Please understand they had to do all the time jumps because literally nothing happened in all these years besides people having lots of babies and Viserys just slowly getting sicker. That's it haha. There was no story to tell. But don't worry, it'll really, really slow down from here. This show is expected to take 3 or 4 more seasons, yet there are only really 3 total years in the actual Dance of Dragons war between the Greens and Blacks. So each future season will probably cover about a year. But don't worry. A LOT HAPPENS in these 3 years. Buckle up! You're in for a treat of a war! Remember, unlike GoT, this story is complete, so you can't mess up the ending. It's already been written.

Someone may have pointed it out already, but Rhaenyra is the only daughter (only child) of Viserys & his first wife. The other daughter, Helaena, is from Alicent.

Alicent was not lying. Viserys, in his dementia (and on his dying breath nonetheless), believed he was speaking to Rhaenyra. He was assuring her the prophecy of Aegon the Conqueror's dream; not Viserys's son, Aegon, but the original Aegon from before their time. Alicent believed he was talking to her about _their_ son, and she wouldn't know otherwise, because Viserys kept the prophecy a secret from everyone asides Rhaenyra. This is a textbook definition of conundrum. And this conundrum started a war.

Alicent would've put her son on the throne either way. She planted the seed in her children's heads since they were young. Alicent misunderstanding was just to make her feel better about usurping the rightful heir. Viserys might have mentioned *HIS* dream to Alicent about having a son with a crown but never Aegon's dream (which what he was talking about on his deathbed), his final words were clearly not meant for her. Even she looked guilty when lord Beesbury mentioned how it was weird for Viserys to change his mind in the last minute with no one else to hear but the boy's mother, I think she realized at point how sus she sounded😂
You guys keep thinking this story directly ties into the main series, it doesnt. Its between 200-170 years prior to the main show. Daenerys brother Viserys (from the main show) saying "they took our home from us" has NOTHING to do with whats going on in this show. Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark took over the "Mad King", who was Daenerys's father, 17 years before the main show, which is what he meant.
Well Daenerys is from Rhaenera's direct line.

I didnt think it was 200 years before. Only thing that ties these two shows together if i remember right is jeoffrey showing his wife to be Marjorie or whatever around the citadel and talking about rhaenera and her brother fighting for the crown and how rhaenera died :P (trying not to spoil it if they make a season 2)

The Hightowers (Family name) and Highgarden (A Place) are separate things.
And you’re both talking like it’s just one side that’s Targaryens, but BOTH sides are Targaryen.
The Dance of the Dragons is the story of the Targaryen civil war.
That’s why they refer to Raenerya’s side as “The Blacks” and Aegon’s side as “The Greens”.

One thing I don’t think you caught was that many of the children in the “fight club” were actually Aegon’s children from all the women he was with in the brothels.
Let me tell you when that dragon busted up through the floor that was one of the biggest shocks I have ever had watching any show ever. I don’t remember standing up but I was somehow on my feet screaming.
Hightower is Alicent's family name, from Oldtown where the Citadel is (where Sam went to train as a Maester). HighGarden is a place where the Tyrells were from) but yeah, same hair color lol
That dragon fight at the end was meant to be just a scare not a fight to the death but they both lost control of their dragons but can see it was the trigger that started what is to come.

Daenerys having her home "stolen" have nothing to do with HOTD. Both shows are 200 years apart in timeline. The reason they lost their hold on King's Landing is because Targaryens lost the war with Baratheons, Starks, Arryns and Tullies (with Lannisters joining towards the end). Daenerys and Viserys weren't in Dragonstone on GOT timeline. Targaryens were still the ruling monarchs till the mad king's time period with Dragonstone being the seat of the heir, in Mad King's case the seat belonged to Rhaegar. The heir is supposed to live in Dragonstone until the ruling monarch dies and the heir will go back to King's Landing for his/her coronation. Dragonstone will then be safekeeped for the next heir. That's exactly why Stannis was in Dragonstone cause Robert kept him there as his "heir". Daenerys and Viserys went to free cities (like Pentos) trying to run away from Robert Baratheon.
Lady olena from Game of thrones Margerys ( the girl that married king tommen) grandmom was originally a Hightower so y’all are right to say they favor each other even with the red hair color

That final episode was a punch to the gut. Those of us who watched all the episodes when they first aired were completely committed to following the entire series after that final scene. Watching those two dragons defy the orders of Lucerys and Aemond to end up in a melee that killed Princess Rhaenyra's youngest son, was anxiety inducing. Seeing Rhaenyra get the news of her son's death made me recall what happened when Danaerys saw her closest friend Missandei, executed by Cersei Lannister. Targaryan's don't need a very strong push to go scorched earth on their enemies. Aemond knew he fucked up. Now we all have to hold out breath waiting to see just how big that mistake was. Great reaction as usual Asia and BJ!
I hope that theme of the dragons doing what they want in critical moments continues.
Lucerys didn't think that through he should've hid in the revene and waited aemond out. Sure aemonds dragon could spit fire from above but I doubt it would've gotten that deep down. Had aemond flew down to dismount he could've just flew away. Was a silly death.

Once the dragons died out, the victories belonged to who had the biggest and strongest army. With the re birth of the dragons, Daenerys had a chance to retake all that had been lost.
Yall need to watch the whole series again. So many things you could get from doing so. Also, Allison knew to show her feet because they’ve been doing it for years. It’s not shown but implied.

