    With all due respect to his 80's music, I think Steve was at his peak in the 60's and 70's in the Spencer Davis Group, Blind Faith, and Traffic, and when he returned to that brand of music in the 90's and after. Barleycorn, Low Spark, and the self titled album are all incredible works by Traffic.

    • @hesh8367
      @hesh8367 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I actually don’t care for Winwood at all in the 80s, but he stays way up top in my favorites list just because of his contributions in the 60s and 70s.
      Robert Palmer is the same way. Never really liked 80s Robert Palmer. 70s Palmer, though? Goddamn he was killin it.
      Clapton would be another, I suppose.

He can do it all- R&B, Folk, Psychedelic, Rock and Pop .In addition a peerless keyboardist and a mean guitarist too . He has the backbone for many bands - Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind faith, With as a duo Eric Clapton and solo. People know Steve Winwood , heard him since 60s , enjoyed his music in 2019 ( Dear Mr. Fantasy at the start of the movie Avengers Endgame) but he doesn't get the appreciation he truly deserves

    When you get to Steve Windwood's solo work you must get to "Arc of a diver". I also would suggest More from this album as mentioned the title track.
    Also a suggestion of Trampsonic "You're a Man".....

    This is the music of my teenage years. Reminds me of why so much of the music these days has little to no apply to me. Love hearing this today.

    The late great Jim Capaldi (who wrote the lyrics) smoking hot on the drums and the late great Chris Wood on that funky bass. What a group they were.

    Growing up. A local Radio station had a show called "FOR HEADPHONES ONLY"..
    On Friday nights. Headphones definitely let you appreciate the music from the early days.. loving watching you on this musical journey you are experiencing. Peace out brother🤙

    Agreed. Definitely underrated. Steve Winwood's Traffic made some great music without a doubt. Yes, ear candy. Makes you want to sing along for sure.

    FINALLY !!!! Thank you Jamel for getting into this and I know you're glad you did !!! This whole fantastic album is so diverse, from spooky acoustic folk to jazzy funky rock and hits each of it's themes perfectly. Steve Winwood is just an incredible talent and plays keys, guitar, bass, organ, piano, sings and his late great band mates Chris Wood on reeds and woodwinds and the superb and underrated drum master Jim Capaldi play beautifully. As a drummer myself I've stolen some of Jim's swift and nifty drum licks. Keep it up and thank you. Love from Ned and Janet in Mallorca, Spain.

      @Jonathan Elswick Hey Jonathan, I know what you mean. Once you hear them, you just want more. These guys were on my turntable from 8th or 9th grade and ever after. Got any favorites ?

      @Jonathan Elswick Hey, my name is Ned. My wife, Janet and I share the YT account. With that outta the way, you're a lucky fellow for seeing Steve who somehow survived a long long rock n roll life with his insane abilities and good looks still intact. That alone is an incredible achievement. He also has something really special / positive about him too. Always awesome even during his more commercial years like Arc of a Diver. I'll check out the album you suggested

    This was so good. Most of us gen x’s grew up loving Steve Winwood, but haven’t been exposed to his old Traffic tunes, and this was truly a gem! So thanks for digging deep! Man...yeah, it “had everything but a cowbell” lol
