The 52nd running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona was the inaugural race for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and the first round of the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup.
Awesome coverage. I missed it on TV (I've seen it many years on SPEED) so was very pleased to at least get a good number of hours of coverage here on the TUDOR page! ps....LOVE the "Leader Light System" displayed on the cars! VERY nice touch. and a GREAT idea! Thanks again for the postings, and heres to a great season!
So many people in comments complaining about 'Ohh this isn't the way I like' or 'Oh hey this car sucks now'.. Dudes and dudettes, they could have easily dropped both series and said forget it, but instead they merged. Do I know all the technical reasons and cost things they did? Absolutely not, but I am still glad I get to watch close racing between several different types and makes of cars, No matter the class or specifications. Sure, the comentators may be different but people, they just merged two series, and it's the first year of them working together. There is growing pains in everything, it wasn't long ago in NASCAR everyone hated the COT cars but turned out it created a need for a new model afterwards and changes. Seriously, can't we just enjoy the fact we get to watch cars going around a track that look different in pretty colors whilist dreaming about driving cars most of us could never afford?
Oh, the inaugural USCC race already happened. Dangit! Shame they dropped LMP1, but other than that, I've really been looking forward to this. Fucking love multi-class-endurance-type racing. And to make it better, IndyCar drivers! I love IndyCar too! Wait a damn- wasn't the Delta Wing built to P1 specs?
The commentators really need to take a course with the Radio Le Mans guys on how it's done. You don't need to talk all the time. You don't need to yell when you're in the booth. You don't play with the audience's nerves with muzac and jingles.
Thanks for the post, but you used the wrong intro for the race. The intro to the FOX network telecast (which, BTW, was the first time since 1979 that any portion of the race was shown on American Network TV [A tape-delayed version was shown on CBS Sports Spectacular the next week] and the first time ever that the 24 Hours of Daytona was shown live on American Network TV) was *BY FAR* better than the one used here IMHO. Sam Posey needs to pack it in, quite frankly.
You couldn't be more wrong about Sam Posey. The man understands racing, and has a style and a grace in his choice of words to describe an event. His F1 intros are the best, and I'm very happy to see he did the same for the 24HR Daytona Race.
Randall Dubin This is the FOX SPORTS 2 intro for the race. Pre race aired on there before jumping to FOX SPORTS for 2 hours. After those two hours, coverage went back to FOX SPORTS 2 until 9 PM ET. Coverage wrapped up on FOX SPORTS 1 the following day at 8 AM ET with the rest of the race, the finish, and post race. I have the whole race spread out on five VHS tapes to prove it.
Hope the Yanks head down under to the Bathurst 12 hr then they can really experience hills flats & some crazy Aussie driving ! This is just Talledaga Nights a great Ricky Bobby - Will Ferrell Race
So they can change tires while fueling now? ALMS didn't allow you to do that. You had to wait for the fueling to end. I rather liked that better, forced the teams to be more strategic with their stops.
most gt3 series do the same, and gtd are just slower gt3 cars, so, besides dp's, all the cars are used for this system, makes no since that they blended the pit rules when, lets be honest here, le mans style pit stops are better
i dont understand why they kept talking up an old ford engine, this engine debuted in 2012 at mazda raceway in the project libra car in the alms and they won't shut up about it, we get it, you put a turbo in a dp, jeeze calm down

What's the title of the track played before the commercial break?
My favorite class are the GTLM or GTE Pro and then LMP2.

The Delta Wing was in the P1 class last year in the ALMS, but it's P2 this year with a different setup.

CORRECTION: The pre race and first hour of the 07, 08, and 09 race aired on FOX before going to SPEED for the conclusion.

rckymtn3 I'm just saying that that intro was bad compared to the FOX Sports intro version. That's all I'm saying.

It is odd. I just liked the whole ALMS concept that you cannot always dive in to quickly do both when it would be some time consuming.
