WatchMojo.com cool list but to me Robin Scherbatsky is hands down the greatest fictional Canadian, she's proud of her roots and defends Canada against any verbal attacks, she's just plain awesome! Wolverine doesn't act very Canadian thats why id put him lower on this list

WatchMojo.com how could you bring up Great White North and not talk about how they came up with the characters? At the time in order to have a show broadcast on canadian television, a portion of the program had to include something intrinsically canadian, or promote canadian values. SCTV was a show that made fun of american broadcast stations, so to get around that they created Great White North.
restionSerpentine I was thinking the same thing. He should have made it higher on the list, as he is a part of our culture unlike some of the others in the list.
I am Actually From New York, And have only meet one other person from U.S.A. who watched the Red Green Show, And I find that Sad, It was hilarious and innovative... Before watching his show I never knew you could make a beer cooler out of a toilet. More people need to know that sort of stuff.
@@Camman010 you do say about very differently than any other english speaker though, that's usually on this one word i can recognize if someone is from Canada.
How the Hell did not one of the cast members from "Corner Gas" not make it on the list!?(let alone "Honourable Mention") that tv show by far is one of the greatest series out there!(at least in Canada)
Dr Doom Certified Blogger They did show him love saying that if Wolverine wasn't Canadian he would of been number one. They heavily implied it with their comment that he was very tempting but Wolverine.
I feel like bonus points should be added if the Canadian character is also being played by a real Canadian, since not all fictitious Canadians are in Canadian productions (such as HIMYM and X-Men). While Wolverine is iconic, I think Deadpool should have made the list instead because he's played by a Canadian. Bob and Doug are Canadian all the way through. And even Dudley could have made higher if they counted that Brenden Fraser is half-Canadian. LOL Obviously didn't happen this way, but I think it should have counted lol.
EXACTLY, thank you!!! I was like =.= Canada better be on there.. =.=* he is the efin' personification of the country for maple's sake 😧 aaand poor deadpool.......
I think it's funny how Americans think all Canadians sound like newfoundlanders and how Canadians think all Americans sound like hillbillys from the south lol :)
Matthew Miller Maybe I am a bit biased because I am from Newfoundland, but I find the stereotypical "Canadian" accent sounds like most Albertans or Ontarians (have heard both sound like it). Us Newfies basically sound like a horrible mixed between French and Irish with a small dabble of the that stereotypical accent hahaha. But hey, if its all in good fun, saying all Canadians say "aboot" and "eh" all the time and Americans sounding like they are from the deep south, whats wrong with it right? It is pretty funny.
Ask someone from the US what a dog said and they will say "ruff ruff". Then ask them what is on top of their house and they will say "a ruff". Also a Nufie will say "Loard Thundren Jeasus" when they get wound up.
PlanetRobin Um. I'm probably wrong but isn't he American? Or is it just a happy coincidence that both Logan and Wade are Regenerating Canadian Mutants?
BN Boss21 Wolverine had rich Canadian parents and was born in Alberta, Canada. And Wade was born somewhere in Canada. Also, Wolverine was born with his Healing Factor ability. The Weapon X project gave Wade his Healing Factor ability.
Referring to the depiction of Canadians on the show South Park, if us Canadians ever did anything like that to Americans we would never hear the end of it, but Americans can get away with just about anything on TV and in real life. There is a clear double standard between the US and Canada, when it comes to just about everything.
In my opinion, you missed one fictional canadian: William Murdoch of the "Murdoch mysteries", a police detective who at the turn of the 20th,+/- 5 years works in Toronto. What is especially noteworthy about him, is his his use of cutting-edge technology (at that time), which in many ways remseble methods used today.
