It's incredible the confidence you give myself and Gary after looking at your videos . We love to go to the beach or into a forest and find things that we learned from you .Thank you so much ❤
Spot on advice. Play the cards one's dealt on any particular occasion (or at least give it a go, eh?). It's never a guarantee but if one remains open-minded beyond "Plan A", shifting gears and observing other options sometimes pays off handsomely. Do I sometimes talk myself out of shooting because of "bad light/boring weather/etc. (fill in the blank as you wish lol)? Yep... Then kick myself because making such excuses only guarantees zero potential images for the day. You brought up some great points here and looking through the .raw files is a nice bonus, as well. Many of those images really do remind me of aerial views, albeit at higher altitudes than we used to shoot years back. :)
Hey Will, great topic again. Love that you finish with just get out there. It's so true. You don't capture anything if you're still at home with your camera in your bag. 😂
I laughed when you said if it was someone else's image you'd probably like it more. It's like when someone cooks for you, it always tastes better than if you cook it?😂
Love the patterns. I've shot a month in South Island this year and last and came away with a number of patterns in the sand shots. It's so interesting to do! And thanks for the tips. I'll try to use some of that thinking in my future images!
This was helpful, I struggle in finding abstract compositions. I’m more of a technical shooter and have difficulty in finding the creative scenes. I’ll keep this in mind the next time I’m out.
Awesome vid Will. Great images and comp tips at the end there. Those sandals tho, got me concerned knowing what the sandflies are like on those beaches
Interesting topic, this is what i struggle the most with. When to be satisfied with the edit. Warmer, no cooler, more contrast, no softer .... 2 months down the road i have 128 edits on the same photo. But for sure, if the weather fails you, look for other things and enjoy nature.
@@WilliamPatinoPhotography You mean maybe the photo is just not good enough? That is something I have learned the hard way 😁 I really try to discard bad photos now days but for sure. Sometimes you have invested so much time in a photo you really want it to work. I think I lack a goal in my mind, where do I want this to end up. So I just float around the sliders trying everything the invented at Adobe.
@@jensbjorkkvist Yeah, perhaps it's the image itself which you are forcing to make 'work' through various edits but ultimately it is the subject/comp/light letting you down. Having a vision definitely helps when it comes to the processing.
If you carry one of those foldable grey cards that double as a reflector: that comes in real clutch for these abstract scenes when an angle doesn't render enough light on the subject. Put the camera on a tripod and work that reflector! :)
Very sorry to hear about Milo Will. Tough times, take care.
So true there's always something to see and capture
Cheers
Thanks mate 🙏🏻
I struggle with this You make it look easy!

Love your approach to the subject and topic of perspective & light Will, great video mate 😎✌️
Thanks mate!
Really enjoyed the mix of the capture and editing process and what you’re looking at with leading the viewer through these more abstract images
Thanks, really appreciate the support :)
Absolutely great, Will !! I allways learn something that makes my photography better…
Thank you!

My pleasure. Hope you had a great time here :)
Great video - I think next time I'm trying these out I'll focus more on the light for that contrast. Thanks Will
Keen to see what you got

Interesting. Maybe it’s not the edit but the image itself?
