I've just bought one of these quite recently, the same colour as the light purple car featured right at the end of the vid. I test drove a couple back in my late twenties, and the happy thoughts of them has just stayed with me ever since..:) I'll get it fixed up for next autumn 2024, as the car is a project that needs some positive energy and life slowly breathing back into it.
Proud owner of a 20VT in yellow. Brought joy everytime I drove the car. Nimble, fun, rare. My only complaint...visibility provided by the headlight is rather poor.
I’ve had mine since I was 24 I’m now 44 and it’s still going strong I’ve done over 60.000 miles in it never let me down it now on 87 thousand miles never gonna sell it lol ❤
LOTS of panels/funnels missing in the front there, the IC one is important for cooling/power & the undertray for high speed stability, cooling, rust here & there and… Yes as You now know - for belts protection 😊
Had 2 sprint blue 20vt. First one got wrote off, second one, I was stupid and sold it. That was 6 years ago and I want another one. If looked after they are very reliable cars, just don't short cut on maintenance.
if you take off the fenders with the indicators you can also find rust on the chassis where the fender is screwed on. I had it in my MY99 20vt... i was lucky that i did not had to weld it...
Would love to have a coop, a few of my mates have them, seems such a shame to break the daily as you've said how good it is? Deserves a bit of love and attention I'd say
I’ve had potentially 10 of these now since the early 2000’s until this year. I used to love these as my mate Roger ran Power Fiat/Italia in Essex. I always took super care of mine cars, and they were rust free. My top pics; My black one owner 20VT LE I bought from some huge man who busted up the Recaros big time My Ink Black 20VT Plus I actually walked away from at £3500 but the lady wanted rid so bad I flippantly offered her £800 and she agreed. My one owner sprint blue 20VT that had been garaged by a wealthy lawyer who lived in one those posh conversion flats in Whitechapel, the car lived underground. Absolutely and utterly rust free including the radiator support panel, and it had a full repaint only 2 years before me. I gave him £1200 for it, and it was only 3 years ago. My other sprint blue 20VT which I bought from the First Lady owner who was a teacher at a school. She didn’t like the colour combos so paid Fiat to have the interior retrimmed in beige leather. I still see the car as the guy I sold it to still has it. Utterly mint floor including the radiator support. My one owner 20VT in scotts green I picked up from some university professor in Chiswick. Lacquer was gone, but low mileage and the strongest of engines with a solid 3 bar oil pressure literally always. I paid £900 for it, and I remember this odd guy in his 2M house saying he’d never seen so much cash before. Lol. And only three months ago I bought my second LE this time in Vinci Grey. It needed a turbo but still drove. I couldn’t get into them again, and sold it to my brother who still has it amongst some other classics including an Alfa 75 3.0 V6 Veloce, a pair of 164 24v Cloverleafs (white and red, one has optional Recaros) and some other Porsche and BMW’s. He rebuilt the turbo with a new cartridge himself and loves it as it’s his first, but I’m well bored by now. He’s had a number of Ferraris as well including his Giallo 355 he only just traded to Porsche for a 997 911 turbo S convertible.
The Gtec 1 is a plug and play chip which should allow you to get around 30bhp extra, it allows fuelling of up to 1.2 bar on the standard turbo, Gtec 2 is aimed for higher bhp but requires at least an front mounted intercooler and possibly an uprated fuel pump or direct wiring modification to the existing fuel pump.
I dailey a 20vt plus in moon grey, 6 speed, NO sunroof no aircon - which tidies up the engine bay alot and gives room to work on more easy, 340bhp to the wheels atm.
In the UK, you see more german cars all rusty than italian. When I lived in Austria, I did not see one italian car with rust. All cars with rust I saw were german and one Impreza.
Hello, am interested in buying one with only 115k km and its in a very good condition (the owner takes care of it but doesn't use it). Unfortunately it needs a good service but that's it. Also its a 1999 20vt edition with sunroof. Any idea what i should pay attention to? Is it as slippery as they say in general? What about her cornering ability and in what speed does she feel uncomfortable? Thank you in advance!
