    With all due respect to his 80's music, I think Steve was at his peak in the 60's and 70's in the Spencer Davis Group, Blind Faith, and Traffic, and when he returned to that brand of music in the 90's and after. Barleycorn, Low Spark, and the self titled album are all incredible works by Traffic.

    • @hesh8367
      @hesh8367 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I actually don’t care for Winwood at all in the 80s, but he stays way up top in my favorites list just because of his contributions in the 60s and 70s.
      Robert Palmer is the same way. Never really liked 80s Robert Palmer. 70s Palmer, though? Goddamn he was killin it.
      Clapton would be another, I suppose.

      Funny, a lot of the bands that I loved for their 60's, 70's music, I completely turned off of their 80's albums. Dylan, Stones, definitely Steve Winwood!, Stevie Wonder, Santana... I'm sure there are a bunch more.

    Winwood undoubtedly is the most versatile singer rock music produced .He is the secret weapon of rock music. He can do it all- R&B, Folk, Psychedelic, Rock and Pop .In addition a peerless keyboardist and a mean guitarist too . He has the backbone for many bands - Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind faith, With as a duo Eric Clapton and solo. People know Steve Winwood , heard him since 60s , enjoyed his music in 2019 ( Dear Mr. Fantasy at the start of the movie Avengers Endgame) but he doesn't get the appreciation he truly deserves

    Dag! I can remember hitchhiking to my local record store: "C & D Record Bar" to buy this Incredible "TRAFFIC" LP and that LONG TRIP back home and the Great Anticipation, on my return home! God Bless the MUSIC & THE BAND! They have NEVER let me down! Cheers! ...Newk from Kentucky

    Agreed. Definitely underrated. Steve Winwood's Traffic made some great music without a doubt. Yes, ear candy. Makes you want to sing along for sure.

    My Mother loved this song. It's the song of her early 20s and my early childhood. I can't listen to it without sobbing.

    Imagine trying coming up with a song, and you’re looking at empty pages. And then after further consideration, you come up with singularly one of the greatest songs of all time
    Pure genius

    Among one of my favorites from Traffic. Plenty of great songs to check out from that group.

    Steve Winwood played all the instruments along with Jim Capaldi on drums and percussion. I always loved the simplicity of this tune. John Barely Corn is their crowning masterpiece

    The thing that makes this so funky is the fact that you can hear Jim Capaldi's hi hat. He doesn't crush it with volume, he's just in the pocket. Another drummer that reminds me of this is Harvey Mason on the Headhunter's version of "Chameleon". Not super loud, just funky. Steve Winwood is playing bass on this tune. His brother Muff taught him how to play as a kid.
