Alamat is recognized within the Ppop community for having no-skip discography. Sometimes you'll just find yourself anticipating their next release, cause this group is very much experimental genre wise. One moment, they might deliver a heartfelt love song or smooth R&B track like Maharani, and the next, you could be hit with a powerful rap song that tackles issues related to colonizers like Dagundong

PPop is not that much of a mainstream here. It's still a developing subgenre. The most popular artists here are balladeers and rock bands. Our main genre is OPM which just means Original Pinoy (Filipino) Music. And it can be pop, r&b, ballad, hiphop, rock, etc. As long as it's by Filipino (it can also be in Tagalog/Filipino, English or any other native languages, or any combination of these)

I never got into K-Pop but I am diving into P-Pop.. SB19 hooked me to the genre. But they also kinda set the bar high. SB19 are so versatile.. top tier live performers, the talent just overflows. From the lyrical and musical artistry.. just mind-blowing. Definitely what I show off when I introduce P-pop to my colleagues here. Slowly introducing G22 because their talents, like their big brothers SB19 is solid. They are power performers- embodies strong independent Filipinas, yet humble and kind. They're very young still and I look forward to them creating their own literary masterpieces in the future (i.e. writing/producing their own songs).

In terms of hierarchy, one could say SB19 is way up there. They were the progenitors of PPOP groups. BINI's popularity has soared as well. The other acts are following closely. Alamat (which literally means "legend"/"folktale") is a PPoP act that incorporates local lore (dances like you see in Maharani, words from other dialects/languages in other regions; i.e. "Maharani" is a Hindu title for a woman married to a ruler called a Maharaja). Genre is quite diverse as is common with ALL PPop acts. For instance, SB19 have songs in genres like retro (WYAT), R&B (I Want You), ballads (Mapa), etc. So too does Alamat, G22 and Bini. But in terms of popularity though, solo acts are considered the most popular. Singers like Regine Velasquez, Sarah Geronimo (her song "Tala" was trending for a while on TikTok), Morissette, Katrina Velarde, KZ Tandingan (who actually mentored G22 for "Bang"), Gary Valenciano (watch his Wishbus performance of Al Jarreau's rendition of the Chick Corea classic "Spain" to be in awe of his vocal agility), Daryl Ong (he has a BoyzIIMen cover medley which he sings a capella in 5 voices), Gigi De Lana, and many many more. The one who is most known internationally would perhaps be the Lawrence Olivier and Tony award winning double Disney princess (for the singing voices of both Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan), Lea Salonga. The Philippines has been known to produce top quality singers. These PPOP acts would have proven that pretty much all of them can sing quite well individually. Now imagine them performing like KPOP acts with intricate dance moves and rapping but with enhanced vocals, they're bound to take the world by storm!

In terms of Fandom, BINI is definitely on top, they appeal to the masses more compare to the others because their songs are easy to understand, easy on the ears, most people in the Philippines like bubbly, cute style. When it comes to live performance, vocals & lyricism #1 is SB19 (they started ppop movement💙) , next is G22, then ALAMAT. Many more ppop are rising too, & we hope the world will get to know them. SB19, Bini, Alamat, and G22 are P-pop which is a subgenre under OPM. There are a lot more popular and established artists in OPM that I can't really say who's in the top. One of the artists off the top of my head is Sarah Geronimo. But there's a lot of others like Ben and Ben, Juan Karlos, etc.
G22 - check out boomerang man, mv and show it all live plus limitless, for their epic ballads - check out Musika and Babalik, MVs, show it all, and wishbus...they are explosive...

Most of Alamat members are on their mid 20s, so not really teens haha! They debuted on 2021. And yep, G22 thrives in girl crush concepts but they can crush soft concepts too. They debuted in 2022. It's exciting to anticipate both groups grow in the music scene, hopefully not just domestically but also to get that international sauce like sbini19 too