Season 2 drops next month, 1 episode a week. I really hope to see you guys reacting to every single episode. Season 1 has been an interesting journey with you guys.
This just show how wise King Viserys was. Year earlier Rhaenyra suggested to her father that he send his dragon riders to deliver a message o the Free Cities and he said no. He seemed to be the only one to understand that dragon riders are not fully in control.

The time jumps are necessary to get to the story! It will all come together. Season 2 is coming soon and I can’t wait for that! Also, Veiserys was finishing a conversation with Rhenearya, unfortunately she wasn’t the one sitting with him. He’s referring to “The Song of Ice & Fire”, which is also talked about & fulfilled in GOT with Daenerys & Jon(a.k.a. Aegon) when they came together to defeat the white walkers.
On another note, you guys are definitely in for a wild ride with Dexter! There’s only a few shows that I will watch over and over, Dexter is one of them!
I think you misunderstood the reason why Daenerys was at Dragonstone. Dragonstone was the first stronghold of the Tagaeryans from which they conquered the rest if the 7 kingdoms. Her father, King Aerys (the mad king) was killed in the rebellion led by Robert Baratheon. In order to save his children, they fled to Dragonstone. After Robert became King, he sent assassins after Viserys and Daenerys which led them to flee even further away from the seven kingdoms to the free cities. Dragonstone also holds great significance as the birthplace of Daenerys.

BJ was right when he said Alicent interpreted Viserys last words wrong. It wasn’t so much that she was lying, it’s that she didn’t realize Viserys thought he was talking to Rhaenyra (since he was 90% dead and delusional) and not her. All of this started over misunderstandings
The misunderstanding was irrelevant. The small council was already making plans. Half the realm would never accept a queen. War was inevitable.

Can't wait for season 2 month! I started Dexter and made it about 3 seasons but just fell away from it. Great show, but I just had too many other shows I was watching and life in general when it was on. 5:57 BJ's right. Alicent misinterpreted Viserys' words. Viserys NEVER said ANYTHING about sacrificing Aegon. Otto told Alicent that Rhaenyra would have to kill her children if they don't bend the knee to her. 44:45 Aemond told everyone in episode 7 "It was a fair exchange. I lost an eye, but I gained a dragon," so what's he even taunting and chasing Luke $or in the first place.

I enjoyed GoT very much for the most part...enough to get a Stark tattoo...(before season 8 aired ) Needless to say I was a tad skeptical coming into this series, but I feel like they did an excellent job. Great casting as well
The Targaryens were based on Dragonstone after the fall of Old Valarya. It’s from there that Aegon the Conqueror launched his takeover of the 7 kingdoms. Dragonstone is the seat of the heir to the Iron Throne and that’s why Rhaenrya is there.
I have no doubt that Daemon loves Rhaenyra, but he mad me so mad in the last episode. Between him not going to her when she was giving birth to the choking moment, he made me so mad!
I’m excited to watch y’all watch Dexter and when you finish watch the new Dexter it’s just as intense!
The Hightowers of The Hightower are not the Tyrells of High Garden, though they are close.
Alicent is not from Highgarden, she's from Oldtown, their name is Hightower.😊

@@nik2957 that's what I'm saying lol. And I love that every time I watch it I still catch something new that I didn't catch before. Like today I was watching Hot Fuzz and when Danny shoots the doctor in the leg with the air rifle, it's a direct call back to the first film where Shaun says Ed's only experience with shooting was when he once shot his sister in the leg with an air rifle. I love how they're completely different stories with completely different characters but there's so many things that connect the three films, it's freaking awesome.

If you watch the teasers for season 2, there are a total of 3 of them. One that came out early and shows some general clips, then One from the Hightower point of view, and one from Rhanyra's point of view. All 3 combined, make the 2nd season look like it's "all out war".

It wasn't a lie. Alicent made an honest mistake. And given that he told her about a prophetic dream of his son on the throne, her interpretation makes sense.

With the Larys and Alicent situation it’s implied that abuse started when she was young and it’s meant to show how even though she has the title of queen, in many way she is still powerless and a victim to the men and patriarchal systems in place.
The War Begins in just a few weeks I guys have watched this at a good time before season 2 so u guys don’t have to wait so long but you guys are caught up with us . And I hope we see ur guys reactions at the same time as ours but yeah I’m so happy u guys kept hanging out in Westeros I love these stories George RR Martin is an amazing story teller

Men and women can both make good or bad leaders. Michael and Vito Corleone were embodiments of patience in The Godfather, Sonny was the opposite. But take say, The Kardashians, they’re women and all they want to do is destroy each other, they’d definitely go to war without thinking. Rhaenyra is patient because she learned and witnessed that from her father Viserys, a male.

A heartbreaking thing I just thought of the reason why Rhaenyra didn't want anyone to hold her when she gave birth is because she thought of her mother who died being held down and forced open. Like that has got to be one of the fears in her heart that moment. Emma was amazing in ep10

This was very dumb of lucerys, because they have 3 little brothers that can marry the baratheon girls. Joffrey and aegon and little viserys.
I can’t wait for season 2. The time gaps in season 1 were a lot but I also get that the kids had to be aged as the content matured. They couldn’t have kids doing what they were doing so they aged it instead of like game of thrones they just made danarys older in show . This show they said age them quicker. Plus I think the real story is set up at this finale. The trailers for next season look insane.
