I love the form factor and a lot of the design elements. But the quality for the important stuff means its a no go. No weather proofing, probably no battery protection. No disable button + no trolly is a terrible combo. They know you're going to be picking it up more often! If someone would clone this and fix the typical gotway issues, I would absolutely buy one. As is, it's a no-go.
@kzukiodenthechad7205 I think they're pretty straightforward. Battery protection because you don't wanna burn your house down. Disable button for easy carrying. trolly for easy pushing around like when you go inside of a store.
The lack of a stop spin or cut off switch is really rather amazing and a big item going against this wheel. The cut off button on the Mten3 is a bit of pain to use but at least it has one.
agreed, but honestly an extra 2 seconds didn't seen so bad. Not having a trolley is really more of an issue i think. but i think they are releasing 1 for it now.
GW has been adding motor kill plugs to controllers for quite some time (at least since first MSuperX), even if they "forgot" to add an actual button. Just a bit of tuning required.
Maybe this is an ignorant question. I've never ridden an euc but am very interested. This little guy caught my eye because well I'm a little guy. I do know electronics thou. Is this not something somewhat modular that could be easily added? Ie drill a hole in the top add a button and wire it in? Ik that opening up an euc is something that advanced riders do and modifications are possible. Is this not something that could be easily wired into the circuit or would it require you to mess with the software and such? I don't think the boards for this are like raspberry Pi XL boards with just all the components tacked on but is it not built for modularity and customization or am I wrong. The whole community feels like people who would open it up and tinker with the stuff so that's why I'm confused why no one has like.. done this
Already have Mten4 and love it! You sir are 100% correct about the Gotway/Begode quality. Mine was able to do the firmware update with no issue but I have a display problem. The display will go out completely after a few minutes of riding. Sometimes it just glitches to either show a constant speed when you are changing speeds or blink off and on randomly. I do have a bit of disagreement on the point that the Mten4 is not a good learning wheel. I learned on an Mten3. I bought a16X a week after learning to ride. I only noticed the squirreliness of the Mten3 after getting my firs 18" wheel (RS HS) months later. I think as you are learning on it you don't notice because you have nothing to compare it to. I also find the Mten4 much more stable than the Mten3. Thanks once again for one of the best uses of 15 minutes of my life! I always enjoy your content and your insights.
I have been riding one for about a month now, it’s has a crazy amount of torque and can accelerate faster than my S18 and RS19, lol. I know that seems crazy but up to 25mph the Mten4 is the fastest, then the RS19 takes the lead, performance wise Mten4 is incredible. I personally have not had any problems with the wheel as far as reliability, I have wreck it over 15 times pretty hard n it seems to be built pretty well ( I also did wrap it in custom padding/ power pads to protect and for comfort). But I agree with him about it not being a beginner EUC, cause it’s extremely squirrelly due to it’s size so It’s pretty dangerous, I was hoping to teach my younger nephews on it but I have found the InMotion v5 or v8 is a better EUC to learn on, this thing is a grown man’s toy! MTen4 is pretty awesome, I don’t regret my purchase 🤙 This review was dead on, awesome job👊 but with such a small and light EUC you can jump so much higher with human strength, it made me realize that there is another type of EUC that the Mten4 started unlocking, once they put Mten4 with some long travel light suspension people will realize why small and light have a place too. ☺️

Great review, most footage take place on smooth pavement or nice roads so it's nice to see this on NYC streets. Planning to get this as my 2nd wheel (S18). Gonna wait til next spring to get in on a later batch. Overall, seems like issues are pretty minimal so far.
I had this wheel for a day to test and make some judgments. I love it and will buy it someday. However, I'm pretty aware that it's Begode, unfortunately, with all of its QA issues. And the cut-off switch is a must in an urban environment! Yes, you can learn how to switch it off and on with one hand, but it's a chore, considering that you're more likely to find obstacles that are too big for it.
Also, I actually like that you need to constantly be aware of the road surface and actively adjust to it and do a lot of little leg movements. This is much more fan than riding something like v11 which cruises as if it was a tram-v11 is comfortable, but boring.
Regarding the missing cutoff button for the firmware update, I have heard that there is a spot for a header on the motherboard (with no header populated); if you can find this you might be able to effectively press the button by touching the pads where the button should be with a tweezer or bent paperclip
As a three-year veteran rider of a Onewheel - I'm used to cute little wheels that try to kill me without warning! I love the look of this thing. What kind of range can you expect? What's the max passenger weight? Why did they put such an aggressive tread on such a tiny wheel? Are they expecting folks to take it trail riding? Thanks for the review - I love what you do.
