Incredible footage! Chris so young and his fantastic guitar player James Calvin Wilsey a.k.a. Jimmy Wilsey! This is first Chris Silverstone line up before Kenney Dale Johnson join on drums and Roley Salley on bass!
Jimmy Wilsey was such an incredible musician! Saw him play live one time post- Chris Isaak at Club DeLuxe on Haight Street. His guitar tone live was amazing!
Currently reading the James Wilsey book “wicked game” and came across this video on pg. 210. Waht a great video/song/documentation. I had no idea they all had punk roots until I started reading this book. I grew up on bands in the SF/LA scenes and had no idea Jimmy was deep in it and part of Silvertone/Isaak. This is great!
I was in the The City at this time and he was the shit. Saw some amazing shows. The second I saw him I knew he was special. Always a great vibe at his shows too.
Fantastic. Excellent sound quality. I love the edge that early Silvertone had. A bit haunting. A touch of psychobilly. Wilsey was so good. I can't even figure out what he's doing at the beginning and end of this song to get that sound. Great stuff.
Great to compare this early footage to hear how much Chris improved within a few years, hitting notes more consistently. Practice, practice, practice. Hard work & persistence definitely paid off for him. Very cool to see this early footage of Jimmy--distinctive tone even at such a young age.
yeah he would have been about 24. that's a good 9 years before Wicked Game was released and another couple years before it was actually declared a hit.
Many thanks for this rarity,I just bought that same Silvertone guitar 1446 he's playing in this video, only difference, mine is black, many thanks my friend
RIP. Wilsey. Chris could never steal your sound and certainly couldn't sell your soul, though he tried. Jimmy died under a SF freeway. Many of the homeless, but the one Jimmy Wilsey.

On the same page hah
@@declancullen9750 his solo record is my new favorite
Colour me impressed. That girl at 1:25 was REAL good at keeping so still. Also, props are in order to the band AND the crowd for staying so silent.

Amazing I didn't see them until about '82 in a little bar on Haight with a tiny stage in the back. I thought that was early.
Nightbreak. They had a residency there.
That bar on Haight was called Nightbreak. They had a residency there.
Now that was Kool / Old school Chris...!

David Parker
He's using his whammy bar.
Forever remembering James Wilsey!

10 years later... those 1446 are so collectible! Score!
Whiz Burger is still there amazingly. SF was so much better back then.
Yup! One of the very last relics from the SF golden years....
So long Jimmy
Man I bet that was the time to live in SF damn
Thank you...love it!!
Look how young
Wow
Amazing

Silvertone!
Go go boots....wow..:-)
Ah'm t' Drummer here & WiLsy was m' Comrade; nOt a BrO
You guys really created something special. It is such a drag that Jimmy can't see how much he's missed.
Wow…..does this mean they are around 24 or so?
Before Chris took over and threw everyone of these guys pictured out of the band.
Every member of the band- save for Wilsey- in this video is still in the band: Rowland Salley on bass, and Kenny Dale Johnson on drums...
That is Kenney on the drums? Such baby faces!
@@theresaharvey2424 That's John Silvers also a drummer for the Dils
Once Jimmy Wilsey left the band...it was all down hill...Isaak lost the iconic sound / vibe....
That’s John Silvers on drums and Jamie Ayres on bass. This quartet played together til 1985.
👍
CHRIS. Gave him time to clean up....but the drugs. He could not kick......
This before Kenney , and rolly