For PPOP it's SB19, BINI, Alamat, G22, BGYO, KAIA, VXON. SB19 (2018) and MNL48 (2018) were the early ones. MNL48 seem to be dormant now. Alamat (2020) came next, then BINI (2021) and BGYO (2021) they are bro and sis group under the same management. VXON , G22, KAIA (2022) came one after the other in 2022. KAIA is being managed by the same company that initially managed SB19. I wish 1Z (management group of SB19) just buys out the contracts of G22 and KAIA and manage them since they have so much potential. VXON and G22 are under the same management. Now that you have opened the other pandora boxes, all Alamat songs are bangers, except maybe for 1 or 2 that are meh. G22 generally have awesome songs as well. G22 has a new song called Limitless which was writen by SB19's Pablo and his brother. If you would like to listen to the other groups start with: KAIA (Dalawa wishbus, Turn Up, You did it), BGYO (Magnet, Bulalakaw, Trash), VXON (Sandal). Don't limit yourself to Idol groups though. There are a lot of other artists like Ben and Ben, Dionela, Maki, Janine Tenoso, etc.

tbh the ppop industry that we know now is relatively young and isn't that widely known to ph general public yet. ph locals love hiphop, r&b, ballads and alt bands. rn, ppop is getting recognition from the gp with the rise of sb19 and bini who's loved by the mass. but hierarchy of groups within ppop space are sb19, bini, alamat, g22, vxon, kaia.....

ALAMAT's concept is deliberately about Filipino culture. It uses ethnic instruments, folkdance, indigenous woven fabrics, and uses multiple Filipino languages per song (I think up to 7 at a time!) And their creative director is an award-winning indie film director too, so thats why they have these cinematic story-type MVs. 😂 Songs I recommend by genre or vibe: Day & Night - Pop Say U Love Me - R&B Dagundong - Rap Sa Panaginip Na Lang - Ballad Aswang - Halloween!!!! Interesting MV culturally: Kasmala - about the racism faced by Filipino immigrants in the USA, when our indigenous people were placed in human zoos at the 1904 St Louis Worlds Fair Dayang - the choreography is based on folkdance and Philippine Martial Arts ABKD - about the colorism faced by dark-skinned Filipinos, featuring the Aeta indigenous community
SB19 started the Ppop movement in PH.. and so they are the older group and considered as Seniors by the younger groups..😊 and of course they are the Ppop Kings.. 😊 Alamat is the 2nd though in terms of boy groups 😊 Bini is the most popular girl group, but G22 is my personal favorite as they are more similar to SB19 genres.. I like the strong, female alphas.. 😊 Show It All China 'Boomerang' and 'Babalik' live by G22 is fire.. 😊 Babalik is a ballad by the way.. 😊

For ppop, SB19 & Bini are the top bg & gg. Alamat is ranked next to them, & debuted at the same time as Bini (Maharani was released before Bini's popularity sky rocketed & before SB19's I want you). This trio has been the top 3 for at least 1 or 2 years now in terms of listeners, & in my opinion discography - quantity & quality (productionwise) Currently 4th & 5th in rank are Vxon & G22 Alamat has intense songs (Dagundong, Aswang, ILYILY) while G22 has soft songs such as (Babalik & Ikaw ang aking musika)
Top is definitely SB19. G22 is very underrated. They are very talented and vocal powerhouses. Alamat is popular too although they have their own niche audience. Bini is good with their dancing. The edge SB19 have over other groups whether they be local or foreign is their ability to write and produce their own songs (and videos). Each SB19 member can do solo.
Alamat does multiple genres, so does G22. But Alamat’s RnB is fire! In terms of vocal range I would say BINI is top-tier gg (plus there are several all-rounders), but G22’s vocals are great too, and AJ Yape is a rap monster
6:35 i think you gotta be specific on what you mean by artists. like all artists or just ppop? like ppop is fairly new in the 'artist' landscape. you got mori, katrina, budakel and a million of other non ppop artists. and they are all good in their own rights. but if it comes to ppop a lot of what people mentioned regarding sb19, bini, being the top and these guys being the underdogs that are also good holding their own.

Genre is quite diverse as is common with ALL PPop acts. For instance, SB19 have songs in genres like retro (WYAT), R&B (I Want You), ballads (Mapa), etc. So too does Alamat, G22 and Bini.
But in terms of popularity though, solo acts are considered the most popular. Singers like Regine Velasquez, Sarah Geronimo (her song "Tala" was trending for a while on TikTok), Morissette, Katrina Velarde, KZ Tandingan (who actually mentored G22 for "Bang"), Gary Valenciano (watch his Wishbus performance of Al Jarreau's rendition of the Chick Corea classic "Spain" to be in awe of his vocal agility), Daryl Ong (he has a BoyzIIMen cover medley which he sings a capella in 5 voices), Gigi De Lana, and many many more. The one who is most known internationally would perhaps be the Lawrence Olivier and Tony award winning double Disney princess (for the singing voices of both Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan), Lea Salonga.
The Philippines has been known to produce top quality singers. These PPOP acts would have proven that pretty much all of them can sing quite well individually. Now imagine them performing like KPOP acts with intricate dance moves and rapping but with enhanced vocals, they're bound to take the world by storm!