CanEhdianbuddEh!? Séraphin Poudrier, Donalda Laloge, Les Plouffes, Les Bougons, Ti-Mé et Môman Paré, all fours families from Le temps d'une paix (les Saint-Cyr, les Fournier, les Desrosiers et les Lavoie), Pierre Lambert...
Jean-Philippe Bousquet Well to be honest the video did mention "That everybody is talking "aboot". To be reasonable I don't think most Canadians know does characters...
I vaguely recall hearing (or reading) that Great White North only happened because SCTV couldn't get produced by the CBC without a certain percentage of "Canadian content," meaning that a certain amount of screen time had to specifically mention Canada or be relevant to the Canadian People only.
I would have switched Robin and Wolverine. While Wolverine is undeniable more famous than Robin, Wolverine just happens to be canadian, while Robin embraces her herritage. While there is nothing bad by just being something without falling into tropes and stereotypes, this list is about the top ten fictional canadians, so I would have liked someone on the top who embraces it.
Red Green! From the series, The Red Green Show. Loved watching it as a kid while growing up in Canada. I decided to re-watch it on TH-cam, while attending college/university and the years following that. I still love it. "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy."
10: Dudley Do-Right 9: Anne Shirley 8: Julian, Ricky, and Bubbles 7: Red Green 6: Terrance & Phillip 5: Trevor Phillips 4: Scott Pilgrim 3: Bob & Doug McKenzie 2: Robin Scherbatzky 1: Wolverine
Lol all of these people talking shit about canada have absolutely 0 knowledge of the country that they don't even live in, I've been to America and both countries look almost exactly the same to me, obviously they're not EXACTLY the same but canada is a different country, not a different planet.
Whaaa? No Canada from Hetalia? But Canada is like the person that represents Canada most. If you've never watched Hetalia this probably sounds really weird...
the wolverine is more relevant. Ask anyone who he is and they will know (probably say he is the x-man). But deadpool is not that big yet. Maybe after the movie
***** I understand your grudge, we're terribly sorry for Justin Bieber... Atleast we gave you Walk off the Earth, Epic Meal Time, and Just for Laughs Comedy XD
For Robin, there's an inside joke for Canadians; when Alanis Morrisette released her first two albums here, they were pop/dance music. After she found international success, the original two albums are no longer available
Snidely Whiplash! Bubbles! And of course we eat our peas using a knife. "I eat my peas with honey; I've done it all my life. It makes the peas taste funny, But it keeps them on the knife."
garcemac Wait wait wait... You have a list of fictional Canadians who are mostly portrayed by actual, real life Canadians. That doesn't count, guys. But I still liked it.
Red Green was influenced by Red Fisher, a Canadian fishing show where they fished and hung out at scuttlebutt lodge. Red Fishee was the spokesman for a mosquito repellant at events.
Legend has it that a pack of American lumberjacks got lost and wandered into what is now Canada. After seeing the abundance of rideable moose and delicious maple syrup, they stayed. Or so the legend goes.
I fucking love this Canada day thing!!! Think I've learnt more from this day then why recent school day!!! Thanks for doing this watchmojo from Aussie fan!!!
It's a common exaggeration Americans typically make to pull Canadians' leg. The way most Canadians say "about" sounds more like how Americans would say "a boat". The same goes for the way Canadians say "out" which would sound more like "owt".
Although low key (typical Canadian) William Murdoch of the TV show Murdoch Mysteries. Its been going for 12 years and and is shown in about 120 countries. I know it is not well known in the States, mostly because it shows we aren't and have little desire to be Canadian
Some of these were, no; my favourites (mentioned on here not every single fictional Canadian of all time but they are all on that list too) are Red Green, Wolverine, Deadpool, Benton Fraser and Anne Shirley love them.
What about Moose from Fireman Sam? While most other characters are Welsh, there are two characters in the show who aren't. There's Tom Thomas, who's Australian, and then there's the Canadian on the show, Moose!

