For those few who object to the “sales pitches” for the Tempest Weather Station, you’re missing out on not only very interesting measurements but some safety measures as well. Our Tempest detected and alerted us about approaching lightning long before we saw anything or heard thunder.
That is neat to know!

I didnt realize some people didnt like him talking about them! I think its great. I'll be getting one soon. I'll never understand why people dont appreciate or like small podcasters like Michael advertising good products.. he has to make money and feed his family too just like any of us. I'm a total capitalist so I appreciate him being sponsored and offering a special promo discount theough him. They watch commercials on cable tv, radio, movies all day every day.. why it bothers someone the little guy gets in on some sponsorship and advertisement action is beyond me.

I have both a Tempest and a Davis Vantage Vue, the lightening detection is a great feature, but one thing to know is that it's solar powered and both mine in PDX (south facing) and my buddies in SEA, went into an almost power saving shut down mode in the winter due to our dark cloudy days. They do sell an auxiliary AC/battery pack which you will need in the PNW to keep it powered throughout the winter time. Still I highly recommend them.

How is no other weather apps showing any possible thunderstorm activity for today into tomorrow even the national weather service has removed the chance of storms for the pnw. ? But yet this still shows a chance i dont get it.

Is the T-Storm threat for today, 22Aug, or 23August24'?
I live South of Olympia, wa. I DO NOT see anything that indicates storms when I look outside?
You cant tell if a thunderstorm is coming by looking outside hours before.
Why do they call it southerly when it is flowing northward?
Southerly winds blow FROM the south, just as westerlies come in from the ocean/west.
