  • I decided that it was time to improve the interior of Ed and a new carpet was top of my list.
    Not a difficult job and for not a lot of money it transforms the interior

      Thanks Andy, i am really enjoying all the little finishing touches. I'm trying to get as much done as possible while the weather permits, then its back to Eleanor

    DB... love seeing the Texas sign on your garage wall all the over there in Scotland!!!! What a pleasure and honor to have met you... as for the carpet, well done and it looks great good tip on using the old carpet as a template to cut the new. I was wondering why I was keeping my old carpet.... now I know

    Good job DB and what a difference. I'd have just undone the 2 7/16 bolts on the seats and left the brackets in place :)

    • @DBMiniDIY

      Cheers, there was method in my madness there. Half the bolts to undo or skinning my knuckles on the brackets and it mage it easier when lying on the cross member to reach under the dash area

    So the carpet is mainly flat stuff cut to fit with the heel pads attached? there's no heat molded curves or such? just wondered if a guy was fiscally challenged he could make a carpet up out of some low pile generic carpet. congrats on the 2000+ subs

    • @DBMiniDIY
      @DBMiniDIY  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      2000 subs, i know, who'd of thought, cheers. It had moulded slits cut at the front of the tunnel to get a better fit but a man of you talents could make a carpet no problem

    Looks great DB.. can I ask did you used adhesive between the black carpet & underlayer? Thanks!

    • @DBMiniDIY
      @DBMiniDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks, it was such a transformation. Yes i used the contact adhesive to stick the carpet to the underlayer

    Hi. What kind of glue did you use?

      Just standard contact adhesive.

      @@DBMiniDIY thx. I'm asking because I need to do exactly the same with my MINI. Just order new floor and isolation but I'm wondering what kind of glue should I use for that. Your movie was very helpful understanding how to replace the floor. Thanks for that. I will also need to replace the roof lining. Do you know how to do it?

    That's looking really nice, silly question but why do you not carpet the whole cross member.

    • @DBMiniDIY
      @DBMiniDIY  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They weren't carpeted as standard, the earlier models anyway and the kit i bought only came with what you see. I do prefer the look of the bare cross member to one with a carpet
