Hi Grant, thanks for your useful video. I have a couple of suggestions to add: I often work from home so the Tikom tends to work while I am at home. I let it clean one room at a time by following the map on my cell phone. Once a room is cleaned, I open the door, let the Tikom into the next room and close the door behind it. That way it doesn't have to start from the beginning if it gets stuck. Another suggestion is to put the magnetic strip under the wall-mounted toilet. The Tikom used to get stuck under the toilet, but now it recognises the magnetic tape although the tape is not floor-mounted. All the best.
Thanks for the input! I usually have mine run for an hour before I get up in the morning, that way if it gets stuck I can take care of it while I'm getting ready for the day.
What do you mean by letting it into the next room? Do you use manual controls or just wait for it to randomly change rooms? I have a slightly too high gap between some of my rooms and when the robot tries to climb them, it only manages some times. Regardless of success, this always messes up the mapping features, as it seems to trick the robot into making it think it's still walking, while in fact it's just standing there... And this warps the map 🤔
@ireallyamayuube keep the door closed till your ready to let it onto the next room, then keep the door(s) closed so it doesn't try to go into other rooms. Unfortunately with this model the map doesn't mean anything anyway

I bought the Tikom G8000 as well. The vacuum works great but I cannot get the mop function to work. I've installed and reinstalled the mopping module but it just doesn't work. Any advice?
If you are able to get it for about $100, get it, the suction is ok, but very often it is loosing itself and struggles hard. Just get a L9000 model it has a laser radar, so you don’t need the magnetic tape, you just set up the zones in the app after it builds a map
Nice video. Just got mine and this video was helpful to understand how to get started. However, now I want to try the mop feature and can't find a video explaining that setup process. Please fill that gap to save others from having to read the manual. 😉
You do an amazing job. Can you put the magnetic strip up under the cabinet on the back side of the catching board to prevent the vacuum from catching. That way the tape would not show on the floor.
Hi! Do you always keep the mop cloth on it even if you’re just wanting a sweep? I’m not sure if it does, but I wouldn’t want it to unnecessarily get dirty if I’m just wanting to vacuum! Thanks
I have an open concept home. I would like my Tikom to just do my kitchen area one day and my living area the next day. I know how to schedule those, but how can I tell it which areas to clean?!
This one does not offer that. You'll have to go for something with a higher budget. Unless you want to use that black magnetic strip to separate your room.

I don't use the mop function. I Usually run it at night, so I don't Usually hear it. When it goes back to the charger it's done or the battery is low. I'm pretty sure there is a voice that says "cleaning complete" or "battery low". You can also look at the most recent cleaning history in the app to see where it's cleaned.

Can you use it without connecting it to the Wi-Fi at all? Simply through the remote controller? (I'm tired of even more devices that need to be connected to my Wi-Fi network. I like electronics to be stand-alone.)
lol I just saw this after your first comment. Yeah, no problems with it finding the docking station. It will usually just drive around until it can get line of sight with the docking station.
Unfortunately, with this product there is no actual control over the map. Each time it goes out it creates a new map of where it has been, but it doesn't actually have any way to control the map through the app.
I Grant, might I assume that the Roboter G8000 pro without any app and remote control only functioning? It's for my 88 old mother with no smartphone and no Pet or dogs or cats. Do you have any other suggestion if not possible? Thank you for review
This would be perfect for that! My wife doesn't use the app either. You DO NOT need the app. The only real benefit of the app is that you can schedule automatic cleaning, and find it if it gets stuck somewhere and you can't find it.
Hello. I have a problem with completly new vacuum cleaner Tikom g8000 pro. I downloaded the app, added the sucker, everything is fine so far. The problem is that the cleaner is unresponsive. When I press ON on the phone/app, the vacuum cleaner starts but only moves back 2 cm and turns off. But when I press ON on cleaner is unresponsive. Completely unresponsive. I have to put it back on the charging station again and repeat the process. How can I fix the problem, because my wife and I have been struggling with this problem for 3 hours and cant solve the problem. Thank you Zoran
We just received the vacuum mop last week and yesterday it quit talking. This is the second one that we have and the other one works fine. Any ideas why?
the "empty space" requirement isn't to strict. it's mostly just to make it easy for the vacuum to find the docking station again once it's charged. Otherewise it jut wanders around for a bit till it finds it. Mine is in a corner between table & chairs and a wall.
Is it still possible to manually charge it? Mine died while cleaning and now it won’t stay on long enough to find it’s “home” just received the vacuum two days ago on Christmas.

@grantbutler mine keeps on giving an error message that front number is stuck. I have tried everything . There is nothing stuck and the number is loose and movable. It doesn't even have to hit anything and it says front number stuck. Any suggestions?