I love the review. But why is Begode the only factory making tiny EUCs? Maybe some competition in this category could bring us something better? Like waterproofing and standing time and use.
Another neat product but...How do you replace the tyre? How do you replace the battery? If it's reliant on a mobile app, how long will the all be supported for? How long will they support the entire product for? All important considerations before investing.
Carefully.. these wheels actually aren’t terribly hard to service yourself. Problem is that you probably will have to DIY since unless you live in a big city, there’s prob isn’t a local repair shop
I would happy to see a steerer tube mount at top so that you can actually mount this on an add-on frame so that you can use this as a uni or a ebike, similar size to Fiido Q1

I think they slightly missed the mark should have made MCM6 with a seat and a better light and maybe just a touch more battery if achievable while keeping it lite. That would be a seriously interesting wheel for beginners and last mile commuters.
Another excellent and enjoyable review. Checked the links below, but I can't find the track you are playing at 4:36 - any idea what it's called and who it's by please ?! :)
Would it use a similar controller board as their other wheels? if so, perhaps there's an unused connection on the board you can run a wire between to pretend you've hit the missing switch. Maybe you could even wire up a kill switch somewhere on the case. If not, maybe you could turn it into a bedside light?

Been riding the Mten4 for a while now and it has become my go-to wheel for errands and commuting. It's super portable, maneuverable and nimble. I actually love it more than my much larger wheels. The pedals are smaller and they tend to hurt my feet so I started using foam inserts in my shoes. On nice surfaces it performs beautifully. However, there are a LOT of craggy, bumpy surfaces especially where I work in NYC. I have never really fallen off because of them, knock on wood. What has been very unsettling for me are deep dips or surface depressions in the road that look flat from a distance. These are the ones that send you into a straight drop and then immediately bounce you up, threatening to knock you off the wheel and sending your feet airborne. If you ride too fast and you don't expect it, it's very very unnerving. The condundrum you face is that if you go too fast, that margin of error increases when you hit dips like that. If you go too slow sometimes, even a small crack can catch the wheel momentarily preventing it from going over it and sending you flying forward. All the more reason why I armor up with police riot gear in addition to Leatt knee braces.
I doubt they would've omitted the lift switch from the actual main board. I would suggest looking around the board for unused pins or pads you might suspect that could be for the lift switch. If that's above your paygrade, might be worth asking your rep about that specifically :)
I love the form factor, and the design. Love the fact that it looks like a flash light 😅 But lacking quality control, plus missing some basic features like rain protection, power cut-off switch, etc is a bummer.
Haha I hope they make a version 2 with a splash guard on the back and a way to safely update the firmware :) Me I was complaining with the mten3 that I had to push the lift button! At least it had one. But honestly to carry anything heavier than 20-30lbs up and down steps or underpasses and metro stations is impractical I hope they fix the issues and make it into a nice commuter wheel.
Got to love a wheel that fits in a backpack and you can take anywhere but no trolley handle means I cant hop off,go shopping and bring it into the store with me. This makes it a no go for the money IMO.
I'm really a big fan of your channel. By far, the best over EUCs. But, with that said, personally, if a brand like Begode, and specifically with this model, if you have had experienced issues, like burn outs, I would go all the way and set a disclaimer saying that "we don't recommend this wheel or brand until they fix these issues". Any brand, or model, that can put people's life in risk, it's a no go for me. And your experience should act in favor of the consumer, and fight the brands, and push for solutions and fixes. I was really about to buy this wheel then, when you said every single wheel, and this one in the video, had issues, I stopped.
Not surprised you have so a decent handle on it considering the wheel you started with. It looks like some sort of droid from Star Wars, much like the Z10 you also had. I was excited to finally see a new wheel that wasn't nearly as expensive as a fat tire Ebike and went a reasonable speed... but It's still Begode/Gotway, shocking no one that it failed on you. 😑
I just heard that they do have a trolley handle kit you can add. and if you want you can probably water proof the wheel yourself, however. considering how unstable it is, may not be a good idea at all to try riding it in the wet.
