"Normal parents aren't buying singles on TCGPlayer" is my new favorite quote from this channel. I think there's still hope for Lorcana - but the window is rapidly closing. There's little to no competitive scene for the game because people can't get the cards in sufficient quantity to build decks. I'm totally fine with Ravensburger printing the First Chapter into the ground so that people can have staple cards. A scene could develop, which would increase the longevity of the game and create an actual market for the cards, rather than just a bubble.

Magic gets it with hype season, for sure. That and real $ prize support are absolutely essential

It helps to have a multinational company creating the hype.

That’s great. I haven’t seen really any scene on the east coast but I do have a small sample size.

Re: Lorcana... the game JUST came out - so give it a second. I agree that you're spot on with the scalpers. Ravensburger said they 100% are going to overcorrect. They admitted it. The goal is to get this game into the hands of everyone. There is totally a meta game. It's fun and engaging for lots of audiences. It's not for Flesh and Blood players. It's completely blowing up on TCG Player re: volume. They will clear out scalpers just like Pokemon did during the pandemic and things will settle down. Also, you honestly aren't the target market for this. Do you really want to be collecting Elsa and Anna? Give it more than 9 months and it will be fine. So - I agree with the scalpers. Get them out of here, get the prices back down and let families engage with a fun game. You said it really well. The question is, how do you do it? Is this the right way? Print the heck out of it? Price it correctly? Starting a new TCG right now is hard - even with the biggest IP in the world. I will say people comparing this to Star Wars have no idea just how big Disney's core brand is. Marvel plus Star Wars is about 1/8th the popularity of the mouse. That's where this is different. I'd love to know that the initial print run of First Chapter was so we can see how much scalpers really impacted the market. Seeing people have to buy into 'box breaks' to get this is absolutely disgusting. TCG's are legal gambling plain and simple. You're opening a loot box every pack.

The Lorcana games here in Colorado fill up a week in advance. Plenty of players, you guys are way off on that. There is a huge online community. The only thing you got right is that it is hard to get product.

I’m on the east coast and the scene is pretty dead over here. Glad to hear it’s going well elsewhere!

Literally what FFG did with Star Wars Destiny. How do NONE of these companies learn from the past?

What do you mean? It's not the same at all. I was a huge Destiny player. They just pumped out with no plan. This is WAY different. Ravensburger has said time and time again they ARE 100% printing this into the ground to make it accessible. Sorry if that makes people sad they can't turn a profit on this right away. It's for kids not 30 year old guys in basements.
