Hi friends! IIn this tutorial, I show you a piano melodic line composed by Beethoven in his Moonlight Sonata, 3rd movement. I show you what notes he uses, how you can play it on the piano in different keys, and how you can use it to fill empty spots in songs like Happy Birthday, Taylor Swift's You Belong With Me, Billy Joel's Piano Man, and the Jazz standard, Fly My To The Moon, made famous by Frank Sinatra. As an intermediate player I really appreciate you sharing these "fills" with us, and Beethoven just happens to be my favorite composer of all time. Thank you!
You've done it again Marina. I asked and you listened. I really enjoyed and appreciated your video on Chopin Fills. Eager to learn more was what I wanted and got exactly that. Please keep them coming. It might sound odd but when people mention fills I freak but when they are likened to classical music, it's like I'm still in my comfort zone. Really looking forward to the next one. There are so many people out there on the web teaching piano including fills and runs, however, they aren't classy or complicated and they don't highlight using the works of the OG's as you refer to them lol! Thank you so much Marina. I've been practising this run for years and finally got it not so long ago so I shall certainly be breaking this down.
You're very welcome! I used to be so afraid of fills - and they seemed so mysterious. I also felt I wasn't "cool" enough for them. lol Anyway, yes, it totally helps if you think of fills coming from a classical piece.
@@ThePianoKeys Absolutely. So please keep them coming lol! I find it so much easier to use my classical knowledge and experience to do this skill which I have to say terrified me also lol! Apart from which being in my comfort zone and nothing from a genre which I always blocked thinking I couldn't play that style lol, they also sound classier than any fill from outside of the genre and are more elegant whilst achieving the same if not better effect. Let's hear some great cheers for the OB's.
Thank you for this great video lesson, Marina! So fun to learn iow patterns can be extracted from classical pieces and incorporated into pop songs!🌷🌷🌷. Fun to play the pattern in various keys and change it from minor to major key!☀️☀️☀️

Thanks so much!
That’s is so genius, you are wonderful 🙂
Thank you! 😊
Inlove the runs lessons
Thank you!
Borrowing from Beethoven is fine. But just don't let him borrow anything because he NEVER GIVES IT BACK.
🤣