Hey! quick dump of pointers: (1) that thing is gorgeous (2) due to its form factor (& unfortunate lack of weatherproofing), one would assume this little guy ain't built for off-road... if that's the case, why didn't they use a slicker tire¿ feels to me like that would help with the speed wobble (3) i think we should avoid placing wheels on tables, even if they're public / outdoors, the same way that we should avoid putting our soles on sitting / working surfaces (4) very comprehensive review; high commendations! (5) 12:52 "I somehow managed to trick you into waisting another 15 minutes of your life" both: hilarious! & (laughs in 1.5 playing speed)
Still waiting other companies to make new smaller EUCs like Begode. Don't want to buy from them because of years of battery fire problems. Great video!
I’m having a similar controller issue with my master (batch 3) the wheel is just flat out not turning on at all. I turned it off after a ride, and it hasn’t wanted to turn back on since. Looks like I need a new controller.
The fact that this is heavier than the Mten with no trolley handle is a big miss. I ride the Sherman and I would love to have a separate wheel for short errands, light enough that I can throw in my big would have been great. I think there's an untapped market for a lighter wheel that only goes up to 18mph but you can conveniently throw in your bag and not break your back after a 10 minute walk. Or am I just crazy?
Surely a handle is an easy addition....there are several companies making heavy duty selfie sticks, you'd only have to add a well-nut somewhere on your wheel.
I have winter, and 100+ days of rain in not winter locally. I hate how I basically can't use ebikes and EUCs. Very disappointing, but I can at least live vicariously through the community.
I just bought the 300w model because I don’t need a lot of mileage and I’m new to euc. I’ve been a professional snowboarder and have Onewheels. I was wondering if you could bring the smaller 300w version on a plane to explore new places away from home?
@@nonamemusic1932 yes I do! I ride it almost daily, and rode it last night in a snow storm with 6 inches of fresh snow and it just flew along! It was like floating and I'm 220 on that little tank! Worth every penny to me. I've taken it Coast to coast and explored many little towns and cities with it! I get between 9-14miles on full charge. 9 if I'm running straight miles. 14ish if you're just playing around the parks and trying to do different technical stuff like riding logs or curbs etc. Remember Im not the lightest person at 220lbs either so others could be getting better mileage. Too, I've never let my wheel drop below the one bar marker however, I'm super afraid of cutout! I did just get a new Begode t4 for further trail exploration and now my son has taken over the Mten4. But it's win win because the wheel gets to be rode and I've got a new riding partner! Sorry, long story short, fat guy - little wheel 300w = $uper happy!! It definitely does 25mph. I cruise around 18 and for that little wheel it's very fast. And again I am terrified of cutout so I've only hit 27 a couple of times but I did not get any warnings from the wheel
Hi Hsiang. About how many miles cumulatively have you ridden on the Mten3 and MTen4? I have the MTen3 and it's squirrelly but personally i don't feel it's necessarily as dangerous as you make it sound in this video. I'm wondering if it's because you haven't gotten to spend as much time on this wheel yet.
I got mten3 because it was all I could afford. Yes just hitting a bump can ruin your life. Its very fun on smooth streets at lowerish speeds. My model cant even clear the change coming off the street up onto a parking lot without bucking me and crashing into the ground thus breaking the fuse... its still fun but hey whatever floats your boat.
That tire alone is absolutely the wrong kind of tire too, because I do not see anyone taking that thing off road. It needs to have a much less wide spread of tread, that tire seems like it would vibrate a lot.

8 months later is the wheel still holding up?
@@nonamemusic1932 absolutely!
I doubt they would've omitted the lift switch from the actual main board. I would suggest looking around the board for unused pins or pads you might suspect that could be for the lift switch.
If that's above your paygrade, might be worth asking your rep about that specifically :)
I love the form factor, and the design. Love the fact that it looks like a flash light 😅
But lacking quality control, plus missing some basic features like rain protection, power cut-off switch, etc is a bummer.
I’m so excited for mine. I have the v12HS and I sold my onewheel pint x I’m looking for a small backup and I think the mten4 300wh is perfect
Very cool uni wheel but the lack of rain resistance makes it's a deal breaker for deep south or east coast cities. What Nikes are you wearing?
Haha I hope they make a version 2 with a splash guard on the back and a way to safely update the firmware :) Me I was complaining with the mten3 that I had to push the lift button! At least it had one. But honestly to carry anything heavier than 20-30lbs up and down steps or underpasses and metro stations is impractical I hope they fix the issues and make it into a nice commuter wheel.
😎✨. Nice to make your review this long.
Got to love a wheel that fits in a backpack and you can take anywhere but no trolley handle means I cant hop off,go shopping and bring it into the store with me. This makes it a no go for the money IMO.
I’d buy one if were in my twenties or early thirties, but I’m too old now and don’t think I have the reflexes to catch myself if I fell.
