To me what is really insane about Sinner (and you can say the same for Alcaraz) is how he can win certain points when 95% of players would not convert: all these balls where he over extends and kills it or when he is trying to get back to the rally from impossible angles. That - to me - is what really makes him (and Alcaraz) stand apart from the crowd. On another note, kudos to Big Foe, for a stellar tournament!

We've seen some gracious players over the years, but Sinner might be the most gracious of them all. No broken racquets or tantrums. No primal screams. Outrageously good play with an occasional fist pump here and there. Did you notice in the semi against Sasha...he was limping between points and when he motioned for the towel from the ball kids he said thank you when he handed it back to them. When is the last time you saw a number one player male or female with manners like that? He's just a wonderful person to have as the top ranked player.

Sinner has been so tough mentally since October 2023. If he can address the injury (hip) and health (tonsillitis) issues he will go even further and possibly win the USO. For now, he can go to New York, rest, have a health checkup, practice and be ready by Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

What separates Sinner and Alcaraz from the concurrence is the same gift the Big Three had: the ability of turning a defensive rally, often in desperate situations, into an offensive one with one single shot on the run, sometimes hitting a straight winner even (you can see three or four of those by Sinner on this video alone), whereas all the other players would just keep playing defense or look for a neutral phase of the rally.
I've always said that Federer, Djokovic and Nadal were first of all the greatest defensive players of all time by a large margin and that was the first secret of their success, and Alcaraz and Sinner definitely belong in that stratosphere

I just hope he doesn't have to pay for it at the US Open, because his hip is acting up again, and there are only a few days left.