Hey Grant, is it normal that the battery completely drains out between uses (1x/ week), even if completely charged after each use? I've used my vacuum only twice so far, and it's completely drained out each time I want to use it again (so I again need to wait until it's again fully charged). It's already past the return date 😭
Mine runs for about an hour before the battery is dead. That's just enough to do one floor at my home. It typically will go until the battery dies or you tell it to return home. Does that answer your question?

A week later, when I wanted to use it again, the battery had just completely drained out by itself (even though the whole time in the middle it's just been sitting on it's dock doing nothing) 🥲 So basically now I'm charging it all over again (which easily takes several hours) before I can use it now 🙈

@tushna9528 what is B/W? Power use leads into my next idea. I wonder if because you only use it ones a week, once it's charged it's just sits in stand-by slowly draining the battery until it is told to start again. I run mine every day.
If your wifi is like most your 5ghz and 2.4 ghz networks are broadcast as one. In that case you'll need to separate your networks because it can only connect to 2.4 ghz networks

Hey, I noticed you said it didn’t have a feature to note the difference between mopping and vacuuming. I read that it will automatically turn off mopping once it detects carpet. Have you noticed this? Or any other updates regarding this feature?
Is it possible to add the device on the Tuya app with a 5GHz wifi network? I bought the vacuum, but an unable to add it to the app, likely due to fact that my wifi network is 5GHz 😭
I think you're correct. I'm pretty sure it only works on the 2.4ghz networks. however. Aside from scheduling and mop water flow control, there's not much else you can do with it that you can't do with the remote.
Yes. Only because it doesn't actually know where it is it just goes until it's reached all edges of an area so myself I will just take mine upstairs and have it run and it'll cover everything
Have you figured out how to save the map, that it creates while vacuuming? I still dont know how to Save the map of each room and then let them Go to the different rooms
I wouldn't like to add the magnetic tape to my floors.. is there a 1-button press that will clean/map the home automatically without intervention? For example, I've seen reviews on the similarly-priced Roborock E20 and it has sensors/bumpers that allow it to slow down and bump objects while mapping for next time! Alternatively, it would be nice if I could draw the map on the app and direct which areas to clean.
This does not offer mapping options to tell it where to go & not to go. It will just always go anywhere that it can unless you block off restricted areas with the magnetic tape

I have a townhouse and second level is dining/kitchen with tile and then living room with carpet, wondering if you could maybe do 2 separate programs in same night to accomplish that? Ok, but did you watch the video? Specifically the large section starting at 8:13. You add water and attach the Mop. You can't turn it off you can only turn it to low medium & high or remove the mop pad & empty the resvoir.
Y'all, spend an extra $100 and get a better model. This ain't it. There's nothing "smart" about how the tikom cleans. It has a predetermined number of movements and does not remember where it's already cleaned. So, it's a diceroll if it can cover your whole home in one charge. It does not have recharge and resume, so it will not record any location info if it fails to clean a room and it will not return to any areas it missed. It's all just randomized.
The predetermined movements with no location based moves is the nail in the coffin. Depending on your furniture and home layout, the robot will not be able to access certain parts of your home, and can get into a loop where it is unable to escape a certain part, even when it is time to return to the charging station. For example, I have one, 5-wheeled lazy boy office chair in my office, and the legs are too complex for the tikom to understand, so it ends up just going back and forth around it, and becomes trapped in the room. I am currently watching this pathetic piece of machinery trying to return to it's charging station while it runs out of battery. There are literally no obstructions to the doorway leading out into the living room where it's base is. It just doesn't know where it's base is and is relying on it's random movements to get it there. It's a diceroll for it to successfully return home. I don't see a point in having a robot vac if you have to constantly monitor it and make sure it cleans by manually controlling it's movement. This has been more time consuming than just vacuuming myself. This is the most disappointing purchase I've had in years. Maybe if you live in a studio space of 450 sq ft, this would work. I am in 1100 sq ft and it just doesn't work. I am replacing this with a Roomba right away.
As expected, the robot failed to reach it's charging station after about 40 mins of struggling around. The robot would get near to the doorway leading to it's charging station, and then turn around. This was the first time the robot attempted a return to home. I have only had the model for one day and it has been the biggest waste of time. Horribly designed. Grant Butler did a good review of the features which was helpful, but all of the other reviewers did not warn of the poor design. The world could use a lot less reviewers who open the product, feel happy, and immediately post 5 star reviews based on their feelings alone, without any consideration to the quality of the product. Anyone who actually recommends this product lives in a very small home, doesn't understand what people are looking to buy, or just lying.
"Detecting" are you talking about the whole revisor? It might not be inserted all the way. However, if you are talking about the fabric part; I don't think there are sensors on this device to be able to detect if its there or not.

@lifeasicit1784 it will always sweep, or you can Sweep & Mop you can have sweep only, but not Mop only.

