    So let me understand, it is a huge beast of a truck, with fully armored cabin but a pure aluminum hood and zero protection for the engine so they can simply blow up the engine shooting at it and then you are a sitting duck in your extremely expensive fully armored cabin. Am I correct?

    • @Fly-aaron92
      @Fly-aaron92 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      They didn't understand what it meant when they heard "bullet proofing the engine" 🤣

    • @Fly-aaron92
      @Fly-aaron92 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      And and I guess technically you wouldn't be entirely sitting duck. They did put in the holes in the doors to shoot out of and the turret up top. Granted if they're already firing on you, you're dead as soon as you pop your head up to use the turret but 💁‍♂️

      Exactly! Its completely useless unless the power plant is protected.

      He did say fully armoured cab, so I suspect that they didn’t protect the engine.

    We appreciate our good friend Andre stopping by and taking time to talk with us at our SEMA 2022 booth.
    There are a lot of questions that will be answered shortly on our website, but a few quick clarifications:
    1: The engine and hood can be ballistically protected and is recommended but optional to upgrade. If you look at the splash protection around wheels, additional ballistic armor can be added as well as under hood protection and grill deflection with upgraded pushrods on hood for lifting.
    The frame currently used by us is the Hummer H1, M1123 and similar variants and the M1165 and M1152 variants. (There was a comment about Plan B using a m1114, which we do not use)
    There is standard underbody protection, as well as an optional skid plate upgrade that can be added as well as more soon to be announced model configurations and optional upgrades appropriate to each model.
    The Duramax and Cummins turbo Diesel engines are the current power plants being used for the Ricochet, both engine families have history in the military for different reasons.
    There are a few minor changes still happening depending on supply chain and agreements we are pursuing, which may change minor things in the near future (locking systems, latches etc)
    Seating can be for 4-6 adults depending on standard or tactical seating configuration.
    Fuel capacity is upgradable up to 100+ gallons of protected diesel on board if needed.
    We will give more details soon, and appreciate all the work TFL does, and wish them the great success they deserve for the incredible videos they produce.
    Stay safe, and may this vehicle we have designed never have to be used for its intended purpose here in America. We just like to have options.
    -Dan

    Probably built on an REV chassis. Shows what is possible with the amazing frame/chassis of the Humvee platform if AM General was willing to actually rework their production line. .The thing I wish Plan B would be upfront about is the difficulty in getting surplus Humvee's registered for road use. A lot of states are cracking down on them. The H1's don't have that problem.

    5:24 Full aluminum hood, the cab is bullet proof. My question would be, why not also make the hood bullet proof? The radiator is sitting right in front. Any direct fire and your radiator and engine failure will be unavoidable? I'm not an engineer, but I am an industrial machine operator and maintenance personnel. IMHO this truck has a major flaw. The hood also has to be made bullet proof! You wouldn't go into battle with just a helmet and no chest gear?

    I've noticed something that's commonly found in the comments of your videos that may need to be addressed. Too many people don't understand what SAE J2807 is, why it's important, and when it started. I understand you have a video on it but people seem to actually believe that a 2003 S10 could safely tow 6000 lbs. It'd be a great video series, for the gauntlet. Or some other tests, as the gauntlet would be sketchy, at best.

      Water pumps and oil filters are cheap and easy to stock. A diesel should be able to do 500k miles, and truck engines are everywhere and not that difficult to maintain or swap. It's less about how good a particular thing is or how long it lasts, its about how many are available. If the water pump goes out on a really common engine, no big deal. If a module that drives the motors on a custom electric vehicle fail, you're stuck

    • @UnProj
      @UnProj ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Use what is most available, and the most basic technology to meet your needs. If I were building an apocalyptic vehicle, it would be truck based, and use the most common gasoline powered, manual transmission truck engine I can find and set it up with a carburetor tuned to run on alcohol, along with appropriate fuel tank and lines (ethanol is more efficient to make from plants than biodiesel. Use the most common size axles, wheels, brakes, etc.
      Btw, I'm not fan of this truck at all

    the armoured vehicle needs a new in-house designed & built ladder frame chassis . . . a 3.8 MM - 4.3 MM thick military grade high strength steel chassis frame is serve best suited for such a heavy armoured vehicle . . . a PHEV power pack would be nice, for e.g. a in-house designed 4.6 Biturbo V8 or 5.4 TDI I6 and both mated to a torque converter 9-speed auto . . . a 36.0 kWh pure EV mode good for 83 miles . . . that aging 6.6 TDI V8 & 5-speed auto needs to go for good . . . by the way second row suicide doors don't suit the purpose . . .