In terms of Fandom, BINI is definitely on top, they appeal to the masses more compare to the others because their songs are easy to understand, easy on the ears, most people in the Philippines like bubbly, cute style. When it comes to live performance, vocals & lyricism #1 is SB19 (they started ppop movement💙) , next is G22, then ALAMAT. Many more ppop are rising too, & we hope the world will get to know them.

SB19, Bini, Alamat, and G22 are P-pop which is a subgenre under OPM. There are a lot more popular and established artists in OPM that I can't really say who's in the top. One of the artists off the top of my head is Sarah Geronimo. But there's a lot of others like Ben and Ben, Juan Karlos, etc.

Most of Alamat members are on their mid 20s, so not really teens haha! They debuted on 2021.
And yep, G22 thrives in girl crush concepts but they can crush soft concepts too. They debuted in 2022.

For PPOP it's SB19, BINI, Alamat, G22, BGYO, KAIA, VXON. SB19 (2018) and MNL48 (2018) were the early ones. MNL48 seem to be dormant now. Alamat (2020) came next, then BINI (2021) and BGYO (2021) they are bro and sis group under the same management. VXON , G22, KAIA (2022) came one after the other in 2022. KAIA is being managed by the same company that initially managed SB19. I wish 1Z (management group of SB19) just buys out the contracts of G22 and KAIA and manage them since they have so much potential. VXON and G22 are under the same management. Now that you have opened the other pandora boxes, all Alamat songs are bangers, except maybe for 1 or 2 that are meh. G22 generally have awesome songs as well. G22 has a new song called Limitless which was writen by SB19's Pablo and his brother. If you would like to listen to the other groups start with: KAIA (Dalawa wishbus, Turn Up, You did it), BGYO (Magnet, Bulalakaw, Trash), VXON (Sandal). Don't limit yourself to Idol groups though. There are a lot of other artists like Ben and Ben, Dionela, Maki, Janine Tenoso, etc.

tbh the ppop industry that we know now is relatively young and isn't that widely known to ph general public yet. ph locals love hiphop, r&b, ballads and alt bands. rn, ppop is getting recognition from the gp with the rise of sb19 and bini who's loved by the mass. but hierarchy of groups within ppop space are sb19, bini, alamat, g22, vxon, kaia.....

ALAMAT's concept is deliberately about Filipino culture. It uses ethnic instruments, folkdance, indigenous woven fabrics, and uses multiple Filipino languages per song (I think up to 7 at a time!) And their creative director is an award-winning indie film director too, so thats why they have these cinematic story-type MVs. 😂

For ppop, SB19 & Bini are the top bg & gg. Alamat is ranked next to them, & debuted at the same time as Bini (Maharani was released before Bini's popularity sky rocketed & before SB19's I want you). This trio has been the top 3 for at least 1 or 2 years now in terms of listeners, & in my opinion discography - quantity & quality (productionwise)
Currently 4th & 5th in rank are Vxon & G22
Alamat has intense songs (Dagundong, Aswang, ILYILY) while G22 has soft songs such as (Babalik & Ikaw ang aking musika)

Top is definitely SB19. G22 is very underrated. They are very talented and vocal powerhouses. Alamat is popular too although they have their own niche audience. Bini is good with their dancing. The edge SB19 have over other groups whether they be local or foreign is their ability to write and produce their own songs (and videos). Each SB19 member can do solo.

6:35 i think you gotta be specific on what you mean by artists. like all artists or just ppop? like ppop is fairly new in the 'artist' landscape. you got mori, katrina, budakel and a million of other non ppop artists. and they are all good in their own rights. but if it comes to ppop a lot of what people mentioned regarding sb19, bini, being the top and these guys being the underdogs that are also good holding their own.