Great channel!! I'm an owner alfa gt v6 and fiat coupe 20v turbo LE, I have to change timer belt and water pump on coupe. I need to know P/N water pump with metal rotor. Could you help me? Thanks in advance.
@autosportivobedford9751 Hi, only I need to know what water pump usually install on the coupe 20v Turbo, SKF water pump has plastic rotor...I would like to install a good water pump with metallic rotor. Thank you
Always liked these but never managed to get one. Same with the Alfa 147gta. Currently running a JDM oddity and to be honest I can't see me coming away from it, other than another JDM vehicle
@@autosportivobedford nice gallo yellow one ... 16v evo , if it is a gallo , do you need the story of Switzerland and Italy, I like the verde York and last dealers edition as a pure lancia product in house , not like the gallo , good job with these Italian best cars , good luck with the future ,
Great video - I'm hooked again 😳🤔😀👍 Save the blue one, a bit of TLC and it deserves to be saved after doing those sorts of miles✌️💜😊 I nearly bought one back in the day - I had money then although it was right at the top of my budget😳🙄🤕 - I still rate them, on the day I test drove the Barchetta too, superb car (I've owned MK1 MR2 T-Bar and driven MX5s, owned race tuned AH Sprites, Midgets, MGBs etc), I was torn. I needed a daily commuter, 3 hours a day, the servicing requirements for the cam belts etc put me off. We'd run Fiat vans though and they hardly missed a beat. So wish I'd bought one😕🙄✌️💜
Super expensive but in the uk may be different prices than where you are. There is a nice 20v non turbo in red for sale in the uk currently and that’s £1500.
@@AlexButler10 In Europe, those are the prices they are going for. And if in Portugal, even worse. Cars here in the UK are so so cheap compared to all Europe. If cars in the the UK were LHD and cars prices being what the are, the UK would be the biggest car exporter in the world.
I dream of having this car since I was little!!! I have a question about the 2000cc 16v turbo engine, does the engine give more problems or is it similar to the 20v one? Tks! (I can't offer to buy the 20v in my country)
Some people believe the 20v is more reliable that the 16v but some people including me have had no issues at all with the 16v, I had one 15 years ago and it was an amazing engine, also the heritage of it being from the integrale is pretty cool.
The turbo 16 is more reliable, and well kept, with no problems. I change the oil every 10,000 km, check the timing belt and never turn off the engine immediately after intense use.
@@autosportivobedford Had a coupe mapped by FC performance, with cg motorsports dual friction clutch, and done loads of work. Done my homework by driving it every day Also known car fiat coupe forum
Should you buy one? There are 3 answers possible; NO, FUCK NO, and HELL NO. Fiat never was a reliable brand, but the time these were made Fiats were exceptionally unreliable, you'll be hard pressed to find one that hasn't had computer issues, and those issues will come back. These cars are nice to look at, but too big for paperweights, so they're completely useless.
Well done the Fiat coupe is poor man’s super car I ve had mine 24 years still going strong to this day ❤
Spectacular car. Ages extremely well. These look better today than they looked back then. Plus that drivetrain is superb.
I'm on my 5th 20v Coupe and yes definitely my favourite car.
Ant why on earth would you send this couple to coupe heaven. It’s light blue! And it’s good! Please save it for the upcoming generations!
I'm a VAG Fanboy, was never a Fiat fan, but I've changed my mind now... Great video guys. Top work.
😂👍🏻
Italian cars are very addictive and yes plenty drama but when it all works nothing gives such a smile of satisfaction

What's the mpg like for daily use?
At a guess I'd say around 35 mpg, less so if your ragging it around all the time. I'll find out later in the year..:)@@harrisonbradley3728
I regret having sold my turbo 16 after 20 years, it was perfect. 120,000km. Well done that you continue to maintain this beautiful historic car!

That daily looks to good to break even though its a high mileage example, I do love them in yellow as I think it really stands out.
Mine (Ive had it 24 years from new) never came with 2 gas struts under the bonnet, but a single strut that locks in place by a small sideways shift.
He's right.. they are so so stylist. Still turn heads even today. I used my as a daily for a few months. Was more practical than my TT.
How was the mpg?