Celtic Dave totally agree with you. How can Wolverine be number one if the fact isn't well known? All of the others showed their Canadian pride.
WatchMojo.com Why isn't Deadpool on the list?
WatchMojo.com Nevermind I should have watch to the last part :P
If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
codster9 Red Green!
WE DO NOT SAY ABOOT
NOXSIDE 12325 eastern Canadians tend to pronounce about as aboot
NOXSIDE 12325 you substitute the u with a w, like owt, abowt, stowt, growt and pucker up.
222rdh I am from the east
Jeremy Mathews I had never said any of thoughts (sorry if I spelled that wrong) words in my life.
like some times my dad says it but me my brother and mother never say it like that we really do not like that word ether like it annoys us

I have never heard a Canadian say eh at the end of every sentence and I'm canadian
Kitty Kat same here
Same with me and I have over 50 years in Canada, same as I have never heard a Canadian say aboot.
I do it mockingly around non Canadians
@@Camman010 you do say about very differently than any other english speaker though, that's usually on this one word i can recognize if someone is from Canada.

How the Hell did not one of the cast members from "Corner Gas" not make it on the list!?(let alone "Honourable Mention") that tv show by far is one of the greatest series out there!(at least in Canada)
Ikr. I was also hoping to see Jimmy Falcone from "Fugget About It" if you know that show.
Travis J yeah. totally surprised
Ikr! I live a couple hours away from where it was filmed
bob hamilton Lucky! wish I lived that close to a historical landmark
You mean at least in Saskatchewan!
It's Awesome that they included Trevor Phillips
Not even an honorable mention for Deadpool?
***** What is?
***** Still kinda sucks he's not on the actual list.
Dr Doom Certified Blogger One per franchise maybe...Wolverine tops him.
Frederic Beaudet Even if it was one per franchise is still think they should have showed him some love and gave an honorable mention to Deadpool.
Dr Doom Certified Blogger They did show him love saying that if Wolverine wasn't Canadian he would of been number one. They heavily implied it with their comment that he was very tempting but Wolverine.
Top 10 real canadians
#1=Terry Fox
2) Tommy Douglas
3) Frederick Banting
4) Wilder Penfield

Robin Scherbatsky was played by Cobie Smulders, who is actually from Vancouver.
Soul of Cinder Bonus! I didn't know Smulders was a Canuck. Now I do :)
redraven24 yeah, I heard that the character was supposed to be from Toronto, but they changed it because Cobie was cast.
Where's Canada from Hetalia? He's the PERSONIFICATION of Canada.
When your parents deny your love and you have to watch anime about people as countries
EXACTLY, thank you!!! I was like =.= Canada better be on there.. =.=* he is the efin' personification of the country for maple's sake 😧 aaand poor deadpool.......

Matthew Williams Don't worry, I suggested an "Another Top 10 Fictional Canadians" and I suggested you. YOU SHALL BE REMEMBERED!
bruh we have second cup, pizza pizza, and canadian currency in western canada too???? like that exists outside of toronto???????
Dondylion Pizza Pizza shouldn't exist at all.
We don't all think Toronto is the Master of the Universe. Pizza Pizza sucks.
In the west, Pizza Pizza is called Pizza 73.
I think it's funny how Americans think all Canadians sound like newfoundlanders and how Canadians think all Americans sound like hillbillys from the south lol :)
I think we're all equally racist
haha i guess so
Matthew Miller Maybe I am a bit biased because I am from Newfoundland, but I find the stereotypical "Canadian" accent sounds like most Albertans or Ontarians (have heard both sound like it). BN Boss21 You're wrong. He is Canadian.
I don't think dead pool is Canadian but the actor who played him is and yes since the beginning wolverine has always been Canadian
BN Boss21 Wolverine had rich Canadian parents and was born in Alberta, Canada. And Wade was born somewhere in Canada.
Also, Wolverine was born with his Healing Factor ability. The Weapon X project gave Wade his Healing Factor ability.
David Gaudet deadpool got his powers in Canada but I'm not sure if he's from there or not

Jean-Philippe Bousquet Yeah at least
Séraphin should have made it into this list... But it's no big deal really.
Surprised anyone remembers the Red Green show. It was the best thing on PBS over here in America. Used to watch it every sunday.
I vaguely recall hearing (or reading) that Great White North only happened because SCTV couldn't get produced by the CBC without a certain percentage of "Canadian content," meaning that a certain amount of screen time had to specifically mention Canada or be relevant to the Canadian People only.

I liked Jake Doyle from republic of Doyle, that kick ass gto he drove was especially awesome
Where are the Kids in the Hall?
b1merio Ah, they're real people. They play fictional characters
b1merio I suggested individual characters from Kids In the Hall; none of them made the cut, though...
In the hall

Red Green! From the series, The Red Green Show.

HAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!! XD
What about the Littlest Hobo??
Dead pool is way cooler then wolverine
But he is not Canadian
Dead pool is overrated
Half of dead pools fans have never touched a comic book, just like most of batmans and fans.
Forget Wolverine! It's all about Ghost Rider!
And also btw Commander Awesome, deadpool is canadian, even though he was on the American army
Trailer park boys should be #1 this is greeeeeeeeeeeeassssyyyy
ZaBoSs89 H No, they shouldn't be, and you're immature.
Lazy Canadian Why shouldn't they be? They're hilarious characters from a fantastic show. Also, how is the OP immature?
***** Not everyone knows who they are, Wolverine is far more well known than every other person on the list.
Lazy Canadian Fair enough. They are, unfortunately, not as well known. They should at least be higher, though.
ZaBoSs89 H Top 3 for sure with Bob and Doug and Wolvie included
Amuro Ray should've been on this list. He is the benchmark of all Gundam pilots that came after him.
Trevor is Canadian?!?!
uncleblunts5 Yes, if you need proof, go play his "Rampages" one involves American Soldiers mocking him for being Canadian.
Dude, Benton Fraser should totally have been number 1. Wolverine is great and all but Benton is so frigging amazing
WE NEVER SAY ABOOT🇨🇦
Damien Beaunoyer we never say aboot
You being rude?!?!
Wolverine is Canadian? D:
I think you guys need to pay my medical bills because my mind just exploded.
You didn't know that Wolverine was Canadian?
Lol all of these people talking shit about canada have absolutely 0 knowledge of the country that they don't even live in, I've been to America and both countries look almost exactly the same to me, obviously they're not EXACTLY the same but canada is a different country, not a different planet.

