I just can't dig "Tears in Rain." But I do dig these Seagulls versions and Tarja collaborations. Walking in the Air didn't hear from them before and that was really good. Over the Hills was otherwise quite nice too, but in the very end Tarja went a bit too high key to this version of the song, or to my ear, but it's a minoor issue. Very nice video, feel good stuff. I agree, she went a bit too high at the end. She loves to stray all the time, specially when she should be all neat, like you know, festivals and TV presentations where everyone is watching and judging if you still have it. We know Tarja, she does not care. And that is good. I love Tears in Rain. However, I have the same issue with a few of her singles: Die Alive, NBE, UMLB... but you know, they are singles made to be bubblegum and all, and I jump like all of us do, on her shows, when she plays them, but I could never ever for the life of me enjoy "The Living End"... always skip it, always. UGH. It is the only Tarja song that I absolutely dislike. "Tears in rain" is awesome, though. Specially live. That "in your face guitar" crashed by the very sing-along chorus and that amazing drum solo in the middle!

Some zealots go ape as soon as one shows dislike, but that's just bad fanboi attitude. It is an entirely different thing when some people come to the video to dislike and thumb it down. Ok, first of all thx for this video. Second - how is Tarja singing? And what a difference in her singing it is!!! She sounds like she does in albums. In this live performance her voice is so smooth, and so nice, she sounds amazing. To me i mean. This is what i would want her to sound like ALWAYS, because she has the best voice in the world for me. I am shocked to hear how good she sounds because, honestly, i don't usually like her live singing. She puts everything she has into everything she sings, so to me she sounds all over the place with her voice. In the same song she can go too deep, too high, transitions are usually not good sounding to me, she sounds weird, and put her accent on top and i understand why some people don't like her singing. And her accent isn't even always present, like....i don't understand that. But here, to me, she sounds PERFECT. I would love to hear Nemo, Dark Chest Of Wonders, and all those Nightwish songs, and her solo stuff sung this way. This is so good.
When she is singing actual opera she sounds really outstanding, better than ever really, the only problem with her live performances is because she tries to sound less operatic when singing metal nowadays, she have slowly been doing it since NW and she even said that in a few interviews, problem is she never had contemporary singing classes, only classical, so she is literally experimenting with her voice so her technique can be messy sometimes with the placement, what I noticed is that she likes to thin out her head voice, probably to sound less operatic, and when it comes to mid and lower notes she is using a lot her chest voice now and she tend deepen and thicken it too much, wich in the right moment sounds outsanding, but doing it all the time can make the transition from head voice to chest have too much contrast and not sound so connected, considering her voice is already naturally very dark. In this performance though she is using her chest voice a lot but she is singing with a lighter, more neutral placement, not deepening it too much so the transitions to the higher notes on head voice sounds lot nicer and fluid, a little adjustment on the placement makes a lot of difference here, I really wish she would take some contemporary singing classes to adjust her technique better for this kind of singing or just stick to her powerful operatic voice.
I think she’s just singing with backing vocals. You can hear the two separate voices. She probably needs help bc it’s so cold. This is a great performance either way.
