L3 Communcations 'MULTI-MISSION AIRCRAFT' Dash-8 Q400 | Taxi & Takeoff at Prestwick Airport

L3 Communcations' brand new aircraft, a Multimission patrol Dash 8 Q400, departing Prestwick Airport (PIK/EGPK), heading to Farnborough Airshow 2018 in July for it's big reveal! 😀
This Bombardier Dash-8 Q400 (Registration: N404E) has been converted to a multi-purpose maritime patrol and communcations aircraft after serving many years with Flybe ferrying passengers around Europe. Quite a change for this Dash 8...two new large fuel tanks on either side of the plane, a multimission systems bay underneath, an observation window and even hard points for weapons!
This video was filmed at Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK/EGPK) on the 11th July 2018.

Okay... the Q400 looks insanely powerful in that dark gray color, especially knowing that the Q400 cruises at similar speeds and altitudes to most fighter jets!

The Q400 cruises at about 400mph below 17,000ft, above that it's about 340-360mph. Hardly the speed of a fighter jet, although they are great aircraft.
