Set 3 won’t be out until late February/early March. There will be plenty of time to enjoy ROTF. I think the unfortunate set 3 leaks forced Ravensburger’s hand, they want to be in control of the flow of information. Leaks are horrible and hurt everyone in the ecosystem
@@Illumiteers glad to hear it! When leaks happen I always feel for content creators - I’m imagining some poor channel shooting and editing a scheduled reveal video for hours only to have a leak scoop them
I don’t even think the leaks forced their hand. They need to get the info to their distributors for allocation, so they will also send press releases like this. I’m sure actual spoiler season will be in the month leading up to the release.
Maybe if you live in Us or Germany or Uk. In the rest of the word is not the case, people don't enjoy set 1 yet and they came with 3. The leeks is indiferent. But if you will spend more than 400€ for each set and you will miss a lot of legendarys, every 3 months is too mutch money.
This was brilliant. I am the farthest from a “casual fan” and I ALWAYS get TCG anxiety. I’ve been away for a week and I feel like a year has passed. Feeling “in the know” is a REAL stress.
So glad for it too! My LGS has boxes and boxes of TFC sitting out right now and we’re getting reports of TFC…everywhere. I don’t think it’s enough to meet demand when the broader public becomes aware of the game, but it should get decent amounts to all the players/collectors who have been missing out so far. What are your thoughts?
I think the reason I'm not feeling product fatigue is because so far the new set doesn't make my old cards feel outdated. I've already got a set one deck that the revealed Piglet card is going into. So far it also feels like it's not a mechanic to a set that we will never see again. It's worth it to learn how to get the most out resist because I expect to see it again in future releases. Hopefully they can keep up this feeling of both wanting to update decks and a desire to build new decks as well.
That’s so well put. Honestly, with the first three sets being designed together, it does feel like they are all meant to be played together and that they are slowly bleeding out all the mechanics/card types so that newer players aren’t overwhelmed. I think you bring up a great point about how they designed this game, at least through the initial sets.
@@Illumiteers waiting until set three before we got locations is nice. I got to learn the basics in set one, set two gets new tricks to liven up the game, and now it can feel exciting about how to deal with locations instead of feeling overwhelmed by game mechanics.
I definitely felt and feel that way. I was thinking, "Really." I'm starting to get a bad taste with even my experiences. I'm still giving it a try, though.
That’s part of the point of the video, honestly. We discuss how the news of set three is giving some casual and fans players anxiety as they can’t even find the first two sets yet. It’s just stacking up the amount of product they want to collect simultaneously. What you are pointing out is part of what we highlight.
It just seems so crazy to me to see a 'product fatigue' video! I still can't find actual product, outside of the occasion booster box listed at triple or quadruple MSRP (which I absolutely could never afford). Gamestop Canada will sell packs, one at a time. But only one pack per person. And then double the price once you add shipping, so I haven't bothered to go for my one pack yet. I honestly hope they reach a 'product fatigue' situation, so maybe some of that overload will end up trickling down to stores near me! ❤
I think, perhaps, we are using the phrase slightly differently, honestly. Seeing set three announced right after the release of set two created anxiety in some parts of the community. There are some people still hunting the TFC as well as Rise. With the ITI (how are we abbreviating this new set?) announcement, some people we spoke to were a bit overwhelmed by the news of a third set when they were still hunting sets 1-2. This was just an attempt to help people deal with that.
Ah, I think I see what you mean. It must seem overwhelming to collectors whoare intent upon getting entire sets, or just play-sets of their dream cards. Me, I'm just hoping to get 'some' cards, so to me it's a blessing, not a curse. It means there'll be 'more' out there, which in my silly little mind raises my odds of getting 'some'. @@Illumiteers 😊
3-4 sets a year seems fine so long as the product bottleneck is resolved. The problem right now is access to the current product remains limited. Once the product is available in enough quantity on release day, this won't seem so hectic. The fact that Amazon is having to raffle off access to BUYING the second set IS the problem. Edit: Especially if they can function on something like a "main set" model with lots of the essential reprints from previous sets.
Absolutely true…the one thing we’re trying to note is that for people new to TCGs, even this pace can seem fast. Having new cards announced while they are waiting to receive the current set can be exhausting and leave casual players feeling like they are constantly behind. That’s who we’re trying to communicate with.
Funny enough tcgplayer is owned by Ebay now so in all scenarios, Ebay wins. I understand what you mean by product fatigue though. Seeing new sets being pushes when supply is, in my canadian experience, super dry while watching people play crazy decks with cards I can't find feela like missing out. Even though... I've followed Lorcana from the start. It's a bit ironic. I'm glad you touched on the topic :)
Personally, while I never got into playing the TCG itself, I guess being hooked on collecting pokemon cards left me more or less prepared for this sort of thing. Bcuz they're releasing new series every few months, too. Altho, regardless of the product, I've never been too worried about keeping up to date on every single thing. Not saying others don't, ofc, but I suppose that's why I was initially confused why ppl were concerned about fatigue. It's nice to have more of an understanding of that concern now. However, I thibk a new swt every couple of months isn't bad. Its the typical thing to see for a TCG! If anything, my guess is that it is going to be a learning curve for those who are genuinely new to TCGs in any manner.
"Fatigue" is a strong word after set 3 announcement... so no... no product fatigue yet... if they go the way of YuGiOh, we'll be fine HOWEVER!! If they go with the MTG route... then yeh *sigh* maybe...
I think the issue is that everyone experiences the game differently. For some people who are still waiting for their first box of Rise, seeing the announcement of the newest set does create some anxiety. There are so many new players in this game - some aren’t used to the pace of TCG releases. Seeing a set three announcement mere days after the release of set two was jarring to some. This video is an attempt to explain the pace to those players.

We agree with you 110%. Unfortunate situation all around. For our part, we never deal in or amplify leaked information.

Thanks so much for the comment and for stopping by, Chris!
Always means a lot when our favorite creators take time to watch our videos! ☺️
Welcome to the world of TCG’s. This is how these survive. You were worried about product availability? That is about to change in a big way.

"Everybody should enjoy TCGs and Lorcana in their own way." Yepp totes agree.
I wish they released the chapters every 4-5 months.
loving your analysis of Lorcs.
Nicely done 👍
Thanks for watching, as always! ❤️

How could their be product fatigue if you cant get product?

4 sets a year 1 every 3 months is normal for a tcg. Mtg is creating product fatigue with their 8-12 new products per year pace.

Normal doesn't means good.
A normal problem requires being pointed out.
I hope we get a Lorcana video game in the next 5 years

personally yes would be much happier with 3 per year instead of 4 like they have planned

They need to introduce higher rarity tiers and textured alts. The game is dying already for collectors.