Awesome video quality. Looks like a Fuji lens.
Just helping a brother out. I have nothing to add. Lol
I was story excited for it but no weather sealing is a deal breaker. Wasn't the Mten3 okay with the rain?
What helmet are you running?
Not surprised you have so a decent handle on it considering the wheel you started with. It looks like some sort of droid from Star Wars, much like the Z10 you also had. I was excited to finally see a new wheel that wasn't nearly as expensive as a fat tire Ebike and went a reasonable speed... but It's still Begode/Gotway, shocking no one that it failed on you. 😑
you have the perfect voice for a radio host
I paced one in my truck tonight
Downhill it was doing 45
Listen we always help the brothers out 😂😂😂😂
Prop would never get this small speedster but I still got respect for that cool cyberpunk look it has to it.
I just bought the mten4 and getting it soon. Hopefully it does not get bricked. How easy would waterproofing be on it?
This thing remembers me the Pixar's Lamp. I love it
Ugh, I want this wheel so badly, but not without waterproofing and a trolley handle (and lift switch, wut; and other flaws, heh)!!!
I just heard that they do have a trolley handle kit you can add. and if you want you can probably water proof the wheel yourself, however. considering how unstable it is, may not be a good idea at all to try riding it in the wet.
It's weird because I remember early EUCs having no real issue riding though the rain just several years ago lmao.
Can't decide if I should get this, or go to the other extreme and get the sherman S.
Hey! quick dump of pointers:
(1) that thing is gorgeous
(2) due to its form factor (& unfortunate lack of weatherproofing), one would assume this little guy ain't built for off-road... if that's the case, why didn't they use a slicker tire¿ feels to me like that would help with the speed wobble
(3) i think we should avoid placing wheels on tables, even if they're public / outdoors, the same way that we should avoid putting our soles on sitting / working surfaces
(4) very comprehensive review; high commendations!
Nice job on the VDO. I would suggest list the specs on the vdo, as well. It was hard to hear the top speed. Maybe a Pro/Con side-by-side list too.
Don't forgett the banana scale!! Nice!!
I heard something that might help you about the bricked motherboard.
Supposedly there is a 2 connection spots on the PCB for a lift switch...
Looks amazing!
It’s probably the best wheel for Halloween rides. I can’t believe you didn’t mention that 😂
I have winter, and 100+ days of rain in not winter locally. I hate how I basically can't use ebikes and EUCs. Very disappointing, but I can at least live vicariously through the community.
I’m just about to put my review of this little powerhouse out soon…. I’m definitely not going to try to update the firmware though lol
What were the three Begode wheels mentioned at one point?
Crazy how that nyc store looks identical to my Vancouver store
Am I the ONLY EUC-rider that would settle for lower max speed (30 mph) in exchange for a puncture-proof forever tire?
lol I love my MTen3, I ride it around the house ha ha ha and it does literally fit in a backpack or under car seats
Hey what do you mean soft/hard mode? Thank you for the info!🙏🏽
Looks like a giant flashlight LOL.
Is it just me or would this be perfect to customize to look like Claptrap? 😮
I just bought the 300w model because I don’t need a lot of mileage and I’m new to euc. I’ve been a professional snowboarder and have Onewheels. I was wondering if you could bring the smaller 300w version on a plane to explore new places away from home?
Do you still have this version? Is it as fast as the larger battery?(25mph) and is it still in good condition?
I wonder if this would work as an airport carry on item 🤔
they dont like lithium ion batteries so probs not
You should do a claptrap cosplay featuring this.
Just cut and paint a cardboard box, wear it, crouch, and try not to fall over.
I want to buy, where can I make the purchase?
"Not weather-proofed, so...."
"No thanks. Even in sunny weather sprinklers and puddles are a thing."
You can take home one grocery at a time! Only 15 more trips to the supermarket to bring home the groceries!
Id paint it blue and yellow, on a minion theme.
Did anyone see which unicycle (the orange one) he’d recommend for a beginner?
I lean towards to inMotion V12 right now, small (relatively) agile and fast.
@@OWGAC The price of that wheel will deter a lot of beginners.
What's that other disassembled wheel you had next to the mten4? Abrams?
"I don't what the designer was taking, but he should do more of it" 🤣🤣🤣
That tire alone is absolutely the wrong kind of tire too, because I do not see anyone taking that thing off road. It needs to have a much less wide spread of tread, that tire seems like it would vibrate a lot.
