have been miles better even if tweaked a bit.
Thanks for the forecast! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
As both a Flyers fan and a Flyers Jersey collector (attempting to collect one of every jersey in our system), I couldn't agree more. When it was announced that they are going with that kind of jersey I was so let down. They claim it was a nod to the original jerseys from the 60s-70s. They have really missed the mark with these. There are some very nice ones that were created through time my favorite being the anniversary gold jersey, the reverse retro 1.0, and the black jersey all of them. I think they really struck out with these especially the numbering system in today's generation doesn't work. Especially when most teams have tri-color tackle twill colors. I do like the last winter classic look but they need to just give up for a few years until they get creative again!!
I was born in 98 so seeing the Whalers jersey once a season i think it cool but I get the point for people who don't like seeing the Whaler jersey worn. As for the Wild North Stars uniforms I want the Wild switch to those full time it better color scheme.
There's a lot of conflicting info because New York City's flag is also blue and orange, and it's all based on the traditional Dutch colors...either way, I've seen the Long Island secessionist flag more than I've ever seen Nassau County's flag
Whalers jersey is 'S' tier - that jersey is amazing!! And the Rangers jersey is definitely a solid 'B' for me, I like that one a lot more than the Ducks (a C at best) and Lightning (that's ok - just a bit 'meh' - a lot like their home and road jerseys are).

@ Les canadiens were for the french (canadiens français was how they were called) and the Maroons was the rival english team. It’s easy to understand how Les Canadiens cannot wear a Marroons jersey. As for the ownership argument, the Maroons had to pay a fee to their neighbours, the Montréal Canadiens, to join the league. Futhermore, the president of the Maroons franchise was the founder of the Montréal Wanderers, the Canadiens ex-rivals. Also the Montréal Canadiens Owner sold half of his territorial rights to let the Maroons play in up town Montréal first business reason (lucrative rivalry).
Yes, but all of the owners of both teams were part of the Canadian Arena Company and when the Depression hit, they basically decided to keep the older sibling because they couldn't feed both. Idk, I feel like one day of dress up as a nod to their dead brother wouldn't be too awful. It's like when the Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore, the lone vote against the move was Art Rooney and the Steelers wore black armbands for their rival. It would have made it much more interesting.
It sickens me to see the Whalers jersey in North Carolina. Breaks my heart. Shame on them. Ny Islanders are in Nassau County Long Island. The Rangers jersey is weak
That’s the Leafs’ Sundin era font!!
Bingo! Goofy and terrible for that team, but a lovely font overall

I was expecting a little hate on the Rangers 3rd but I didn’t expect the Wild to be called out like that.🔥
We're here for the hottest of takes lol
That intro!😂

i made a concept years ago for a winnipeg outdoor game for that jersey since the logo is based off the rcaf, need to get one myself.
I thought the sleeves on the lightning jersey were different colors to reflect the jerseys they were wearing when they won each of the 3 cups (like inside the collar)
They never won the Cup in gray. They've never had a gray uniform

Dig the new intro boys!

Someone who truly gets it

The shark fin logo is cool but I'd rather have it on a teal jersey. Enough with the black already.
think thats the old leafs font
Shid how much would it cost to get john to set one of those bad boys over here in Aus??
Who was wearing 77 in that jersey…and also an assistant captain?

Thanks for educating about ex’s John. Lol
Les Canadiens can’t wear a Marrons jersey, they were rivals.
But like 80 years ago, and they were owned by the same company

my point is : they are not brothers but rivals. In a political way, it is even worse. But hey, I am in Montréal, so it’s the two cents of a local fan.
I hate that sharks jersey lol
That rangers logo is too big looks goofy
It sickens me to see the Whalers jersey in North Carolina. Breaks my heart. Shame on them. Ny Islanders are in Nassau County Long Island. The Rangers jersey is weak
st pats jersey is terrible, they took an established throwback and put a giant cartoon logo on it.
