Turnover is a former emo/punk band whose newest release “Peripheral Vision” is a standout release echoing a transformation in the scene itself. Like cohorts in Sorority Noise, Citizen and Superheaven, they’ve managed to transcend punk and emo stereotypes to create a unique style while building a following of fans who loved them for their original sound. The record itself has a constantly humming echo that pulses throughout. It’s steeped in 80’s reverb and textured with layers of cosmic, contemplative noise. Lead vocalist, Austin Getz’s voice is steady and optimistic but his often somber lyrics reflect mental exhaustion. Sorrowful guitars banter to one another with quick, spacey riffs while the rhythm section provides a backdrop for the song to groove in a steady clip.
Listeners who are familiar with old material are sure to be transfixed by the change; hearing remnants of old songs buried within their stark evolution. Turnover is constantly touring and have opened for bands like Major League, Have Mercy, I Am the Avalanche and New Found Glory. A diversity of tone and influence allows for them to fit within tours made of off-kilter lineups and attract fans from across the genre spectrum.

He doesn’t sound like the record because the studio version has synthesised harmonies running over his vocal to make it sound more euphoric and wavey. I fucking love this song.
Plus it's drowned in reverb which they might as well utilize live

just saw these guys with story so far and basement and they killed it. their set was magical. his voice was spot on as well.
That was my favorite show on my favorite tour that I have ever been to and doubt I will ever top. Probably in a different city than you but the lineup, energy, crowd, and venue were all perfect.

Turnover is amazing! I've been a fan since their first EP in 2011 and Peripheral Vision will always be my favorite album. This is definitely my favorite song from the album and they nailed this performance!

I work in a recording studio in Manhattan, these vocals are pristine compared to what I hear. It's refreshing to hear raw vocals and not vocaline taking the reign.

Does anyone know what snare he's using?
To me it either looks like a Pearl MCX masters bubinga or a Tama artwood either way it is 6.5 X 14. The depth really adds lot to the tone if you're looking for that nice deep sound. Also I'd go with snare wires with very short decay to get that tone identically

Aron only the original band who has written a song should make the song sound exactly the same. Here’s a trick to your future covers: make your cover YOUR cover. Meaning: make it sound NOTHING like the original. If you need an example of what I mean, list to “Heartbeats” by Jose Gonzales. Then listen to the original version of that song by The Knife.