Deadpool is not Canadian

the wolverine is more relevant. Ask anyone who he is and they will know (probably say he is the x-man). But deadpool is not that big yet. Maybe after the movie
Victor Doom Deadpool is garbage and his fans are mentally defective.
This is a good list. good job.
Aren't all Canadians fictional?
I'm Canadian and I find that hilarious! Lol
***** yah we're non exsistent
***** I understand your grudge, we're terribly sorry for Justin Bieber... Atleast we gave you Walk off the Earth, Epic Meal Time, and Just for Laughs Comedy XD

Happy Canada Day everyone! Though it was yesterday, pretty neat list. ^ ^.
The Hanson Brothers Slap Shot
They were Americans
I think that the actress that plays Robin from How I Met Your Mother is Canadian too.
She is
Like for Robin Daggers
For Robin, there's an inside joke for Canadians; when Alanis Morrisette released her first two albums here, they were pop/dance music. After she found international success, the original two albums are no longer available
Trevor from GTA is Canadian?? Lol i beat the whole game and still seamed to somehow miss that.
Zack Young I think the only real time it's mentioned is in one of his Rampages, a group of soldiers mock him for being born here.
Lazy Canadian Was that the ps4 version??
Zack Young I think it was on the PS4 version also, but it's also on the PS3, you have to do like 3 of the rampages and it appears.
Lazy Canadian Ah i see. Yea man i totally missed that.
Zack Young Theres a part where youre driving in his truck and talks about being Canadian and beating up his hockey coach
"Your country needs you".... "I'm Canadian" fucking died

It makes the peas taste funny,

garcemac Wait wait wait... You have a list of fictional Canadians who are mostly portrayed by actual, real life Canadians. That doesn't count, guys. But I still liked it.
Thank you for mentioning deadpool when you talked about wolverine.

Red Green was influenced by Red Fisher, a Canadian fishing show where they fished and hung out at scuttlebutt lodge. Red Fishee was the spokesman for a mosquito repellant at events.
I love the fact that WatchMojo are alright not censoring "cock", but fuck is where they draw the line
This list was perfect!
What aboot duke caboom from toy story 4(2019) eh?
Now if we could get more Canadian characters that would be awesome
Why wasn't I on this list. Im a figment of imagination here to taunt my enemies
Trevor in GTA‘s probably from Alberta
Legend has it that a pack of American lumberjacks got lost and wandered into what is now Canada. After seeing the abundance of rideable moose and delicious maple syrup, they stayed. Or so the legend goes.
1.Anne of green gabels
I can't believe that a gta character scored higher than Anne Shirley on this list. My heart broke a little bit.
I fucking love this Canada day thing!!!
Think I've learnt more from this day then why recent school day!!!
Thanks for doing this watchmojo from Aussie fan!!!
I lived in Canada my whole life and never heard a single Canadian say ' aboot'
It's a common exaggeration Americans typically make to pull Canadians' leg. The way most Canadians say "about" sounds more like how Americans would say "a boat". The same goes for the way Canadians say "out" which would sound more like "owt".
All thats missing is Tim Hortens references and you have my home in this video
If Wolverine and the Trailer Park Boys weren't here, I'd probably rampage the Watchmojo headquarters.
Due South should be more than an honourable mention.
Although low key (typical Canadian) William Murdoch of the TV show Murdoch Mysteries. Its been going for 12 years and and is shown in about 120 countries. I know it is not well known in the States, mostly because it shows we aren't and have little desire to be Canadian
Thanks for noticing us so often.
I've met the actor for Harold from The Red Green Show: Patrick McKiney and I live in Hamilton, where The Red Green Show was born.
Your making me want to watch Scott Pilgrim again, so good.
Why not Buck or Frost from Rainbow Six?
Some of these were, no; my favourites (mentioned on here not every single fictional Canadian of all time but they are all on that list too) are Red Green, Wolverine, Deadpool, Benton Fraser and Anne Shirley love them.
Surely you didn't forget Charley Arnutt; cook, swabby, cabin boy, and captain of the Africa Queen.
What about Moose from Fireman Sam? While most other characters are Welsh, there are two characters in the show who aren't. There's Tom Thomas, who's Australian, and then there's the Canadian on the show, Moose!