Tikom G8000 Pro maping. you can't really set it up, it more just sorta shows you the area it cleaned

Power use leads into my next idea. I wonder if because you only use it ones a week, once it's charged it's just sits in stand-by slowly draining the battery until it is told to start again. I run mine every day.

If your wifi is like most your 5ghz and 2.4 ghz networks are broadcast as one. In that case you'll need to separate your networks because it can only connect to 2.4 ghz networks

Hey, I noticed you said it didn’t have a feature to note the difference between mopping and vacuuming. I read that it will automatically turn off mopping once it detects carpet. Have you noticed this? Or any other updates regarding this feature?
I have not seen it be smart enough to turn on and off for carpet. I've seen other devices do it, not this one.

What exactly is spot cleaning? There's no real map feature on this model so what is the point?
You move it to the spot that needs to be cleaned, and it will clean a 2-3ft circle from where it starts.

Is it possible to add the device on the Tuya app with a 5GHz wifi network? I bought the vacuum, but an unable to add it to the app, likely due to fact that my wifi network is 5GHz 😭
I think you're correct. I'm pretty sure it only works on the 2.4ghz networks. however. Aside from scheduling and mop water flow control, there's not much else you can do with it that you can't do with the remote.
Is this useful for multiple floors?
Yes. Only because it doesn't actually know where it is it just goes until it's reached all edges of an area so myself I will just take mine upstairs and have it run and it'll cover everything

Could you explain the Water Control option Low versus High please?
Low means it puts out less water. High means it uses more water.
Have you figured out how to save the map, that it creates while vacuuming? I still dont know how to Save the map of each room and then let them Go to the different rooms

I wouldn't like to add the magnetic tape to my floors.. is there a 1-button press that will clean/map the home automatically without intervention? For example, I've seen reviews on the similarly-priced Roborock E20 and it has sensors/bumpers that allow it to slow down and bump objects while mapping for next time!
Alternatively, it would be nice if I could draw the map on the app and direct which areas to clean.
This does not offer mapping options to tell it where to go & not to go. It will just always go anywhere that it can unless you block off restricted areas with the magnetic tape

Make sure it's pointed right at it, and if it's already running you have to push pause first

Great review! Have you tried getting it to only vac on carpet but vac and mop on hard surfaces? I have a townhouse and second level is dining/kitchen with tile and then living room with carpet, wondering if you could maybe do 2 separate programs in same night to accomplish that? If not i guess it would hurt to just alternate nights. I only have a small cat so not as much hair as dogs. 😁
This one does not have that feature. That's why I don't use the mop feature

You add water and attach the Mop. You can't turn it off you can only turn it to low medium & high or remove the mop pad & empty the resvoir.

Y'all, spend an extra $100 and get a better model. This ain't it. There's nothing "smart" about how the tikom cleans. It has a predetermined number of movements and does not remember where it's already cleaned. So, it's a diceroll if it can cover your whole home in one charge. It does not have recharge and resume, so it will not record any location info if it fails to clean a room and it will not return to any areas it missed. It's all just randomized.
The predetermined movements with no location based moves is the nail in the coffin. Depending on your furniture and home layout, the robot will not be able to access certain parts of your home, and can get into a loop where it is unable to escape a certain part, even when it is time to return to the charging station. For example, I have one, 5-wheeled lazy boy office chair in my office, and the legs are too complex for the tikom to understand, so it ends up just going back and forth around it, and becomes trapped in the room. I am currently watching this pathetic piece of machinery trying to return to it's charging station while it runs out of battery. There are literally no obstructions to the doorway leading out into the living room where it's base is. It just doesn't know where it's base is and is relying on it's random movements to get it there. It's a diceroll for it to successfully return home. I don't see a point in having a robot vac if you have to constantly monitor it and make sure it cleans by manually controlling it's movement. This has been more time consuming than just vacuuming myself. This is the most disappointing purchase I've had in years. Maybe if you live in a studio space of 450 sq ft, this would work. I am in 1100 sq ft and it just doesn't work. I am replacing this with a Roomba right away.
As expected, the robot failed to reach it's charging station after about 40 mins of struggling around. The robot would get near to the doorway leading to it's charging station, and then turn around. This was the first time the robot attempted a return to home. I have only had the model for one day and it has been the biggest waste of time. Horribly designed. Grant Butler did a good review of the features which was helpful, but all of the other reviewers did not warn of the poor design. The world could use a lot less reviewers who open the product, feel happy, and immediately post 5 star reviews based on their feelings alone, without any consideration to the quality of the product. Anyone who actually recommends this product lives in a very small home, doesn't understand what people are looking to buy, or just lying.

"Detecting" are you talking about the whole revisor? It might not be inserted all the way. However, if you are talking about the fabric part; I don't think there are sensors on this device to be able to detect if its there or not.
